I held my tears back, finding it pointless to cry, although they kept on pouring.

“I loathe you, Ethan. I hate you more than I have ever hated anything in this world. You are right, it’s good that it’s gone. You would have made a horrible father; you are too toxic to be one. And that’s why I killed it. Because I could not bear the thought of having a child with a mentally deranged man like you.” I said, my voice dropping with every ounce of emotion I felt for him, as my breathing turned heavy.

He must have felt the genuineness in the words, because his hands around my neck tightened. My vision grew hazy from the pressure, and I was left gasping for air.

My hands clawed at his in a futile attempt to pry him off me. And when I thought he was really going to kill me, he let go. Pushing himself off me, he reacted like I scalded him.

I swallowed. I could feel tears burning at the back of my eyes, yet I would never let them drop.“Let’s go home, Ethan,” I rasped. He said nothing, but stood still watching me.I moved to walk towards where he stood, only for something to tug me back.I watched as Ethan's eyes flickered to the skin where Tyler’s palm to the flesh of my hands. My angry eyes turned, snapping to the face of a hopeful Tyler.“Are you really going with him, Leah?” He questioned. His words sounded absurd to me. I tugged my hands away from his, but still having the decency of replying to him, knowing he had saved my life today.“Yes.”“You know I’m always here—waiting for you Leah.Ethan is unstable. He might—““Ethan is my husband,” I snapped in anger, cutting him off, and I watched as shock clouded his features.I tried to find it in me to feel bad towards him, but then, there was nothing here.Just anger.Angry for the fact that he had given his family the implications that I was his girlfriend knowing

“What are you doing here?” I whispered in shock.Never in a million years expecting to see him here. His lips curved into a devilish smirk. One that I had come to know so well. One that hid the monster beneath him.He moved closer to where I stood, as he slowly closed the distance between us.I felt Tyler’s fingers slipping around my waist, and he tightened his fingers around me, pulling me to himself.Ethan paused, his eyes moving to where Tyler’s fingers were wrapped around my body. His gaze darkened as he stared directly into my eyes. And I could see a flicker of hurt brimming within.I stood still in Tyler’s arms, my gaze moving to his in shock.I wondered what the hell he was doing and why he was trying to provoke Ethan.“What are you doing in our home?” Ethan’s sister growled from behind us, as she moved towards where I stood.Ethan said nothing, his eyes never moving away from mine as his jaw ticked slowly.“Get your hands away from my wife, Rivers,” he hissed. His voice was de

“What…no…no, what are you doing, Tyler?” I asked, my eyes flared in shock as I watched him.He sighed, his hands around the steering wheel tightening as he clenched his jaws. “I’m trying to help you, Leah.I cannot send you home like this.Ethan, would not care if you were on the verge of death. He tried to—““Ethan is my husband, Tyler. And you’ll address him properly,” I growled jerking up with the seat belt still wrapped around me.His jaw locked hard, yet he said nothing to my comment. “Don’t think too much about it,” he breathed after a moment of silence.“I just wanted to make you more comfortable, Leah. You were shaken up back there. And then, taking you to a hospital, in a room filled with strange people would make matters worse.”“What are you trying to do, Tyler?I’m a married woman,” I scowled my tone hard with a warning, noticing his behavior today was strange.Letting out a gush of air from his lips—his eyes never darted away from the windscreen of his car as he drove.

“And he is not the kind of man, anyone in this world should ever mess with,” he muttered. My blood ran cold, as I stared at him with wide eyes, my ears unable to believe what I had heard.A man?Who was he? Why would any man kidnap me?The only people who I bore grievances with were Jenniifer and Vivian.“And you know, that makes me wonder what a woman like you would have done to step on the toes of a monster like him,” he gritted in amusement and a tone which sounded like pity.“Who…who is he?What’s his name, tell me,” I pressed, as questions reeled in my mind and I struggled to comprehend what was happening.“The man who ordered us to kidnap you is—“ the sound of sirens coming from outside made him paused.I watched as his eyes widened, as his lackeys behind him jerked up in fear.“Boss the police,” one of them said in panic as Spider muttered a curse.“Who called the police?” He growled pacing around as he ran a hand through his hair.“The police are here?” I thought in happiness.

My disoriented eyes landed on deep swirls of black ones as I swallowed. My gaze shifted from his face and bile rose up my throat from anxiousness as I took in my environment. The entire place was rough, filled with crates and cartons. Some looked somewhat empty and others full.My body froze in realization of what this meant. They must have brought me to an abandoned warehouse.Terror clawed in my chest as my eyes moved back, taking in the four pairs of eyes staring at me.Their masks still on their faces hiding their identity. They were four of them, and they all watched me like a hawk—as if ready to take me down at any minute.“Who…who are you?” I stuttered, trying to keep my fear in check as sweat dripped down my forehead. The black eyes man laughed loudly in my face. His disgusting breath of smoke wafted in my nose, and I wanted to scrunch my face in disgust—but fear kept me grounded.“You are in no position to ask any questions now, princess,” he snarled, leaving not an inch of d
