Lucia

Finally it seemed Rhein was done with what he had been doing. He called in his assistant who took what he had been working with before leaving.

He came up to me smiling. “I'm sorry about the delay, beautiful, some urgent work had to be done first” he gave me his hand to take which I did.

Then he took us to the lift and while we were on our way down to the garage he asked some questions about work. How it had been so far.

“Has anybody been a trouble? Any unnecessary entry to your office?” He asked. He sounded concerned, he wasn't just asking for the sake of it.

I shrugged, I didn't have much to say about it. Work had been what work usually is, stressful and hectic. I ended each day tired but somehow yearning for the next one.

“Well, it's been good I guess. We've been busy, and nobody is being a trouble. It's all perfect actually” I told him and of course I had excepted the incident with John.

We both know that had been unfortunate but strangely, so far we had not had any other is

LuciaI clung to her shoulders longer than I should have, the tears wetting the fabric of her gown before I finally pulled away. My face felt warm, raw from crying, and when I looked at her, she still had that calm expression, like she had expected this all along.“I don’t know how to explain it,” I said quietly, my voice almost breaking again. “I’m happy, I’m grateful, but sometimes I feel like I’m just here alone, watching everything move too fast, and I don’t even know if I’m doing the right thing. It’s like one wrong step and I’ll lose all of it. I don’t have anyone here except Rhein, and even with him I don’t want to appear weak. But inside, I am weak. I’m tired, and I’m scared, and sometimes I just want to run back to where life was simple.”She listened without interruption, her head tilted slightly, her hands folded on her lap as though she was storing every word carefully. Her silence gave me courage to continue.“I don’t have my family, my friends, nothing familiar anymore.

LuciaWe went into the room and directly to our chairs. I didn't know where I had gotten the energy from but I was all smiles to everyone, greeting politely. This time instead of Rhein's father to be seated with Victoria just as usual, he was with Alexia instead. Victoria was seated a seat away from Alexia.Maybe it was a routine although I had never seen both of them sitting away from each other. It made me wonder if they had an argument.I couldn't know anyway since he looked pretty normal and Victoria seemed to be all smiles as usual but maybe I should have realized then. I couldn't be blamed for not though.Rhein helped pull my chair out and waited until I had sat down to sit down himself. It was when we had settled that food was usually served. The servants went round placing the dishes properly so we could all take whatever portion we wanted. I was happy with this style, it let me have enough.I dished my food, watching as Rhein did his and as usual we waited until he ate before

  • Lycan King's Rebel Bride    52: Kiss Him

LuciaWe went back to the office, riding up and going our separate ways. It felt like a weird separation from someone you loved. It was funny. As soon as I was in the office, I sat down and just a few minutes later, Beth walked in with two files in her hands. Work again.“Good afternoon ma'am, these documents were sent to you to modify the contract between the Mills and us" she handed it to me.I picked it up, “Thank you Beth. I'll do just do that” I waited until she had left the room to open the document. I began to read through again. There had been some minor details I had missed earlier on and now it gave me the chance to fix it. It felt as I read through the clauses like they had wanted to cheat us.Some had been ridiculously tightened and given to just benefit them, no thought for us. It made me wonder if I should do the same.Make them to our benefit or make them equal like most of ours had been. I thought about it for a while about what Rhein would think and did just that.Whe

  • Lycan King's Rebel Bride    51: Why do I do this to myself?

LuciaHe smiled at me as if he could sense something. “I can clearly see you don't want to talk about it though. So I don't know" he sounded hesitant. That was the first time I had heard him hesitant, ever and it made me feel somehow. I knew that this conversation would have to be held.I could stall for as long as I could but it would have to happen. Unless somehow he ended the wedding or I successfully ran away, it would happen. So I released a breath, accepting my faith that this conversation would happen today, even if my mind fought to run away.“We'll talk about it today but I would like to eat first" I told him which was true. I could feel my stomach rumble, I would have to eat before discussing something so important. He shrugged, his face had brightened a little that we would still talk about it, “That's fine with me. We can do it after eating" he agreed.I felt grateful for that. I needed to gather my wits for it and prepare my mind to start on the path of acceptance. All th

  • Lycan King's Rebel Bride    49: Jeremiah Mills

LuciaI took a sip of water, clearing my throat and after taking a deep breath I began to tell him the dream. I told him everything I remembered.I told him from waking up feeling like someone was trying to break into the room, I wasn't wrong and so before they were inside, I went to hide somewhere.I hid in the wardrobe, watched this person move around the room and then stop. Then he turned around and opened the wardrobe door.Even as I told the story, I was very far from where it had happened but the fear was still there. I could feel my heart racing as I remembered it again. He stood in front of me, I couldn't see his face because there wasn't anything there but I told Rhein what the man had said. About the truth that I had no idea about.I knew the next thing that happened was a surprise, suddenly he was dead and on the floor, I never got to see the face of who killed him either.Suddenly I wasn't there anymore. I was in a while different house, I was in this huge room where there
