The mountains appeared darker than Luna remembered.

They rose above the forest like enormous shadows, their peaks disappearing into the clouds.

Luna walked between Kael and Selene, while her father followed behind them.

Nobody spoke.

The closer they came to the mountains, the stronger the strange pressure inside Luna became.

She could feel something beneath the ground.

Something old.

Something awake.

Kael finally broke the silence.

"How much do you know about these mines?"

Luna's father looked

  • MOON BOUND    THE FIRST MOON

The chamber was completely silent.Luna stared at the silver figure standing beyond the ancient gate.It wasn't human. It wasn't a wolf.It was something far older. Its body seemed to be made from moonlight itself, yet Luna could see the shape of a woman beneath the glow.Long silver hair floated around her.Her eyes were bright enough to illuminate the entire chamber.Luna couldn't move. The voice came again."Luna Blackwood."This time, it sounded inside her mind."I have waited three centuries for you."Luna swallowed."Who are you?"The figure stepped forward."I am the First Moon."A wave of energy moved through the chamber.Every Moonborn lowered their heads.Even the council leader dropped to one knee.Luna looked at him."You knew she was here."He didn't answer."You brought me here because of her."The council leader slowly stood."Yes."Luna's eyes narrowed."Why?""Because she is the only one who can restore the balance."The First Moon looked toward him."You have misunde

  • MOON BOUND    THE NIGHTFANG ALPHA

The forest remained silent long after the Nightfang wolves disappeared.Luna stood at the edge of the mansion grounds, staring at the trees. She could still feel them.Hundreds of minds.Hundreds of wolves. All connected to her.Waiting.Kael walked toward her."You shouldn't have done that."Luna looked at him."Done what?""Claimed them.""I didn't know what else to do.""You could have let me handle it."She raised an eyebrow."And how exactly were you planning to handle an army?"Kael opened his mouth. Then closed it.Luna smiled."Exactly."Selene walked up behind them."She's right."Kael looked at her."You're enjoying this.""A little."Luna laughed. For a moment, everything felt normal. Then the connection inside her suddenly tightened.Luna's smile disappeared."What?"Kael noticed."What happened?""Something is wrong."She closed her eyes. The forest appeared in her mind. The Nightfang wolves were moving.Fast.But they weren't leaving. They were surrounding something.Lun

  • MOON BOUND    THE RETURN

The first thing Luna felt was cold. Not the ordinary cold of winter. This was different. It felt as though ice had settled beneath her skin. She opened her eyes. The sky above her was blue.Real blue.Clouds moved slowly across it.For several seconds, she simply stared. Then she heard someone groan beside her."Kael?""I'm here."She turned.Kael was lying a few feet away. His clothes were covered in dirt, but he was alive.Luna sat up quickly."Where's Selene?""I'm here."Selene pushed herself off the ground.Luna looked around. They were back in the forest. The old ruins were behind them. The red moon was gone. The normal moon hung above the trees."We're back."Kael looked toward the sky."Yes."Luna touched her wrist. The silver mark was there. But something had changed.A thin black line ran through its center.Kael noticed."What happened?"Luna shook her head."I don't know."Selene stepped closer."The Shadow."Luna looked at her."What about it?""It's still inside you."Lu

  • MOON BOUND    BEYOND THE GATES

The sky was wrong.Luna knew it immediately. There was no sun.No stars.Only a massive silver moon hanging above a black horizon. She stood completely still.Beside her, Selene stared at the castle in the distance."Where are we?" Luna whispered.Selene swallowed."Beyond the Lunar Gate."Luna looked behind them. There was nothing. No doorway. No ruins. No forest.Just darkness."How do we get back?"Selene didn't answer.Luna turned toward her."Selene.""I don't know."That was the first time Luna had heard fear in her sister's voice.A cold wind moved across the empty land. Then the castle gates opened.Luna stared.Someone was standing inside. Her father. But he wasn't the man she had seen earlier. His eyes were black. His face was expressionless. And behind him stood hundreds of shadowy figures.Selene grabbed Luna's hand."Don't go near him."Luna stared at her father."That's not him.""No.""Then where is he?""Inside."Luna's heart tightened."We have to get him out."Selene

  • MOON BOUND    THE RED MOON

The moon had turned red.Luna stood frozen beside the window, staring at it.For a moment, nobody spoke. Then another howl echoed through the forest. This one was closer.Kael moved toward the window."Everyone stays inside."Selene shook her head."That's not going to help."Kael turned."What do you mean?""The wolves aren't attacking.""Then what are they doing?""Calling."Luna looked at her."Calling who?"Selene's eyes moved toward the red moon."Him."Luna's stomach tightened."The Shadow?"Selene nodded.Kael immediately reached for his weapon."We need to move.""Where?""Somewhere protected."Selene shook her head."There is nowhere protected anymore."Kael stared at her."What happened to the barriers?""They're gone."His expression changed."All of them?""Yes."Luna stepped forward."How?"Selene looked at her."When the council disappeared, they took the barriers with them.""Why would they do that?""Because they weren't protecting us.""Then what were they protecting?
