Two old Friends Talking Again
April 23, 2009

"Here, dear, have some bacon and eggs. Do you want coffee or juice?" Lucille's mom said, putting a heap of bacon and two sunny side ups on my plate.
"Thank you, ma'am. Coffee is fine. Thanks." I smiled at her and began eating. I noticed how Lucille had her mom's eyes and smile, but the rest of her face she got from her dad.
Lucille sat between Boo and me. She was eating quietly and avoiding eye contact with the both of us. Boo and I on the other hand, kept glaring at each other whenever we had the chance. The truth was, I wanted to knock the daylight out of him for ruining my plans with Lucille.
All’s Fair in Love and War April 23, 2009 Lucille The farm looked even more amazing than the last time I saw it months ago. I closed my eyes and inhaled the fresh air around me. The sun kissing my skin and the wind blowing softly, made everything perfect. But of course grandpa’s loud voice broke the spell. I opened my eyes and looked their way. “Okay losers, are you ready to know what I plan to do with you?” “Yes, sir!” the two of them shouted in unison. Who do they think they are? Soldiers? “Papa Joe, what are you gonna make them do? Please don’t embarrass me.” I whisp
Challenge Accepted April 23, 2009 Boo I chewed my steak for less than five seconds and swallowed. I was eating like someone was chasing me. Never in my privileged life had I been so hungry and tired at the same time. And it was still the first challenge. It’s not like I was complaining, I mean, I work out in my gym, but not under the burning sun dehydrating me. Lucille smiled at me as she poured some cold apple juice in my glass. Even though exhaustion made me want to lie on the ground and sleep, I couldn't help but admit this was the most fun I've had in a really long time. There was a fleeting moment while running around from apple tree to apple tree that I remembered chasing Daisy in a vineyard once when we were in France. It was owned by one of my friends from college.
A Serenade To You April 23, 2009 Jasper I was alone in the backyard of the farmhouse checking my messages when Trisha, Lucille's friend, suddenly came out of nowhere. "You know, I've read about you in magazines and on the internet. So, you're really not a playboy anymore? coz I'm really really flexible, if you know what I mean." Trisha winked and then she raised her left leg up to her head. My eyes widened with amazement, but I told her I was a changed man because of Lucille. " Well, if she doesn't choose you in the end, you know where to find me." "Well, that's nice. Uhm I have to go find Lucille now so catch you later." I l
A Fool's Goodbye April 23, 2009 Lucille Every time his fingers strummed the strings, my heart mourned. Every word that came out of his mouth brought me back to moments, minutes, days, months, and years and years of memories. Meeting him in high school, the first time he wrote and sang me a song, falling in love with him, places we’ve been, things we did, things we planned to do, the wedding I wanted and the kisses and love making we’ve shared all jumbled up inside me as he sang his new song. An apology for his betrayal. An apology for breaking my heart and crushing my world; because he knew for six long years he was my whole world. It was grueling, but I didn’t show him my tears. I literally bit my tongue hard to distract myself from the pain my heart was complaining of. Somehow, I managed to maintain a poker face all thr
Call Me Back April 24, 2009 Boo “Hi, Corine. What’s up? I said walking toward the apple orchard to get away from the noise of the crowd gathered at the farmhouse. I rubbed my arms to get rid of the chills and goosebumps, not yet believing I really sang in front of Lu’s family and friends. Grandpa Joe even gave me a thumbs up which made me grin like a school boy getting his first gold star. “Boo? When are you coming home?” Corine’s voice sounded tired. “Damn it!” I said out loud as Jasper played a really great song. I could hear the women’s reaction from the entrance to the apple orchard, but couldn’t see them clearly. “What did you
RUN! April 23 (Close to midnight) Lucille I rubbed my arms as the cold wind blew. Nathan had just left and I could barely see his silhouette anymore. A few more steps and he was going to turn left towards the town and I felt sad knowing I’d probably only see him on TV from now on. I got up from the log and let out a sigh. It's finally over. The credits have rolled and our love story will be like one of the romantic movies I've watched. With a sad ending. Wait. Not sad. It's still happy because somehow both of us will still end up happily with different people. Right. Choose to be happy Lu. I brushed off my shorts and started walking towards t
Frank April 24, 2009 Boo I drove back to the house a little behind Lu's parents. By the time we reached where I saw the man lying face down on the side of the road, two police cars and an ambulance were already there. Elaine and Mike stopped their car and asked what happened. As I got out of my car, the hairs on my skin all stood up as I heard Elaine's shrill cry pierced through the cold air. Mike was holding her up as she fell to the ground. I ran toward them and saw Nathan lying there and bloody. My god, it was Nathan. I ran to the bushes nearby and puked. It was Nathan. What have I done
PSYCHOSApril 25, 2009JasperI opened my eyes, but closed it right back the moment a deadly headache erupted. The excruciating pain in my neck made me wince. I wanted to touch all the throbbing parts of my head and neck when the searing pain that started on my wrists, as I moved my hand, travelled throughout my arms, making me shout in agony. Where am I? Why does everything hurt?“Jasper.” Lucille’s weak voice brought everything back in a flash. The man, the gun, the fight, and waking up in a dark trunk that smelled of spoilt meat and blood. I remember kicking it and p
