ログインLiora’s POV The final clash felt like it was the end of the goddamn world. Unit Prime came at us from the left like a freight train made of rage and charred flesh, while the lead Forsaken came from the right, its blood-red eyes burning with some strange kind of hunger. My body screamed in protest, shoulder torn open, ribs bruised, throat still raw from being choked, but I refused to fall. Not now. Not when we were this close. “Kade!” I shouted “I’ve got the Forsaken! You take Prime!” Kade’s black wolf form snarled in acknowledgment, launching himself at Unit Prime with every ounce of Alpha fury he had left. The impact when they collided was deafening, like two mountains crashing together. I turned to face the Forsaken, gripping the jagged metal pipe tighter even though my arms were shaking. “You want Thorn blood? Come take mine first, you disgusting parasite.” T
Kade’s POVThe explosion had turned the night sky into an inferno, if you know what I mean by that. The flames were behind us, consuming what remained of Michelle’s nightmare facility. The smoke was everywhere, thick and smelling of chemical, and everytime that I inhaled, my lungs seemed to burn. But none of that mattered.Unit Prime was still alive, and that was a problem. The monstrous creation stepped out of the blazing wreckage like a demon walking through hell. One arm was completely gone, half its body charred black and cracked, yet the hatred in those golden eyes were still very much alive. Behind it, shadows moved, the Forsaken, their blood-red eyes cutting through the smoke like fresh wounds.I pushed myself up, every bone and muscle screaming in protest. My left shoulder was shattered again, ribs cracked, and blood poured from too many gashes to count. But Liora was beneath me, breathing hard, her face stained with soot and blood.“You okay?” I asked, and cupped her cheek
Liora’s POVEverything hurt like hell.My throat was on fire, crushed under Unit Prime’s strong grip. Each breath felt like swallowing broken glass. My vision kept being unsteady, black spots dancing at the edges, but I refused to pass out. I could still see Kade fighting like a demon, bloodied and refusing to give up even for one second.I dug my nails harder into Prime’s thick wrist, trying to pry those steel fingers loose. “You.. fucking.. disappointment,” I choked out, voice barely more than a rasp. “All that power.. and you still need Michelle to tell you what to do.”Prime inclined its head at me, those cold golden eyes studying me like I was a bug under a microscope. “Defiance in the face of certain death. Illogical. Yet, intriguing. Perhaps your mate chose well.”“Shut up and die already!” I gasped.Kade’s roar shook the crumbling room as he slammed into Prime’s side with everything he had. The impact finally loosened the monster’s grip enough for me to suck in a desperate br
Kade’s POVThe core server room had cold blue light that buzzed like a bee. The servers were tall and they stretched from floor to ceiling, pulsing like bunch of living hearts. The countdown glared back at us from every screen.00:04:47Sable was already moving, pulling out a small explosive charge from her pack. “We plant this on the main nexus and run like hell. It’ll trigger a cascade failure.”I set Liora down gently against the wall. She was breathing, even blood trickled from the corner of her mouth. “Liora, talk to me.”She winced but managed a weak smirk. “I’ve had worse kisses. Finish this shit so we can get that date, Thorn.”Jax limped in behind us, dragging the door shut. “They’re tearing each other apart out there. Prime versus the Forsaken. It’s a bloodbath.”“Good,” Sable muttered, slapping the charge onto the central server. “Let them kill each other. We just need three minutes.”That sounded like a little bit of time but in such situations as this one, it could be ver
Kade’s POVThe facility shook again, harder this time. Red emergency lights strobed across the hallway like blood pulsing through veins.Unit Prime’s grip on my throat loosened for a split second as it tilted its head, listening to something only it could hear. “Forsaken protocol, unauthorized.”I drove my knee into its gut and shoved it back. “Sounds like your masters are eating each other. How does that feel, you lab-grown freak?”Prime smiled, black blood dripping from its mouth. “It feels efficient. One problem takes the other one away.”Liora appeared at my side, breathing hard, knife still clenched in her fist. “Less philosophy, more dying, asshole.” She slashed at its face, opening a deep gash across its cheek.Sable fired three rounds into Prime’s back. “Kade, the override! Hit the self-destruct! We can still blow this place!”I ran towards the shattered control panel and started ripping wires, trying to trigger the manual sequence. Sparks flew everywhere like I was trying to
Kade’s POVUnit Prime stood at the bottom of the stairs like it owned death itself. It was bigger than the others, easily seven feet tall even in human form, with corded muscle and scars that looked like they’d been earned sometime it went hell. Its golden eyes shone with something that was almost personal. Like it had a vendetta against me.“I was created to kill you,” it said, its voice calm and deep. “Every simulation. Every training scenario. All of them ended with your spine in my hands.”I pushed Liora and Sable back a step. “Then come take it, big guy. I’ve had a long night.”Unit Prime smiled again. “This bravado of yours is expected, But it will be ineffective.”It moved. No blur, no warning, just pure explosive power. One second it was at the bottom of the stairs, the next it was slamming into me like a freight train. We crashed through the metal railing and hit the lower landing hard.“Kade!” Liora screamed.I tasted blood as Unit Prime pinned me, one massive hand around my
CAINE The board members meeting room had practically changed. It wasn't how I used to know it before. A couple of gadgets had been added. And there was a forest decor. I wondered who the hell added pictures of vegetative forest to a meeting room. Kade? Did he like the view of nature or what
CAINE I walked into my old office and realized that nothing had been changed. Everything was still in its place but the room was spick and span. I liked that. I sat in my executive chair and rotated it clockwise. Then I looked out the window. Things were less smaller from this point. I didn'
KADE I answered the call when I saw whose name was displayed as the caller ID. I had been wanting to speak with him. "Morning, Caine. Seems like you decided to sleep in.""Morning, Kade. I went to a nice whorehouse yesterday and got some girls to spend ample time with me before the flight.
CAINE Landing was a bit bumpy but we survived it. It was already Tuesday by the time I touched down in Philadelphia. Then I took another short flight to Los Angeles. I didn't even bother heading to my condo first, but went straight to the office. The building was a magnificent one. Tall an
