Qin Muchu had the afternoon shift today.

As soon as she took her seat in the office, Lu Rongyan moved over to her and told her excitedly, “Muchu, the new head of our department has just assumed his position today!”

“Really?”

Qin Muchu raised an eyebrow slightly but otherwise seemed uninterested.

While she moved to take out the files from her bag, her friend continued, “He is really, really handsome!”

Their colleague Wang Yi joined in as well, enthusiastically interrupting and added to the conversation. “His voice is so pleasant you probably can’t keep your legs closed! I heard his skills are exceptional! He’s even known as a legend in America’s neurosurgery department!”

Qin Muchu was stupefied but found it amusing. “You guys are exaggerating.”

“We’re not exaggerating!” Lu Rongyan wasted no time in defending the new director. “He is not only handsome, but his voice is also to die for! You’ve just never met him. Once you do, you’ll surely be prostrating before that piece of fine art! It’s like he’s too handsome to even have friends!”

“It’s true! It’s true!” Wang Yi echoed.

Qin Muchu was speechless.

“I heard he even has an established background! Almost four out of five of the financial service corporations in Town A belongs to him, and he even has five private hospitals in that town!” Wang Yi was known to be a busybody. None of the gossips could escape her ears!

“No way!” Lu Rongyan opened her mouth wide, looking shocked, but obviously skeptical. “He has so many private hospitals but has chosen to come here to be a small department director? Are you sure your information is legit?”

Even Qin Muchu was suspicious.

“Of course it’s legit! He is to be the president’s son-in-law, Cheng Xuanying’s fiance! Now you know why he has come here despite his marvelous background!”

“So it’s for Dr. Cheng! Though with assets like his, he should be able to obtain a higher-level position here. Why did he choose to be our department’s head?”

“Who knows? But I’m really envious of Cheng Xuanying. Tell me, just how many good deeds does one have to do in the past life to get such a handsome and rich husband?” Wang Yi wondered out loud in a dreamy voice.

“Alright, alright! Stop dreaming about other people’s fiance. If Chief Liu comes in and sees us, interns, not working but fawning over guys, he will skin us alive!” Qin Muchu reminded the two.

Lu Rongyan was suddenly serious. “Muchu, we can’t not think about this! Dr. Liu had just said that the new director will be picking an intern student out of us four to be his intern assistant. Dr. Liu hinted that for whoever is chosen will surely get a promotion in this hospital, it will be like getting a Golden Ticket!”

“However, no matter how you see it, we don’t stand a chance at something this good to begin with!” Wang Yi said as she deliberately moved her eyes to look at their intern colleague, Ye Linfeng, seated across them, before continuing with a hint of contempt, “Some people just have better connections than others!”

Ye Linfeng was Cheng Xuanying’s cousin, the president’s niece. She looked quite charming and was highly educated, but she was also a spoiled princess. She was proud, arrogant, and even unsatisfied with being under Dr. Liu’s supervision, thinking that she deserved a more accomplished mentor.
