CAIN POV
“ We missed the chance. He is gone, Alpha. ” Xavier reveals as I sigh to myself.
I peer at Xavier from across the table, sitting on my chair. He looks like he is regretting not doing a good job at it.
“ How is your toe? Healed already? ” I ask him instead of yelling at him for doing such a poor job at keeping an eye on Elijah’s weird ass house.
Sometimes, it’s necessary for an Alpha to care about his people more than the enemy or their threats.
“ It’s the bone. It hasn’t healed yet but it will heal in a while, Alpha. ” Xavier replies and sits down on the chair across my table.
“ I am so sorry for this but he just never made an appearance back there, Alpha. Something is not right here. He took Miracle after going to great extents, but we got her back too easily and not to mention…Elijah was not there. ” He doubts the same thing as me.
