Elara didn’t think twice, she followed his instruction immediately. His tone had been too serious, too commanding to question. Still, she shot him a sharp glare as he turned her around to face him.

She swallowed, steadying herself, refusing to let him see the fear creeping into her chest. The thought of sex alone sent chills through her body, a quiet panic she couldn’t explain.

She didn’t even let Henry touch her, just kisses, maybe he got tired because he complains a lot about it. But she pleads with him to wait till their wedding night.

Fortunately for her, she's still intact because Henry didn't later marry her.

Her lips trembled slightly despite her effort to stay composed. She swallowed again, her eyes locking with his. They stood so close, their faces inches apart, the tension between them thick and suffocating.

Alex’s gaze dropped slowly to her lips. His own parted without him realizing it. A memory flashed back to him, the altar, the kiss they shared, the way he had completely lost control the moment their lips touched, how he was fucking hard.

Before he could stop himself, his hand lifted.

His fingers brushed against her lips.

Elara froze.

“What are you doing?” she asked, her voice low but strained. Her eyes flickered to his hand resting on her cheek before rising back to his face.

She licked her lips, feeling somehow.

Alex snapped back to reality, blinking as if he had just woken up. He shook his head and turned her around before pulling her closer instead, his arm wrapping firmly around her waist.

Elara immediately tried to push his hand away, discomfort flashing across her face.

But he ignored her and turned to the maids, his expression calm, controlled.

“Meet my wife, Elara Harrington,” he said.

His gaze shifted back to her.

“It’s Elara!” she snapped, but he cut her off.

“Elara Harrington,” he repeated, his voice sharper now. “Do not forget to give her the respect she deserves. Is that clear?”

“Yes, boss,” they answered in unison.

Only then did he remove his hand from her waist.

Elara swallowed hard, shooting him one last glare before turning and walking away without another word.

Alex stood there, watching her until she disappeared from sight.

Who is she? How does she affect him like this without even trying?

The moment Elara stepped into her room, she exhaled deeply, as if she had been holding her breath the entire time.

“Foolish man,” she scoffed under her breath, her voice trembling with frustration. “It’s not your fault I’m married to you, it’s Henry’s fault.”

Her eyes burned as tears gathered.

If only she had listened to her mother. Maybe she wouldn’t be here right now, she wouldn't be married to a rich, arrogant man like Alex.

The tears fell the moment she sat on the bed. She wiped them away quickly, almost angrily, as though refusing to let herself break.

Her gaze shifted to the side.

She stared at her phone. She hasn’t called her mother yet.

Her chest tightened at the thought. She didn’t have the courage to call her. Even if she did call her, the probability that she'd answer her call is Zero.

Just then, her phone rang.

She stared at the screen as it lit up, her heart skipping slightly.

Clara.

Elara quickly wiped her face and forced a smile before answering, masking everything.

“Sister, how are you?” Clara’s voice came through the phone, bright and concerned.

“I’m fine...how’s mother?” Elara replied.

“She hasn’t eaten anything since morning,” Clara cut in sharply. “She said she won’t eat until you leave Henry and come back home.”

Elara smiled faintly, even as tears slipped from the corners of her eyes. She wiped them quickly, as if her sister could somehow see her.

“I didn’t marry Henry today,” she said softly. “We broke up.”

“Are you serious?!” Clara shouted, excitement bursting through the phone.

“Yes,” Elara replied. “Tell mother, tell her I didn’t marry Henry.”

“I’m so happy for you!” Clara said, relief clear in her voice.

In the background, “My dear, you listened to me? Where are you? Are you coming home already?” Her mother said.

Elara closed her eyes, her fingers tightening around the phone.

“Mother” she said, her voice steady but quiet. “I married another man.”

“What?!” both voices exclaimed at once.

Elara let out a slow breath.

“Mother, I’m married to Alexander Harrington.”

“Harrington what?” her mother’s voice came again, sharp with disbelief.

Elara swallowed.

“Mother, he’s rich, exactly the kind of man you’ve always wanted for me. He’s powerful,” she said, her voice soft but deliberate. “He's not like Henry, struggling to grow his business. And trust me, he's very popular even though I don't even know him...”

Elara has never heard about Alexander Harrington, she's not to be blamed, she's not a social person.

“That family is dangerous,” her mother said finally, her voice trembling now. “Come back home, please. I want you to marry a man who will give you peace, you're still young, you need a man whose family will give you peace. Elara...you're just twenty eight and you need to live a peaceful life...”

Elara bashed her lashes, her heart racing with fear. Why is her mother saying all this?

Her mother's voice broke slightly.“I’m sorry but the Harrington family will never let you have that.”

