(Jace's POV)
“Dude, you've gotta break up with her today” Michael Clearwater, my best friend, said to me.I kept thinking about the dreams I had been having. It was the same thing all over again. There was this girl; but not my girlfriend, Montana. This girl was much prettier and her presence was almost divine.I couldn't remember her face clearly but I couldn't forget those eyes which shone brightly like the stars and her long golden...“Jace! Are you even listening to me, man?” Michael chuckled; his voice ripping through my thoughts.I nodded.“So where is it gonna be?” he asked. “How about you take her to dinner, then end it with her?”I was about to refuse the idea of dinner when I spotted her coming. Micheal did too and made a face.“I'll see you later,” he said to me and left the two of us alone.“What did he want?” Montana asked.I chuckled.“He's my best friend Mo. After tonight, he's going to be my Beta. I don't think he needs any reason to talk to me.”She flipped her hair and moved closer to me, wrapping her arms around my neck.“Speaking of tonight, I think we should celebrate early” She smirked and leaned in in for a kiss.I turned my head making the kiss land on my cheek. She pulled back.“What's wrong?” she asked.“Mo, we need to talk” I replied.“Okay. But can't it wait? I've got no panties on” she said, whispering the last part.I stepped away from her.“I'm serious Montana” I repeated. She collected herself and nodded.“I'm all ears.”I exhaled.“I've been doing a lot of thinking about us and I've decided, it's best to stop goofing around.”I paused to take a look at her. She didn't seem to catch on because she looked calm.I exhaled again.“I'm breaking up with you” I announced.I watched her eyebrows furrow.“We're supposed to get married Jace. My parents handed over being Alpha and Luna to your parents in exchange for us to get married.”“I know that Mo but I—”“So what the hell Jace?!” she yelled.“Don't raise your voice at me!” I growled in reply. She stepped back.“It's over between us Montana. Just please, stay away from me” I said more calmly now and walked away.✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽“You actually did it?” Michael asked for the umpteenth time.I chucked and nodded.“I'm so proud of you” he chuckled and playfully punched me.I'm about to say something when an intoxicating smell of lavender and rose filled my nostrils.“Well, we better get going if we want this party to come off” he announced getting up.He couldn't smell it.“Go ahead. I'll be right back” I said, yanking his coffee out of his hands.I followed the scent as it invaded my senses and the next thing I knew, a five foot six figure crushed hard into me. She stumbled back and I wrapped my arms around her waist, preventing her from falling. I waited for her to look up but she just kept staring at my shirt.“I'm so, so, so very sorry. I wasn't looking” Her sweet voice filled my ears, causing my wolf to purr in delight.I hadn't noticed her before and I had been going to this school even after I'd graduated four years ago.Damm, she was beautiful, and she definitely wasn't like any of the other girls I'd been with. She seemed different.“Mate, mate, mate!” Zade my inner wolf, began to chant. She's a werewolf? How come she's not a part of my pack?“No, I should be the one apologizing. It's my fault. I shouldn't have been more careful” I said. Then it hit me. Since when did I start apologizing? And much more when it wasn't my fault?I felt something warm drip down my chest and I realized she'd spilled the coffee all over my shirt and was now trying to get it off. I tried to tell her it would only get worse but she was so caught up in trying to make it better she didn't hear me.“Mate!” my wolf suddenly growled with force and I grabbed her arms, causing her to look at me.I examined her face. How hadn't I noticed such beauty in this school? Was she new? Did she just transfer here? She suddenly flinched, pulling away from me. I felt Zade whimper. He'd never done that.“What is it?” I asked the girl.“Sorry about your shirt but I have to go” she murmured and ran off.I just stared after her as Zade whimpered more. I growled silently to shut him up and turned to walk away when a wave of realization hit me.She was the girl in my dreams!(Cassie's POV)I closed the door behind me and leaned against it for a while. Today was the worst day. I pulled myself inside and slowly settled into the couch. “Is that you Cassandra?” I heard my grandmother ask.“Yes Abuela” I answered. “I have a lot of homework so I'll be in my room okay?” I added and locked the front door before heading upstairs. I locked my bedroom door and flung myself down on the bed. I eyed my sewing machine and sighed. I had to find a day to clean up my room. My closet wasn't big enough to fit all the new clothes I was making.I felt a pee sting and began to slip off my shoes when my phone began to ring. I answered it. “Unlock the door,” she said. “I'm not going, Isabel. That wasn't the deal.”She's quiet for a while. “Fine!”Then she hung up. I rolled my eyes and made my way to the bathroom to pee. Walking back out, I found her going through my clothes. “Black or yellow?” she asked, holding out two dresses. “How'd you get in?” I asked.“The window.
