Nico's POV:

I sat alone in the dark, the silence as thick as the shadows around me. The room smelled faintly of antiseptic and old wood, and my body ached in places I didn’t want to acknowledge. The stitches tugged against my side every time I moved, but it wasn’t the pain that kept me sitting there, motionless.

It was the weight.

Everything felt heavier now—my limbs, my chest, my thoughts. I stared at the wall until it blurred into nothing, my fingers pressed against the armrest of the old chair like it might hold me together.

She was gone. Karina. Gone from my side and somehow now my enemy. That truth sat in my chest like a shard of glass I couldn’t remove.

And I had no idea what tomorrow would look like.

I didn’t hear her enter.

Just the creak of the floorboard behind me, then the faint clink of ceramic. I turned my head slowly and saw Miley. She was quiet, hair tied back loosely, wearing one of those soft sweaters she only brought out in winter. She placed a plate of food on the s

Karina stood tall beneath the gray dawn sky, her black coat flaring behind her as her boots crunched on gravel. Around her, the last of her father’s men stood ready—guns loaded, eyes hard. Engines idled. Weapons clicked. She looked out over the hills with the sharpness of someone who had already buried one heart and was ready to tear another out.“Burn it all,” she said, voice cold. “We take Nico alive—if we can. If not... leave nothing standing.”The convoy rolled toward Nico’s safehouse on the Palermo outskirts. But fate had other plans.---In the small, dimly lit house tucked between olive trees and stone walls, Nico winced as Miley dabbed antiseptic across the stitches on his shoulder. Her brow was furrowed, and she held the gauze with steady hands, but he could see the worry pooling behind her eyes.“You’re not resting enough,” she muttered. He didn’t answer right away. Then his phone buzzed. It was Matteo.Nico answered in a low voice. “Yeah?”“They’re coming,” Matteo said shar

Karina's POV:Three days after I buried my father, I walked into hell dressed like mourning itself.Black silk gloves. Black heels. Black veil that kissed my cheeks like a ghost. My body moved forward, but my heart? It had been rotting in a coffin for seventy-two hours. The bar reeked of smoke, blood, and testosterone. Rafael’s stronghold. His men froze the moment they saw me—like a storm had stepped in wearing stilettos. One with a jaw like a pit bull sneered. “Shouldn’t you be crying in church, principessa?”Another smirked. “She’s in mourning, sure—but clearly not in hiding.”I let them talk. I let them circle, hiss and snicker like rats. But then Rafael raised his hand.“Enough,” he said, voice like gravel and iron. He was lounging in his throne of cracked leather, sipping something dark with ice cubes that clinked like bones. “Let her speak. I’m curious what death tastes like on her tongue.”I walked forward, slow and deliberate. Every step punctuated the silence like a war drum.

Karina’s POV“You’re a liar, Lorenzo!” I screamed, my voice hoarse, burning. “A lying, backstabbing traitor! Do you honestly think I’ll just swallow whatever filth you throw at me just because my father isn’t here to shut you up himself?”He flinched, but I pushed ahead, jabbing a finger into his chest, wishing I could carve out his heart myself. “I don’t give a damn what fantasy you’ve cooked up. Do think I’m that weak? That blind? You want to crawl into the throne now that he’s gone, don’t you? But let me remind you, you were nobody without him. Just his little lapdog. And now, you’ll be nothing again. I’ll throw you out of this gang so fast your name will be nothing but ash. You’ll beg for scraps, and you know what? Knowing that you were the right hand man to Don Corradi, nobody will even spare you a glass of water.”Lorenzo stood there with that same damn blank face that had fooled my father into trusting him, but not me. My breath heaved as I stepped closer, shoving him hard.

  • Mafia King's Contract Wife: The Angel of Revenge   Ch-33: The Funeral

Author's POV:Karina sat in the backseat of the sleek black car, silent like a phantom wrapped in a shroud of grief. Her black lace dress clung to her, elegant but soaked completely at the sleeves where her tears had fallen. It had barely been fifteen minutes since the car had driven out of the mansion, but her make-up was already ruined. Mascara streaked down her cheeks, highlighting her red and swollen eyes even more, while lipstick was smudged at the corners of her trembling mouth. Her third breakdown since that morning had left her breathless, tears still streaming down her face as she clutched a crumpled photo of her father against her chest, with its glossy surface smeared with sweat and mascara. The picture was an old one, from her sixteenth birthday. He had one hand on her shoulder, the other holding a cigar, laughing like the world would always be his.And now, he was gone. She pressed it to her chest, like maybe it could slow the collapse inside her.Her body was here, b

  • Mafia King's Contract Wife: The Angel of Revenge   Ch-32: War Cry

Author's POV:The hallway in Karina’s villa was dimly lit, shadows pooling beneath the antique sconces as if even the walls sensed something was off. Her heels clicked in a sharp, impatient rhythm against the marble floor. Ahe clutched her phone tight in one hand, knuckles white, thumb hovering over the last dialed number: her father, again. No answer. Her father had been clear about his reasons for attending the bidding. Apart from giving him even more control over the city, he wanted to show Nico his real strength. And once Nico would see that he couldn’t win without Don Corradi’s backing, he would come crawling back, groveling for mercy and apologizing for his arrogance. Her father had been cracking down on Nico's strongholds for weeks now… and now, this was the final straw which would break the camel's back. He would be begging her to forgive his betrayal, that's what Don Corradi had promised to his precious daughter. And his pampered princess had been waiting to hear those w
