Bernard glanced at his watch; it was dinner time, and he was right on time. At the restaurant, Alden was already waiting at the VIP table, which was set apart in an all-glass room. It wasn't unusual for Alden to suddenly call for a meeting, but it was typically held at his house.

"Mr. Harrison," Bernard greeted.

Alden nodded. "Sit down, Mr. Gulfman. I think you'll find the menu here to your liking."

"Well, whatever it is, I'm fine with it."

Bernard was slightly puzzled as to why Alden wanted to meet so suddenly. They had already talked earlier that morning. It had been agreed that the rumors circulating didn't need clarification. In fact, Texco's stock, which was suspected to drop, had actually risen a few points.

Isn't bad gossip also a form of benefit? It depends on the perspective.

"It's unusual for you to ask to meet outside," Bernard said.

"Because I don't want our conversation to be overheard by Hannah."

Hannah blinked. The middle-aged woman was very rude, not to mention her messy, graying, wavy hair. What was her problem this morning that made her snap at people like that?"Are you just going to stand there and not say anything? Tell me what you need," the woman demanded. But Hannah remained calm. She just nodded politely."I'm Hannah Harrison.""Hannah?" The woman was stunned for a moment. Then her eyes widened. "Oh, sorry. I'm just a little hectic this morning. Have a seat, Hannah."Carefully, Hannah entered the extremely cluttered office. There were piles of files everywhere, and she wondered how anyone could possibly organize it all."I'm Joan," the woman said as she sat down. She looked stressed as she stared at the computer screen."Nice to meet you, Mrs. Joan.""I hope you can handle the chaos around here. I'm retiring next month, and I have a lot of work to finish."So Hannah would replace Joan."I'm too

  • Marrying the Chairman in the Wheelchair   86. A New Beginning in Sunnydale

Hannah got off the train and took in the relatively quiet station. She arrived in Sunnydale just before midnight. She felt exhausted, cold and of course sleepy. As soon as Hannah stepped off the platform, she saw someone standing there holding a piece of paper with her name, 'Hannah', written on it.Hannah smiled as she spotted the man with light brown curly hair and quickly approached him."Hi, you must be Don," Hannah greeted him.Don smiled broadly and held out his hand. "Susan's favorite cousin, yes, that's me; Don."It turned out that Don was a very friendly man; he immediately took the small suitcase out of Hannah's hand and led the way out."Is this all you brought?" Don asked in surprise."I don't have much.""Well, okay."Don already knew the main parts of Hannah's story from Susan and felt very sorry for her. Especially after meeting Hannah in person, Don felt even more sorry for her. It was heartbreaking to hear how

"Hannah is sick, Mom. But we don't know what is wrong with her yet," Jeffrey said.Aspen scoffed. "Oh, she's probably just trying to get your sympathy.""She showed me the results. And you didn't see how devastated Hannah was by the condition!" Jeffrey's voice rose again.Francesca looked shocked. She hadn't expected something so terrible to happen to Hannah, and her guilt grew even stronger."Where is Hannah? I want to see her," Francesca said, shifting the focus away from Jeffrey and Aspen."She's gone, Mom. Because of Aspen's actions, Hannah was falsely accused, and Mr. Alden was furious," Jeffrey explained.Francesca's eyes went cold as she stared at Aspen. "Why would you do that, Aspen? Hannah's done so much for us."Aspen remained silent, unwilling to say a word. Her face flushed with anger, and Jeffrey's patience wore thin."Tell me, who gave you these photos?" Jeffrey demanded."And what if I refuse?""The

"Are you sure?"Susan's question made Hannah hesitate, but it was time to go. The loudspeaker announced the train's arrival, which was Hannah's destination."Hannah, are you sure?" Susan took both of Hannah's hands. "It's not too late to explain. I'm sure your husband will regret accusing you.""Alden's words hurt me too much, Susan.""He was angry, Hannah." Susan's face looked half-panicked as she tried to convince Hannah to stay. "Please, you're both emotional right now. If you think clearly, There must be a way out of this."Hannah shook her head. "No, I have to go, Susan. Besides, what's the point of me staying for Alden?""Please don't say that."Susan hugged Hannah, and they began to cry. Hannah hugged Susan tightly, knowing she would greatly miss her secretary and best friend."I have to go now, Susan.""Take care, and don't forget to call me as soon as you arrive," Susan said. "I've already called Don, and he'll

"Jeffrey?" Hannah gasped in disbelief."Don't you dare pretend you've never messed around with him!""What are you talking about?"Alden let out a bitter laugh as he heard Hannah trying to deny it. But his mind was already clouded with rage, consumed by jealousy because of his deep love for her. Alden had lost his common sense, entirely swayed by Aspen's words from that morning."You're still not going to admit your relationship with Jeffrey?" Alden hissed."Alden, can we please talk this out calmly?" Hannah began to feel Alden's grip tightening. "It hurts.""I want to know what he did that you can't seem to let go of him!"Alden suddenly climbed on top of Hannah, pinning her legs down. With rough force, he pressed his lips against hers, leaving Hannah struggling to breathe. When she was nearly out of breath, Alden finally broke the kiss."Please, listen to me!" Hannah begged, tears streaming down her face.Alden yanked

The following day, Aspen entered the Goldtime building and approached the receptionist. Aspen was eager to meet Alden; she hadn’t been able to sleep all night. She had even argued with Jeffrey, but Aspen didn’t want to reveal the reason.Because Aspen had promised Sarah, this affair needed to be resolved solely with Alden. It was up to Alden to decide Hannah’s fate. Sarah was confident that Alden would kick Hannah out of the Harrison family residence.“Do you have an appointment, ma’am?” the receptionist asked after Aspen stated she wanted to see Alden.Holding back her frustration, Aspen gritted her teeth. “Tell Mr. Alden that his sister-in-law wants to meet him immediately.”“Of course, ma’am.” The receptionist quickly nodded. The receptionist returned shortly and escorted Aspen to Alden’s office. With her heart pounding faster, Aspen tried to keep her emotions in check. Thou
