39: Gem Among Ordinary Stones

ASHER’S POV

With my head angled to the side, I continued to watch Lisa. Her chest rose and fell in a rhythmic pattern. A soft sigh escaped her lips. She stirred slightly, her eyelashes fluttered against her cheeks, but she didn’t wake. Instead, her lips moved, forming incoherent words that were swallowed by the silence of the room.

A soft chuckle rumbled in my chest at the familiar sight. This was a habit that reminded me so much of Kiara, who also had a tendency to talk in her sleep. It was one of the things I found endearing about her, providing a secret window into her thoughts and dreams. It was through these midnight confessions that I learned to love all her imperfections and flaws, embracing them as my own.

As I got lost in her features, I found my mind drifting back to the first time we met. I was out for a run in the night. My wolf had been restless through out that day and I knew it wanted to be set free to roam so I did.