Alexander’s phone vibrated again inside his pocket. He glanced around the crowded reception hall, his eyes scanning every corner, but there was still no sign of Elara. Music echoed through the hall, guests laughed, glasses clinked together, but none of it settled the uneasy feeling crawling under his skin. “Where the hell did she go?” he muttered under his breath. Julian walked up beside him and tapped his shoulder lightly. “Alex.” he called. Alexander turned sharply. “Have you seen Elara?” Julian shook his head. “No. Grandma asked me to call both of you upstairs for the family toast.” Alexander exhaled impatiently and pulled out his phone when it rang again. Unknown number. Without saying another word, he walked out of the hall and into the quieter hallway upstairs. The moment he stepped into the empty corridor, he stopped. Vanessa stood there waiting for him. Two bodyguards lingered a few steps behind her while she leaned casually against the wall, a slow smil

The music continued flowing softly through the hall as Alexander held Elara close against him on the dance floor. The atmosphere around them had changed completely. The guests were no longer whispering out of curiosity alone. Now they were staring because of the undeniable chemistry between them. Even Genevieve noticed it. She sat elegantly at her table, watching the way Alexander’s hand remained firmly around Elara’s waist like he couldn’t bear letting her go. Alexander is known to be so cold around women and he's doing this with a woman. Julian leaned closer beside her. “I’ve never seen Alex look at someone like that before.” Genevieve remained quiet for a moment. "Me too." Tiana smirked, she didn’t even know Alexander would love his new wife this much. Desmond smirked, he sip from his wine, his eyes on Elara’s backside all along, anticipating to have his way with her. At the center of the hall, Alexander slowly spun Elara gently beneath the golden lights before pul

The entire hall erupted into applause the moment Alexander and Elara stepped fully inside. The gigantic crystal chandelier above reflected against the marble floor beautifully while the soft melody of A Thousand Years continued playing in the background. Elara suddenly felt overwhelmed. Too many eyes. Too many whispers. Too many powerful people staring at her like she was something to study. Her fingers tightened slightly around Alexander’s hand unconsciously. Alexander noticed immediately. Without looking at her, he slowly intertwined their fingers together firmly. A silent reassurance. “I’m here.” The action alone calmed her racing heart a little. The MC smiled brightly from the center stage. “Ladies and gentlemen,” he announced dramatically. “Please welcome Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Harrington officially!” The applause grew louder. Some guests even stood up. Cameras flashed nonstop. Elara blinked rapidly from the brightness. Alexander leaned slightly toward her. “Smi

After getting dressed, Elara slowly stepped out of the dressing room, smoothing her palm over the pink off-shoulder gown hugging her body perfectly. The dress clung to her curves like it had been made specially for her, emphasizing every dangerous line of her figure-eight shape. The soft fabric rested against her skin elegantly, exposing the smoothness of her shoulders and collarbone. Her silver stiletto heels clicked lightly against the marble floor as she walked forward. The sound alone made Alexander lift his head. The moment his eyes landed on her, his lips parted slightly. The cold expression on his face softened almost immediately as his dark gaze slowly travelled down her body before returning to her face. He had been sitting outside the dressing room the entire time, waiting for her to finish dressing so he could also change, but now, staring at her, he suddenly forgot every single thing around him. The mall noise faded. The workers moving around faded. Even

Linda reached her daughter before Clara could even turn fully. The air between them thickened instantly, something unspoken but deeply understood passing in that single glance they shared. Clara’s fingers tightened around the paper, but she was too late. Linda snatched it from her with trembling hands, the crumpled edges crackling loudly in the tense silence. For a brief second, Linda just stared at it hoping the words would rearrange themselves into something less cruel. They didn’t. Her lips parted, breath catching, and then she read it aloud, her voice barely holding together. “Tell your daughter to stay away from Alexander Harrington.” The words fell heavy, like a verdict already passed. A tear slipped down Linda’s cheek before she could stop it. She inhaled sharply, rubbing her lips together as though trying to force herself back into control, but the fear had already seeped too deep. Her fingers shook, clutching the paper like it might burn her if she held it any lon

Elara didn’t pull away. Instead, something shifted in her expression. A slow smile curved her lips as her hand lifted, wrapping lightly around the back of his neck. He was taller than her, his presence naturally dominating, but she tilted her chin just enough to keep their eyes locked, refusing to look away. His hand was still firm on her waist. The air between them tightened. “Why don’t we just strip in front of each other then?” she said softly, her voice laced with challenge more than innocence. Alex’s lips curled into a smirk. “That’s funny,” he replied, his voice low, edged with something dangerous. “We’ve not even stripped, and this is already happening.” Before she could react, he caught her wrist and guided it down to touch his zipper and feel him. Elara froze for a split second. Then her breath hitched. She knew exactly what he was doing. And instead of pulling back she played along. Her fingers moved slightly, brushing against him through the fabric

Her eyes widened, shock crashing through her like a sudden wave. “Alex.” The name slipped out of Elara’s lips before she could stop herself. What the hell is he doing here? She thought. For a split second, time seemed to freeze between them. Then, just as quickly, Alex released her. Her b

It was as though Clara wasn’t even present in the room anymore. Her mother’s voice continued, firm and filled with concern, but Clara’s mind had already wandered far away, far beyond the small walls of their modest apartment, far beyond the weight of reality pressing down on them. All she could

“Answer me.”Alex’s grandmother’s voice cut through the room like a blade. It wasn’t a question, it was a command wrapped in authority, sharpened by years of control and expectation. She demanded obedience, not hesitation. But Alex sat there, his mind was nowhere near the room. How was he even s

Elara smiled. Right now, she wasn’t thinking about the consequences. She wasn’t thinking about Alex, or his cold gaze, or the strange intensity behind his words. She was thinking about one thing. A hundred million dollars. The number echoed in her mind like a drumbeat. It wasn’t just money—i
