Chapter 7

By the time Qin Muchu got home, it was already a little past ten in the morning.

“Young Mistress, why have you only just come home? Were you up all night again for work?”

Qin Muchu had just reached the mansion’s gates and already Aunt Li was ceremoniously welcoming her home.

She felt a little guilty from her questioning so she answered with a white lie, “There was a case of multiple cars accident in the emergency ward last night. I couldn’t spare any time away or even answer the phone.”

“Oh dear, you doctors sure are busy!”

There was a weird limping to Qin Muchu’s steps so Aunt Li went over immediately to support her. “Is your leg alright? Why are you walking funny?”

“Huh?” Qin Muchu’s cheeks flushed red at the query and quickly answered, “N-nothing… Just a little tired from standing too much! I’ll be fine after a bit of rest.”

Qin Muchu actually felt quite guilty toward her husband.

Was this considered infidelity?

“Oh yes! Young Mistress, the young master called home this morning!” The housekeeper announced.

The young master, that was her newlywed husband!

“Ah?” Qin Muchu managed in surprise. The guilt increased.

This so-called husband of hers was a complete stranger to her.

She knew nothing of his name and age.

She even had no idea what he looked like and how tall he was.

To sum it all up, anything about this mysterious husband of hers whom she had never met, she had not a single clue!

If she were to describe this marriage of hers in one word, it would be ‘ridiculous’!

Even when they were carrying out the marriage procedures, that man had sent an assistant in his place instead.

As for the marriage certificate, she never had the chance to hold it.

The first agreement between them for this marriage was, to keep it hidden.

“He… Did he say anything?” Qin Muchu asked.

“The young master said he has returned to the country!”

“What?” She panicked.

“Yes! This is such good news, Young Mistress! You finally won’t have to manage this huge mansion on your own anymore. With the young master back, he can keep you company and you won’t feel so lonely anymore!”

Aunt Li was so happy for her!

But Qin Muchu could not feel the same.

“Didn’t you say that the young master did not plan on returning for a few years?”

“Hmm… Maybe the young master misses you too much!”

“...”

Missed her? Then he must have seen a ghost! They had never met each other before so what was there to miss?

“Aunt Li, have you ever seen the young master?” Unable to contain her curiosity, Qin Muchu asked.

“Of course! I was the one taking care of the young master when he was overseas.”

“Then, what is his personality like? Is he an agreeable person?”

“Personality…”

Aunt Li pondered for quite a bit at the question before answering carefully, “I think the young master is someone who is cold on the outside, but warm on the inside.”

“Then that means he’s not an agreeable person!” For a moment, Qin Muchu felt like she had nothing to live for.

“Young Mistress, it’s too early to say that. You were chosen by the young master himself, he will definitely treat you right.”

“Aunt Li, what kind of holy being is your young master? And why is he so adamant about marrying me? After marrying me, he just leaves me here. Just what is he trying to do?”

All these questions had been nagging at the back of her mind for a good six months, but no matter how hard she racked her brains, there was just no answer.

Half a year ago, she had agreed to marry him to pay for her late mother’s burial. But what about him? His fortune could buy him a country, so what could such an accomplished man want from her?

Qin Muchu had already evaluated herself, from top to toe, other than being slightly attractive, there was really nothing she could offer. Was her beauty really worth the burial lot that cost almost a billion dollars?

Of course not! Not to mention, she even had a kid before! But then again, her husband might not have a clear picture of her situation.

“Young Mistress, since the young master is coming back, why don’t you personally ask him these questions?”

“Alright then.” Qin Muchu decided not to make things difficult for Aunt Li.

Just the thought of the man returning stressed her out.

If it was possible, she hoped that this mysterious husband of hers would never, ever return!
