As I waited for a response, I felt a sense of anticipation building inside me. What would Moonridge Academy be like? Would I fit in? Would I be able to leave my past behind and start anew? The questions swirled in my mind, but I pushed them aside, focusing on the excitement and hope that had been sparked within me.

For the first time in a long time, I felt like I had a chance to take control of my life, to forge a new path and create a better future for myself. And I was ready to take it.

I walked downstairs, my heart pounding in my chest. I had made up my mind to accept the offer from Moonridge Academy, and I was determined to tell my family about it.

As I entered the kitchen, I was met with the usual cold atmosphere. My stepmother, Victoria, was busy making breakfast, her eyes fixed on the stove as if I wasn't even there. My father sat at the table, his eyes distant and ashamed. Brielle, on the other hand, was sipping her coffee, a smug smile plastered on her face.

"Good morning," I said, trying to break the ice. Victoria didn't even acknowledge my presence, while my father muttered a faint "good morning" without looking up. Brielle just rolled her eyes and continued sipping her coffee.

I took a deep breath and decided to get straight to the point.

"I have some news to share," I said, my voice firm. "I've been accepted into a new school, Moonridge Academy. I'm going to be transferring there."

Victoria's eyes flicked towards me, a mixture of surprise and annoyance on her face.

"What are you talking about?" she asked, her voice dripping with disdain. "You think you can just leave and go to some new school? After everything that's happened?"

"Yes, I can," I said, standing my ground. "And I will. I'm done with this place, and I'm done with all the drama and stress that's been suffocating me. Moonridge Academy is offering me a fresh start, and I'm taking it."

Brielle snorted, her smile growing wider.

"Good luck with that," she said, her voice laced with sarcasm. "You'll probably get kicked out of that school too."

My father's eyes finally met mine, a mixture of sadness and disappointment in them.

"Isla, are you sure this is what you want?" he asked, his voice soft.

"Yes, Dad, I'm positive," I said, trying to reassure him. "This is my chance to start over, to leave all the drama behind and focus on my future. I'm not going to waste it."

Victoria's face turned red with anger. "You're just going to run away, aren't you?" she spat. "You think you can just leave all your problems behind and start fresh? You're not even taking responsibility for your actions."

"I am taking responsibility," I said, my voice rising. "I'm taking responsibility for my life, and I'm choosing to move forward. You can't understand that, can you? You're too busy playing the victim and manipulating everyone around you."

Brielle's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure.

"You're just jealous," she said, her voice venomous. "You're jealous of me and my relationship with Adrian."

I laughed, a cold, hard laugh. "you're just being delusional. You have no idea what you're talking about, Brielle," I said. "I'm not jealous of you or your twisted relationship with Adrian. I'm just done with all the lies and the drama. And I'm leaving."

The kitchen fell silent, the tension between us palpable. Victoria's face was twisted in anger, while my father's eyes were filled with a mixture of sadness and resignation. Brielle's smile had faltered, and for a moment, I saw a glimmer of uncertainty in her eyes.

But I didn't care. I had made up my mind, and I was going to follow through with it. I was going to take control of my life, and I was going to make a new future for myself. No matter what.

My father's face twisted in a mix of emotions, his voice laced with a deep sadness.

"Fine, Isla. If this is what you want, then do it. But know this: once you leave this house, you'll be on your own. Don't come back here expecting open arms or a safety net. You're making a choice to leave, and you'll have to live with the consequences."

I felt a pang in my chest, hearing the pain in his voice. It was clear that he was hurt, and I knew that my decision was causing him distress. But I also knew that I had to do what was best for me.

"You're dishonoring me, Isla, I mean even if I said you shouldn't go, you will still do whatever you like." he said, his voice cracking with emotion. "You're choosing to walk away from our family and our values. I don't know what I did wrong, but I guess it's clear that I failed you somehow."

Brielle, on the other hand, was beaming with joy. She laughed, a cold, triumphant sound that sent a shiver down my spine.

"This is perfect," she said, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "You'll be out of our lives, and we can finally move on."

My father nodded, his eyes welling up with tears. "Yes, Isla. If you're going to leave, then leave for good. Don't look back. You're making a choice, and you'll have to live with it."

I felt a lump form in my throat as I looked at my father, seeing the pain and disappointment etched on his face. I knew that this was it, this was the end of our relationship as I knew it. I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what was to come.

"I understand," I said, my voice firm. "I'll leave, and I won't be back. But know this, Dad: I'm not doing this because I want to hurt you. I'm doing this because I have to. I have to take care of myself, and I have to move on with my life."

My father's face crumpled, and he looked away, unable to meet my gaze. Brielle, on the other hand, was still smiling, her eyes gleaming with triumph.

"Good riddance," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

I turned to leave, but my father's words stopped me in my tracks.

"Isla, wait," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "There's something I need to tell you... something that could change everything, something about your mother."

ISLAEya's eyes widened in surprise at my rejection, but she didn't seem to take it seriously. "Isla, don't be ridiculous," she said, her voice firm but patronizing. "You need to come with us. It's for your own safety."One of the beta male wolves standing beside Eya, a tall and muscular guy with a stern expression, stepped forward. He reached out to grab my hand, his eyes fixed on me with a possessive glint."Let's go, Isla," he said, his voice rough. But I wasn't having it. I pushed him away, my hands flat against his chest. "Don't touch me," I warned, my voice low and even. The beta wolf's face darkened, and he took a step closer to me. But Eya intervened, placing a hand on his arm. "Wait, Ryker," she said.