“Where on earth did you disappear to?” Isabel asked walking up to Cassandra. “Home” she replied. “I felt uncomfortable and threatened, so I had to leave.”“I'm sorry” Isabel apologized. “No. I should have never let you talk me into it in the first place” Cassie sighed. “How about I buy you lunch today? Just to say I'm sorry and I promise never to force you to do anything again.”Cassandra smiled at her friend. “Okay.”“Great, I'll just go get my purse. Don't move” Isabel said and scurried off. Cassandra paced up and down the school's parking lot, going through the mail.“Hey, you!” someone yelled from behind her.She jumped and turned to see the boy from the party making his way towards her. She tried to get away but he grabbed her just in time. “What do you want?” Cassandra asked, trying to get out of his grip. “The truth” he responded curtly. Cassandra looked away. “You were in my room the other night right?”“No” she lied. He tightened his grip around her wrist and she fr
(Cassie's POV) “Attention! Principal Fricks wants all senior years, gathered in the auditorium now!” Mr. Foyer announced through the speakerphone. We all exchanged glances. “What do you think it is?” I asked.“We won't know until we actually go in” Jay suggested. Helen shouldered me out of the way. “Hey watch it!” Forrest warned. She didn't bother to turn or stop. “Just ignore her,” I said. Jay chuckled. “She's just mad 'cause Isabel totally went all 'mom crazy' on her,” he said. “That was weeks ago,” Forrest said. Isabel nudged me and gestured for me to look. Helen had a tongue down a boy's throat. I made a face. “Who's that?” Forrest asked. “Blake. And he's a freshman” Isabel replied. I gave her a look. She looked back and shrugged. “I have a lot of free time,” she said. “And I can bet you my last dollar that she's going to gamble all his money away.”“Hey, let's get going,” Jay said and took the lead. We followed. The hall was half full when we entered. The principa
“Cassandra, please open the door” Isabel called out, gently knocking on the door. She stayed in bed, her thoughts being the only thing keeping her company for the five school days she'd been 'feeling sick'. Isabel bit her lip. “How about some fresh air huh? It'll just be the two of us at the park just like the old times.”Cassandra did want the old times back. Where she would have never met Jace or Montana. Where she wasn't forced to grow up and where her parents and brother were alive. But that was impossible now. “Cassandra Martinez! If you don't open this door right now, I swear to God that I am going to—”“Go away Isa” her best friend croaked out. “I told you I have the flu and it's contagious so I can't let you in; not through the door, not through the window.”Isabel sighed. “A flu? Shouldn't you see a doctor before you decide you have a flu?”Cassandra tossed in bed. “I'm just going to sleep it off, Isa.”“For how long?”Cassandra sighed. “Just please leave me alone for
(Cassie's POV) The constant beeping of the alarm woke me up. I groaned and turned, only to land on the floor. Now I was fully awake. I sat up and looked out the window. Our garden looked different. The birds were chirping. The roses, daffodils, sunflowers, all had butterflies frolicking around them. It could only mean one thing. Spring had come early. I grinned and stood up from the floor. I had to turn in my college admission essay soon and I wasn't sure if I wanted to leave home. I bit my lower lip and arranged my fabric rolls in the corner of the room. My phone pinged and I moved over to pick it up. Before I could process the text message, the door creaked open and two figures came barreling in. “Happy birthday!” they screamed. My eyes lit up. “Auntie!” I cried excitedly and run to hug her. She squeezed me. “Happy birthday my darling” she whispered, kissing my cheek. “Now make a wish, this thing is heavy” I heard Natán say. “Four years and you're still a jerk” I teased.
“Mom!” Cassandra exhaled, a rush of emotions going through her. Then she frowned. “Is this some kind of sick joke?” she yelled.Alba choked on her tears and moved over to wrap her daughter in a hug. Cassandra wasn't sure how she felt at that moment. Then she caught sight of her father and José. Alba stepped away from the hug and cupped her daughter's face in her hand. “Oh, you're even prettier than the pictures Milena sent.”Cassandra frowned at turned to her aunt. “Auntie? You knew?” Milena nodded. “But I swear miha, it was for your own—”Cassandra backed away. “Don't come close to me” she whispered. Her heart was racing. “Honey, we can explain,” Diego told her, reaching out to her. She moved even further. “Don't come close to me either.”Diego felt hurt. José looked at his sister. Her eyes had turned teary and the fright was visible on her face. “CJ look—”“Eight years. I mourned for you all for eight years”Alba sniffed. “We didn't mean for this to happen my darling I
(Cassie's POV) I heard the ringing again as I slowly opened my eyes. I felt the sweat all over my body and I waited for the pain to set in. I groaned.“I think I broke all two hundred and six of my bones” I murmured, my eyes closed. I couldn't pinpoint where exactly the pain was. Someone chuckled gently beside me and I turned my head. “It's normal. You're eighteen now and everything is falling into place.”The voice belonged to a beautiful young woman. She smiled at me. “Don't worry, I'm harmless” she assured. I eyed her. “Are you one of them too? A werewolf?” I asked. She looked up from the chart she was holding. “Only when I need to be” she answered. “But right now, I'm your doctor and I have your interest at heart.”I looked away. “So tell me, how do you feel?”“Terrible” I replied curtly. She pauses for a second before proceeding to ask the questions. “Can I go home now?” I asked. “I'm uncomfortable.”“Of course” she replied. “My name is Elise, and I'm the pack's doctor
(Cassie's POV) I raced down the stairs at the sound of his voice. “José!” I cried and jumped up to hug him. He faked a groan and twirled me around. “Well, you're a sight for sore eyes.”I chuckled. “It's only been a week,” I said. The girl from before was with him again. I waved at her and smiled. “Why don't you take a seat, I'll be right back,” José said and kissed my temple. I nodded. “One sec” he mouthed to the girl who just smiled at him. I eyed them both, not being able to hold back my smile. I felt a chill and I knew Jace was around here somewhere. He moved up to my side and looked carefully at me. “You okay?” he asked. I shrugged. “It could be worse” I replied. He gave me an amused look. Then the other door swung open revealing Montana. She was arguing with our parents but she paused and frowned when she saw me. “Ugh, what is she doing here?”“This is her home too Montana. And she's your sister.”“Oh enough with the drama Mom” she snapped and turned her attention
