In Heat
I return to Jasmine and Nathan, aware of Evelyn who is probably smiling at them behind me.
It's almost like my senses begin to come back and I realize what I have done. I just made a stupid deal that could cost me my life and freedom. I can't believe that I can be this gullible.
As I take a sip out of my champagne, I recall the last conversation I had with Evelyn.
"To make things fair, I'll find a way for you all to spend the night here and both of you can have a room to yourself."
I have no idea why she is helping me and I am certainly freaking out a little. I just made a deal with a goddess, a deal that involves giving up my freedom if I lose? It's crazy but I think that she cast a spell on me or something.
"Hey, are you alright. You look pale." Jasmine comes to my side and I smile at her when I see her worried glance.
"I'm just tired of waiting for the cake." I laugh nervously and point to the pink cake on the table far in the corner.
