Ray's face went through a whirlwind of emotions as we crossed paths outside the hospital: surprise, followed by a wave of relief. Flashing a brief, reassuring smile, I quickly made my way down the hallway, hopped into the elevator, and ascended eagerly to find out how he was doing.
