Sophia’s POV

MORANO'S MANSION – DINING TABLE

“Logan, are you okay?” I asked softly, my eyes on him as he kept shifting his fork through the eggs and bread like he was dissecting them instead of eating. He hadn’t taken more than two bites since we all sat down.

“I’m okay,” he replied quickly, forcing a weak smile that didn’t even reach his eyes.

That lie couldn’t fool me. I knew Logan well enough to sense when something was bothering him. And this — this mood, this energy — it reeked of conflict. And if I had to guess, it had something to do with Massimo.

Leonard, who had just taken a bite from his toast, reached over with his fork and dropped an extra piece of bread onto my plate.

“Eat more so that you’ll focus in school,” he said warmly, flashing me that gentle smile that only I seemed to get from him.

“Thank you,” I replied, my lips curling into a grateful smile.

I reached for my tea as the quiet clinking of cutlery filled the room. But every few seconds, I could feel Leonard’s eyes

MORANO'S MANSION - LOGAN'S ROOMMassimo entered the softly lit room with quiet steps, carrying a tray with a bowl of hot soup. The air smelled faintly of chamomile and antiseptic. Logan lay motionless on the bed, his body bruised, bandaged, and pale, but his eyes followed Massimo with a mixture of curiosity and quiet longing.Without saying a word, Massimo placed the tray on the bedside table. He reached down carefully, slipping an arm behind Logan's back and lifting him gently. He placed a pillow behind him for support, making sure Logan leaned comfortably against it. The way he handled Logan was meticulous, as if any wrong touch might break him further.“Time to eat,” Massimo said softly as he sat beside the bed, picking up the bowl of soup. Steam curled up in gentle wisps, and he began blowing on a spoonful to cool it down.He brought the spoon to Logan’s lips. “Ah,” he signaled, waiting. But Logan didn’t open his mouth. He just stared at Massimo—weakly, but intensely.“If you keep

Party Hall – Gavin’s 60th Birthday “Excuse me,” Leonard said as he rose from the table, giving Sophia a brief glance that spoke more than words could. Calm and deliberate, he moved through the crowd, heading straight for Victoria. She stood near the edge of the room, a glass of champagne in one hand, her red dress clinging to her like flame to wick. Her lips curved the moment she saw him approach. “Do you also bring business to party grounds?” Leonard asked without ceremony. “We are done talking business.” He lifted his glass and took a sip, his eyes never straying far from Sophia—watchful, almost protective. “You’re a hard man to find in a room full of suits, Leonard Morano,” Victoria said with a smirk, her gaze trailing over him like a challenge. “Thought I’d have to bribe the bartender to track you down.” “You found me. Congratulations. Hope it was worth the trouble.” His voice was smooth but flat, unamused. “It just might be. You look… exquisite tonight. Power looks good on

Party Hall — Gavin Slade’s 60th Birthday"I know you are angry with me but can you please smile?" Leonard said to Sophia with a teasing glint in his eyes as they walked into the vibrant hall, arms linked. The opulence of the space was unmistakable — crystal chandeliers cast a golden hue over the crowd, and waiters in black tuxedos floated by with silver trays of cocktails and hors d'oeuvres."You know what you did," Sophia muttered, eyes avoiding his. Her voice was calm, but her words held weight.Leonard sighed, stealing a glance at the extravagant birthday cake in the center of the room — a towering white and gold masterpiece with bold red letters that read “Gavin @ 60.”Before he could speak again, a familiar voice cut through the room."Boss!" Mateo Reyes strode toward them with a grin. "Good to see you."Leonard extended a hand. "Good to see you too, Mateo.""Let’s go over there — our men are gathered," Mateo said, gesturing toward a corner of the room where several men in tailor

Sophia's POVMORANO'S MANSION - Logan's Room"You’ve been standing there like a statue for an hour, Luca. Sit down. He won’t bite," I said softly to Massimo, who had been lingering at the door like a ghost refusing to enter the world of the living.Logan still lay on the bed, unconscious. Bruised, bandaged, a pale shadow of the bright soul we all loved. His chest rose and fell, aided by shallow breaths. The IV line dripped rhythmically. The faint beeping of the monitor was the only sound in the room.Massimo hesitated but eventually walked in. Each step he took felt like it cost him something. He sat at the edge of the bed with stiff restraint."I wasn’t sure if I should," he said, voice low."Why not? You’re one of the few people he trusted. He always said you made him feel safe—even more than my husband," I said gently, watching him.Massimo's jaw tightened. "He shouldn’t have said that. It puts us both in danger.""You loved him, didn’t you?" I asked, watching his face. The conflic

King's Bar - VIP Lounge "It must have been a tough one?" Jude said as he sat opposite Leonard in the VIP Lounge, holding a glass of red wine. The bar pulsed with life outside the private lounge — laughter, bass-heavy music, and the clinking of glasses filled the space with vibrant energy. Neon lights flickered across the crystal decanters lining the shelf, casting soft glows that danced off the polished marble floor. Through the sheer curtains, silhouettes of dancers and waiters moved like shadows in a theatre of excess. The VIP lounge, however, remained a different world — quieter, colder, with black leather seats and a humidor in the corner. "It was," Leonard replied, his tone calm as he swirled the drink in his glass. "But it came with ease. His son handled him." "How is Logan feeling now?" Jude asked, his voice more serious now as he leaned in. "The doctor said he is out of danger." Leonard took a sip from his glass, gaze distant. "Did you get the invitation?" Jude asked, shi

MORANO’S MANSION – Logan’s Room “How bad?” he asked. His voice wasn’t loud, but it cut clean through the silence — a quiet demand wrapped in a storm of control. The room smelled faintly of antiseptic and clean linens, humming softly with the quiet rhythm of medical monitors. White gauze wrapped around Logan’s midsection, streaked lightly with dried blood. The pale green glow from a small lamp cast long shadows over his unconscious body, rising and falling in shallow breaths. Leonard stood near the foot of the bed, his hands clenched at his sides, the darkness under his eyes deep and telling. Dr. Asher Ryder didn’t look at him. He pressed the end of his stethoscope against Logan’s chest, listening to the weak rhythm of the boy’s heartbeat. The doctor’s movements were meticulous, clinical, and without urgency — the kind born from years of navigating between bullets and blood in the shadows of crime families. “Worse than I expected,” he finally said. “Cracked ribs. A deep knife woun
