We bicker among ourselves about what to do next. Daniel had, yet again, escaped along with his beta-rat I caught lurking in the pack's library. He stole a book from the secret room and had vanished within the woods. With no scent to track him down, we lost him completely. Especially after the sharp pain that came through Naomi and I's bond, it had me on my knees in seconds. My eyes met Arlene's, and her expression told me, somehow, she felt Naomi's distress too.
She and Maximus were with me when Morris reported the strange person scaring people in the library and followed pronto, ready to support if the threat proved to be dangerous.
