YOO-MI’s POV
I woke up to the smell of Grandma cooking my favorite bokkeumbap, mixed with the smell of bacon and sausages. My head still pounding from all the crying I did last night. Honey laid beside me where Jeonghan should have been.My daughter refused to leave me, to sleep in her own room. She said she wanted to comfort me, but she said she didn’t know how, so she just stayed beside me and gave me the sweetest hug and kissed me every time.My feet touched the floor and I stretched my arms over my head and walked towards the bathroom. I untied my silky red dress as it pooled down at my feet. Red. The color of my bleeding heart.I turned on the shower knob and stepped under it. The cold water stung as I waited for it to turn warm. When I closed my eyes, all I can see was him, his eyes, his sweet smile. So gentle, so warm, like the water as it cascaded down my back.My finger slid along the tile as I think back to that evening he made lovYOO-MI’s POVEmbarrassment swarmed across my body as I snatched my heels and harshly sat down on top of my bed.Josh grabbed my feet and I watched him as he put on the shoes on me with tenderness. He looked up and I felt the blood in my veins turned to ice.“I’m sorry Yoo-Mi, it’s just…” He began. He’s struggling to explain why he just felt me up, kissed me, and then stopped.“It’s okay Josh, I know you love Yeri and I shouldn’t have kissed you back. It’s wrong. It was so wrong.” I snapped before getting up from the bed and walking to my full-length mirror. “What are you doing here anyway?”“I came here to check on you,” he said, sitting down on my bed, watching me. “You looked so gorgeous in that dress.” His eyes gleamed as they raked slowly down my body.“Thank you,” I forced out a laugh. “You didn’t have to drive a
YOO-MI’s POVYeri goes through her introductions as I watched our client, Mr. Vernon Chwe sitting beside her. He was leaning back in his chair, his right legs propped up his left knee, an expensive Rolex watch strapped on his beautiful wrist. He has money obviously and he’s staring straight up to Yeri with admiration in his eyes like they’ve known each other for so long.Vernon laughed, a little too loud, a little too long. It’s so obvious from the way Yeri’s eyes lingered on him, tilting her face flirtatiously towards him.She is batting her lashes to Vernon while talking, holding his gaze and slapping his arm playfully like I wasn’t here watching them. Well, we’re five in the room and the other three were discussing on their own. I am the only one who’s observing suspiciously with these two.Her laughter rumbled, shaking her head. She never laughed at Josh like this, is she cheating on my best friend? Oh God, that
YOO-MI’s POV“Okay,” Vernon said softly and removed his shirt again throwing it back on the floor. I could see the lust in his eyes and I swallowed heavily. You can do this Yoo-Mi, for Josh.“Come here,” he said and I walked closer and stopped right in front of him.He patted his lap. “Closer,” he said, his voice a dark, dangerous timbre. Trench-deep.He reached out a hand and grasped my wrist. And then with a tug, I am on his lap.“I won’t let you fall.” He whispered a hot breath in my ear.He tilted his head and dragged his gaze slowly, languidly over me, taking his time running to my shoulder, down the sweep of my long brown hair, lingering on the shadowed cleavage between my breasts which I purposedly opened two buttons of my blouse for him to see it, for me to seduce him.My chest rose and fell madly, frantically with every pant, every rasp of my labored breaths.“What
JOSH’s POVWhen mom and dad finally reconciled, my heart felt overwhelmed but why do I feel like it was still empty. Yes, I have a girlfriend and that was Yeri but my heart shouts for another woman.I felt guilty for kissing her, like the first time I told Yoo-Mi that I’m in love with her and Jeonghan was already her boyfriend.I took another bite of pizza as I stared out the window down the Sunset Boulevard, everything glowing red and green down the street. Candy cane striped store fronts.A few tourists meander down the streets, taking in the Christmas lights. Well, Christmas is coming and I want to celebrate the most important holiday of the year with the woman I love. When Jeonghan came back into Yoo-Mi’s life, I thought I’ve lost her the second time around. I thought she was falling for me too but I was wrong. That night, I found myself in one of the famous clubs in Gangnam drowning in alcohol. And there I met Yeri. She was
YOO-MI’s POV“Vernon is my husband.”“What?” my eyes widened in horror while looking at Yeri to Vernon then back at Yeri. I can’t believe she did this to Josh.“I’m sorry Yoo-Mi but when Brittany showed me pictures of Vernon and another woman together, I left him in Daegu and moved here to Seoul.” Tears crept up in the corner of her eyes while explaining everything to me.“Brittany?” I asked, surprised. “How the hell does Brittany’s name got involved here?”I felt shocked coursed through me like a punch in the gut, stealing my breath in one forceful slam. I could hear Yeri saying something but I couldn’t make out anything through the frantic swirl of thoughts as my brain struggled to piece together a story that made more sense than the ridiculous notion that Brittany was somehow involved in all of this.Brittany again! When will she stop ruining my life, it was alr
JOSH’S POVI pulled the car to a stop in the parking lot adjoining Yeri’s apartment and killed the engine. I jumped out of the car immediately and entered the building, making my way to the elevators.I waited patiently for the ride as it ascended the building, glaring at the buttons and ignoring the couple sharing a ride with me.Once the doors slid open on the 14th floor, I marched along the wide corridor and made a stop to her room. I have my spare keys but I chose to knock. And the door opened wide with Yeri looking haggard and worn in pajamas and red-rimmed eyes.“Hello Yeri,” I spoke softly, watching her eyes widening as she registered my presence.“Josh!” Yeri exclaimed, my gaze fixed on her who’d gone white with shock. “W-What are you doing here? I-I thought you’re going to spend Christmas in LA with your mom and dad?” she rasped taking a step back as though she had seen a ghost.&
YOO-MI’s POVI need a drink.I really need a drink. The Club Syndrome is a huge bar on the outskirts of town, far off the beaten path. It’s popular with tourists and a few town regulars. Different colors of lights emitted a bright glow outside its huge glass door making the whole place lighted.I gnawed on the inside of my cheek, arms over my chest, debating whether or not I really wanted to go in.I’ve never been to a bar before. I picked Josh up once after he passed out during a friend’s bachelor party. I stayed in the car while one of his friends helped him to get inside the car. Josh spent most of the drive home hurling his guts out the open back window as I laughed hysterically from the driver’s seat. I shook my head, smiling at the thought of my best friend.I didn’t know why I was here, why I drove here. Why this late at night, I was suddenly looking for something to dull the ache? But I really really need
YOO-MI’s POVSubconsciously, my fingers ran up at the back of Josh’s neck and I felt him stiffen instantly. He stopped following my moves and froze. Then he relaxed and pulled me closer to him.The side of his face rested against my hair as my face buried on his chest. I savored his warm male scent, his hard body pressing against mine, and his heart beating erratically against my palm.“What are you doing Yoo-Mi?” he spoke through his gritted teeth and I looked to his eyes full of lust and desire.“Is it bothering you, Josh?” I asked and he shook his head but he pushed me to the nearest wall in the bar, taking me by surprise. My entire body was on fire, anticipating what was about to happen next.He kept staring at me like he was trying to memorize every inch of my face and I frowned. “Josh,”“Ask for it Yoo-Mi,” he whispered.“Ask what?” I asked cluelessly. Confusion was seen
