~ LYRA ~

Knowing it’s time to hunt, my wolf nudges Lyra’s wolf toward the trees tentatively. At first, she moves awkwardly, testing her legs as she wobbles from side to side, but then she finally finds her balance.

Her spine straightens as she stands tall, the wind shuffling through her brown fur, the lush strands like waves in an ocean. She takes a few hesitant steps again, as though she wants to be certain her legs will hold her before she attempts it for real.

With a soft growl, I gently nip her flank, urging her to trust in her abilities. She shoots me a look, her gaze playful, and I give her another heave with my nose, edging her forward. The gesture is greeted with a soft snort and the turning of her head as she stares into the distance, eyes alert.

I feel the anticipation flowing from her, our connection growing and solidifying our bond as we get ready for the hunt.

And when she takes off in a graceful lope, I follow.

~ RONAN ~ I flick Lyra's clit with my tongue, making sure the contact is hard and fast. She whimpers, her luscious thighs shaking. Perfect. She’s right where I need her to be. “Yes,” she cries, burying her fingers in my hair. “God, yes.” I keep going, sucking softly, plunging my tongue into her heat. At the same time, I open the tiny bottle and slick up my fingers. When they’re good and wet, I bring my hand to her bottom, searching for and finding her anus. I take care as I press one finger against her, feeling resistance. Since Lyra has never experienced the joys of anal sex, I want to make sure her first time is pleasurable, not frightening. I hear her harsh intake of breath when I pierce her that first tiny bit. Fuck. Tight as hell. I withdraw my fingers, placing my hands on her thighs. “Flip over.” “Wait. What?” She bolts upright, resting her weight on her elbows. Her eyes are clouded with lust. “You’ve got to be kidding. You can’t leave me like this.” “Flip,” I growl, fo

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 46 — How the Hell Did I Get So Lucky?

~ RONAN ~ I can’t help but admit to myself that my little minx is stronger than I’ve given her credit for. She’s not only managed to change like a full-blooded werewolf, but she also instinctively reached out to me as she did it. I was stunned, gawking at her like she’d grown a third head. I couldn’t prevent my reaction. Halflings simply don’t acclimate to the change as easily as Lyra did, as though she’s been shifting for most of her life. Her hot little body brushes against mine as I climb the stairs, her hard nipples rubbing against my chest. I hadn’t been sure how the night would play out when it came to this moment. She’s been through so much. It isn’t fair to ask for more. Even if my wolf demands it. Worry and doubt rear their ugly heads. Will she deny me what wolves consider true mating? Only one way to find out. I lower her to the ground, placing my hands on her waist. “I’m taking all of you tonight,” I growl, thrusting my aching cock against her abdomen. Reaching down,

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 45 — Time to Play

~ LYRA ~ A part of me doesn’t want to go back just yet. I’ve only gotten a taste of things to come, and I want more. Not that it matters—Ronan is already herding me in the direction he wants me to go. His teeth are sharp as he bites at my flanks, forcing me to shift from a slow walk to a steady lope. My nose pilots me through the trees, the scent of the cabin growing stronger. Shit! I love my mate, but sometimes, he can be a real stubborn son of a gun. The truth is, I’m not the least bit tired. It’s obvious in the way my muscles stretch under my skin as we whip past the expanse of trees. If I wanted, I could keep going like this for hours. It feels glorious—running wild and free, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Even the cold isn’t a factor. I’m perfectly warm, my skin radiating the same kind of heat Ronan does. Without warning, the large dark wolf beside me takes off. He charges up the stairs and pauses in front of the door. I stop at the foot of the porch, aware of the annoyin

~ RONAN ~ I pull Lyra closer to me and drop my guard, letting my wolf surface just enough to brush against hers. It’s instinctive—my beast recognizes its mate and rushes to merge our forces. We collide in a flurry of raw energy and growls. When she tenses in my arms, gasping for air, I mold her tighter against my chest, already knowing she’s seconds from bolting. There’s no turning back. Not for her. The first step of the shift has already begun—whether she’s ready or not. “It’s okay, baby girl,” I growl, my voice thick and low. “It’s time. Let her out. I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere.” With her in my arms, I make my way out of the kitchen, no longer able to mute the primal cry from the moon. My pulse pounds, the rush of blood in my head almost deafening. A quick flick of my wrist opens the back door, and I glide over the porch and down the stairs, the soft white rays of moonlight bathing us. A low whimper from Lyra sears through me, and I am yanked away from the urge

~ RONAN ~ I watch my mate step into our cabin. She has refused to put away the laptop that contains the letters Magnus gave her. She’s practically hugging it like it’s some kind of lifeline. The trip from the hunt to her parent's property had been a quiet one. When we arrived, she exchanged a tearful farewell with her stepparents, climbed into my car, turned on the laptop, and continued reading. Every emotion pulsing off her—fear, hurt, despair—hits me like a blow. I touched her when I could, easing her turmoil in the only way I knew how. Now that we’re here and she’s finished reading, it’s time we talk—about what she learned and where we go from here. The full moon hums in my blood, tugging at the wolf inside me, but I push it back. I could smell Lyra’s shifting energy. I saw the way she fidgeted when she stepped out of the car. Time’s not on our side, but this conversation has to happen. She finally relinquishes her grip on the laptop and places it on the counter as she
