LUCIAN

It's been four days since I dropped the bombshell, and Leah still won't look me in the eye. It's like we've become strangers, and it's killing me. Fenrir has also locked me out, blaming me for the way things turned out.

Theron arrives just before noon of the fifth day, his boots thudding against the marble floor of the council’s reception hall. He looks exactly the same as when I last saw him, tall, broad, sharp-eyed.

Leah stands beside me, her hands clasped in front of her. She’s dressed neatly, hair pinned back, but the warmth she offers Theron doesn’t extend to me.

“Theron,” she says with a small, genuine smile. “It’s good to see you again.”

He smiles back and hugs her briefly. “Likewise, Luna.” His eyes flick between us, reading the air faster than I’d like. I keep my face blank, the way I do in negotiations where every word could be twisted.

We lead him to the suite we’ve been given on the upper floor. Leah walks slightly ahead of me, making polite conversation with Thero

  • Mated To The Scarred Alpha   Chapter 58

LEAHI’m in a forest, but I’m not just standing there, the trees, the wind, the river… they all feel like they belong to me. The forest itself feels like it's breathing. My bare feet sink into damp mud, the air is thick with the scent of green leaves and rain, though no clouds hang above me. I lift my hand and the air surprisingly swirls, warm and slow, brushing against my hair gently. It feels like I'm the one controlling it. A soundless vibration rises in my chest, making the ground tremble, roots coiling upward, and weaving around my ankles. I turn my palm, and a stream of water arches from nowhere, coiling through my fingers. It feels just right. What the hell?Suddenly I feel something deeper moving inside me. My bones bend, and break, an excruciating pain surging through my whole body. My skin burns as ut ripples and shreds into pieces. Suddenly, I'm on fours. My senses are heightened beyond reasoning, and I see clearer than I ever have. My eyes catche a strange glint on my bod

LEAHThe first thing I notice as I stir awake is the steam curling out of the bathroom door. Then I hear Lucian’s voice humming low. I lean on the frame, arms crossed. He doesn’t notice me until he turns, water streaming down his chest, hair plastered to his face. My eyes, unfortunately, decide they have zero self-control.“What happened?” I ask. The question hits him like a stone in the chest. He freezes mid-reach for the towel, his mouth parting before he shuts it again.“Nothing,” he says. I push away from the door, taking one step inside. “Don’t do that.”“Do what?” he says, his tone careful. He’s completely bare as he stands, water dripping onto the tile, and somehow the only thing that’s tense is the air between us.“Don’t lie to me… again.” I say, my voice sounding tired. Even I feel tired. I'm tired of not talking, tired of feeling the gap between us widen like a canyon I’m scared to look down into.He grabs the towel, wrapping it around his waist loosely. “Leah…”“Lucian, I

LUCIANI follow her into the room, but the silence between us is heavy enough to pin me to my chair without warning. She sits on the far side of the room, curled up on the couch with the book which I'm certain she hasn’t turned a page in for the last hour. The soft golden light spilling from the lamp makes her skin glow, but her eyes are fixed anywhere but on me.I try taking to her again, “You haven’t eaten.”“I’m fine,” she replies. Her voice is polite, and clipped. The kind of politeness that feels like you slammed a door on your toes.“Leah…”“I’m tired, Lucian.” She doesn’t even look at me when she says it.I lean back in my chair, running a hand over my jaw. There’s an ache in my chest that I can't seem to get rid of. An alarm bell goes off in my head, warning me that if I push again, I’ll only make it worse. But then, letting the silence consume me feels worse.I’m about to risk it anyway when there’s a knock at the door, the sound cutting through the room like a blade. Leah ri

  • Mated To The Scarred Alpha   Chapter 54

LUCIAN“Leah,” I call out softly as I step back into the room, looking between her and her mother, Queen Reyna. She turns away from me almost immediately, her eyes heavy with tears. And in that moment I knew, I broke her.“I didn't tell you to come back yet.” Queen Reyna snaps. “Please, I need to be here,” I reply, my eyes trained of Leah.Fuck! I broke the one person that matters to me. The council can't be blamed for not wanting me back, everything I touch, I destroy. I broke my mate, and she can't bear to look at me anymore. It's like I am the thing she needs to run from. She looks back at me and I open my mouth to call her again, but before I do, she runs for the door. “I need some air,” she says, her voice cracking. At first, I'm unable to move, my chest caving in, and my feet refusing to move. But then she walks towards the door, pain and hurt filling her every stride, I run to her and grab her hand. “Leah, please” I breathe, broken.“No!” She yells. “Leave me alone!” Her secon

LEAH“Alpha Lucian.” Queen Reyna’s voice is soft, but steel glints underneath. “Leave us.”He laughs under his breath, not the funny kind. The I’m-going-to-burn-this-place-down kind. “Not happening,” he snaps. After keeping a secret as huge as this from me, he’s still acting like he cares. He must think I still believe his facade, bullshit.“I wasn’t asking.” Queen Reyna snaps back.“Too bad.” His jaw ticks like he’s holding back his lycan right there. And they’re just… staring at each other now. Throwing invisible daggers over my head like I’m not standing right here trying to remember how to breathe.“No.” My voice comes out small at first, then stronger. “She’s right.” Lucian’s head snaps to me, those gold eyes lock on like I just stabbed him. “Leah…”“I don’t want to see you right now.” My throat feels like glass, but I don’t take it back. “So just… go.”For a second, he doesn’t move. Just stands there breathing like he’s swallowing fire. Then his throat works, and he gives a tigh
