Eight years later~Florida~ (Cassie's POV) I closed my locker to find Isabel standing there. “No,” I told her, knowing very well what she was about to propose. “Oh c'mon, Cassia. It's going to be fun!”I arched my eyebrow. “Don't call me that” I warned. “And I am not letting you borrow one of the dresses I made for some party.”“Please?” she begged giving me her puppy eyes. I really couldn't resist it. “Fine” I agreed. “Just this time.”“Yayy!” she exclaimed. “But you're buying me lunch” I announced and pulled her towards the cafeteria. “Aw!” she whined. We headed to the back table of the cafeteria where our friend group usually hung. Helen was the only one seated. “Hey!” we greeted and sat down. “Can I borrow forty bucks?” Elena asked, ignoring the greeting. I gave her a look. “Nevermind” she pouted, rolling her eyes. “Well, senior year isn't that exciting” Forrest sighed joining us. She made the cutest face when she was upset. “Well, I can't wait for it to end” Jay,

(Cassie's POV)I closed the door behind me and leaned against it for a while. Today was the worst day. I pulled myself inside and slowly settled into the couch. “Is that you Cassandra?” I heard my grandmother ask.“Yes Abuela” I answered. “I have a lot of homework so I'll be in my room okay?” I added and locked the front door before heading upstairs. I locked my bedroom door and flung myself down on the bed. I eyed my sewing machine and sighed. I had to find a day to clean up my room. My closet wasn't big enough to fit all the new clothes I was making.I felt a pee sting and began to slip off my shoes when my phone began to ring. I answered it. “Unlock the door,” she said. “I'm not going, Isabel. That wasn't the deal.”She's quiet for a while. “Fine!”Then she hung up. I rolled my eyes and made my way to the bathroom to pee. Walking back out, I found her going through my clothes. “Black or yellow?” she asked, holding out two dresses. “How'd you get in?” I asked.“The window.

(Cassie's POV) “Attention! Principal Fricks wants all senior years, gathered in the auditorium now!” Mr. Foyer announced through the speakerphone. We all exchanged glances. “What do you think it is?” I asked.“We won't know until we actually go in” Jay suggested. Helen shouldered me out of the way. “Hey watch it!” Forrest warned. She didn't bother to turn or stop. “Just ignore her,” I said. Jay chuckled. “She's just mad 'cause Isabel totally went all 'mom crazy' on her,” he said. “That was weeks ago,” Forrest said. Isabel nudged me and gestured for me to look. Helen had a tongue down a boy's throat. I made a face. “Who's that?” Forrest asked. “Blake. And he's a freshman” Isabel replied. I gave her a look. She looked back and shrugged. “I have a lot of free time,” she said. “And I can bet you my last dollar that she's going to gamble all his money away.”“Hey, let's get going,” Jay said and took the lead. We followed. The hall was half full when we entered. The principa

(Cassie's POV) The constant beeping of the alarm woke me up. I groaned and turned, only to land on the floor. Now I was fully awake. I sat up and looked out the window. Our garden looked different. The birds were chirping. The roses, daffodils, sunflowers, all had butterflies frolicking around them. It could only mean one thing. Spring had come early. I grinned and stood up from the floor. I had to turn in my college admission essay soon and I wasn't sure if I wanted to leave home. I bit my lower lip and arranged my fabric rolls in the corner of the room. My phone pinged and I moved over to pick it up. Before I could process the text message, the door creaked open and two figures came barreling in. “Happy birthday!” they screamed. My eyes lit up. “Auntie!” I cried excitedly and run to hug her. She squeezed me. “Happy birthday my darling” she whispered, kissing my cheek. “Now make a wish, this thing is heavy” I heard Natán say. “Four years and you're still a jerk” I teased.

(Cassie's POV) I heard the ringing again as I slowly opened my eyes. I felt the sweat all over my body and I waited for the pain to set in. I groaned.“I think I broke all two hundred and six of my bones” I murmured, my eyes closed. I couldn't pinpoint where exactly the pain was. Someone chuckled gently beside me and I turned my head. “It's normal. You're eighteen now and everything is falling into place.”The voice belonged to a beautiful young woman. She smiled at me. “Don't worry, I'm harmless” she assured. I eyed her. “Are you one of them too? A werewolf?” I asked. She looked up from the chart she was holding. “Only when I need to be” she answered. “But right now, I'm your doctor and I have your interest at heart.”I looked away. “So tell me, how do you feel?”“Terrible” I replied curtly. She pauses for a second before proceeding to ask the questions. “Can I go home now?” I asked. “I'm uncomfortable.”“Of course” she replied. “My name is Elise, and I'm the pack's doctor
