Chapter 2

It was a beautiful morning, and the very thought of spending the rest of my life on money made it splendid.

I went about my day wearing a broad smile and greeting every single person I met. I carefully selected everything I needed for the dinner date and visited the saloon earlier for finishing touches before I rushed home to dress up.

It was 7 p.m. when my phone rang, I picked it up, and it was him.

Yeah, I mean him, my prince charming with running over pocket. I looked out the window, and there were three SUVs parked outside. I grabbed my clutch and dashed out.

He wasn't as handsome as he looked in the picture, but who cares? Money covers everything, and besides, who cares about looks when he is loaded?

He steals glances at me once in a while. I knew I charmed him already, but I still need to keep my A game up.

All the way to God knows where he was taking me I had a lot of things I imagined were waiting for me where he was taking me. I could see myself leaping for joy at a well-decorated outdoor dinner with balloons, flowers, and beautiful lights.

"Oh yeah," I smiled while checking my hot billionaire out. I don't care what you think about me, but if you love wallowing in poverty, I actually don't.

The car came to a halt, and a few seconds later one of his men opened the door. I glided down like the princess I am, but was shocked at the sight of a bar.

Of all places Declan Wright could take me to, he brought me to a bar dressed like this. The disappointment was written all over my face, that he noticed my disappointed face.

"Did something happen?" Declan queried.

I had wanted to give him a piece of my mind but decided otherwise.

Who cares about where he took me on our first date as long as I get a rock on my finger? Everything is settled.

I smiled immediately upon remembering the mission at hand.

"Nothing; it's never been better," I replied, all smiles.

"This way then," he stretched towards the entrance.

We got inside, and the place was packed. Of all the nice places and restaurants, he had to bring me to this bar.

We sat down at a VIP table upstairs. I occasionally looked down to the people dancing; it was getting too loud, but how could I ever leave without a rock on my finger?

A girl in her twenties came to take our orders. I noticed how Declan's eyes lingered on her mini skirt, but I waved it off.

He is the new CEO of Wrights Conglomerate, a multimillion-dollar company.

His father, who was the former CEO, suffered a stroke a few months ago, making him the sole heir.

Are you surprised? Don't be; I really did my homework.

I knew I hit the jackpot when his name popped up. Call me a gold digger, but I'm going to charm his pants off tonight.

"You look a bit tensed; are you sure you're okay?"

"I'm fine," I quickly replied while I gulped down the glass of whiskey on the table.

"So tell me about you; besides, what's your real name?" Declan queried.

I explained it to him while twisting things a little here and there. He doesn't really expect me to be entirely honest with him now does he?

He was very attentive while I explained. Well, there is one thing I'm grateful to God for; since he denied me wealth, he gave me something to acquire the wealth with, and that is my looks.

He told me a little about himself, and I came to the conclusion that he has weird taste, doing things that ordinarily no one wants to do, but I guess it's one of the perks of being extremely rich and bored.

"Anyways, we can always work something out; I wouldn't have to go anywhere with him except to make an appearance at some formal occasions." I tried consoling myself.

"Why are you still single?" Declan asked

I almost choked on my drink. Come on,  who asks that kind of question? I looked at him with both brows raised and dazed. I quickly masked my emotions and gave him a decent reply.

"I guess I have been too busy to settle down," I answered, smiling sheepishly.

"Aren't we all?" he laughed also.

I am gradually losing my cool, but I remembered all I stand to gain if things work out and calmed myself down.

"Is it just me or is it getting hot in here?" I muttered to myself. I used my hands to fan myself a bit.

I signaled the waiter to order another glass of whiskey. She came over with my order and dropped it on the table. Declan took a quick glance at her legs the second time, and it was really creeping me out. My throat was getting dry, and the whole room was getting too stuffy.

"Please, can I get some water?" I asked the waiter.

"Sure"

I took a mouthful of whiskey and was about to gulp it down when Declan ambushed me with the most awkward question of all time.

"When last did you get tested for STDs?"

I choked on my drink, spilling it on his face and suit.

He sat down on the chair, eyes shut, looking like a drenched cat.

"I'm sorry" I stood up almost immediately, grabbed a napkin, and dried his face and suit.

"I'm really sorry." I kept on apologizing.

"It's okay, it's just a little liquor." Declan finally found his voice as he took the napkin off my hands.

I felt a bit terrible as I went back to my chair. I know he has been acting all stupid and dumb, but no one deserves this. I was still feeling bad about the whole situation when the waiter came over with a glass of water.

"Here is your water," she gently said while setting it down on the table.

"Thank you; could you please get some more nap........?"

"Hey!" the waiter screamed.

"What the hell did you just do?" the waiter asked, face all red, palm folded to a fist, and ready to pounce on Declan.

She was about to land him some blows, but one look from his manager deterred her, and she stormed off.

I couldn't believe my eyes. I sat down, still bewildered at the event that just played out right in front of me.

I couldn't hide my disgust for this dumb pervert; I stood up immediately, took the glass of water, and threw it at him.

"Asshole!" I grabbed my clutch and stormed off.
