LUCIAN

Killian and I sat on cracked stones, catching our breaths atop the blood-soaked rooftop. The moon, which had once been shrouded by storm clouds during the chaos, watched over us as it shone its light on the silent manor. We had a victory, a bitter one. My hands still trembled from the fight, and waves rocked my body, sparking up emotions that I couldn’t define.

I glanced at Garam’s corpse, lying in a dark pool that reflected the silver moon hanging above. His face, which was once filled with cruelty, was empty now with no life, evil, or power on it.

The bodies of Garam’s creatures, which littered the field below, began to slowly dissolve into dark mist that the breeze carried away, leaving only the blood-filled field and the bodies of the fallen warriors of the pack and the rogues that supported Garam.

I wiped my sword clean on the edge of my torn cloak and slid it into its sheath before standing up to face the people who stood below.
