Chapter 17: Him

Isaac was staring at me endlessly while approaching my position. I tried to move and stand up, but my legs and body hurt so much.

I felt like all my bones were broken because of falling into this cliff. I bit my lower lips when I tried to move again, but the bone on my left foot near the ankle seemed to break.

The corners of my eyes warmed up. I want to cry in pain as if the iron was piercing my foot. It’s not a sprain. How can I get out of this forest if I’m in this condition?

I don’t even know where the exit in this forest, and something like this has happened to me! Why am I so unlucky?

I touched my left foot and put pressure to prevent the pain, but it didn’t work. I looked at it, but I just blew into the air. What am I thinking? No matter what I do, I can’t see anything in the darkness.

I almost fainted when I turned around. Isaac is in front of me. I don’t know how it happened because I didn’t hear his footsteps approaching me. Did he fly?

What’s more shocking is that he is surrounded by fireflies. That’s why I can see him inside this dark forest.

I don’t know, but this Siberian Husky looks like a king of the forest. Surprisingly, fireflies were dancing around him, and it does not drive them away like other animals when confused.

Only now did I notice that Isaac’s face was so close to mine. I suddenly held my breath. Both of us are facing each other. I can see him free, and I know he is too.

I held my breath as I looked at Isaac. His hackles up and with stiffening posture. My body starts shaking because of Isaac’s aggressive behavior.

I raised my hands behind my back for support and step back to take my face away from Isaac. But he just keeps stepping forward.

I want to stand and run, but my body can’t. I already feel my own weakness. I had no choice but to stare at Isaac. The fireflies that playing around Isaac were slowly leaving him.

I could already feel the heavy breath of the Siberian Husky in front of me. Isaac’s mouth releases extreme heat along with the air in my face.

I am not afraid but fears what Isaac will do to me. My body was shaking because of the mixed feeling. Body aches, chills, and fear that I might not be able to get out of this forest safely.

Isaac’s kind was closed to humans. They are lovable and friendly, but Thraia warned me about him. I don’t know why. Yes, dogs can be dangerous, but I don’t know how Isaac can put me in danger.

The lights fading because the fireflies are leaving. As I stared at Isaac, I was surprised when he brought his face close to mine. I could hardly breathe properly. I don’t want to move.

His breath was directed to my face. I immediately closed my eyes when Isaac was about to bite me. This is all I can do in my current situation.

Waiting for his fangs to bite my skin. I was shocked to feel someone licking my face and not a fang piercing my skin.

Trying to ease the fear, I opened my eyes to check if my thoughts are correct. I was dumbfounded when I found Isaac licking the hell out of my face.

What the?! I don’t know if I’ll be happy or angry. I almost had a nervous breakdown because of his sudden pursuit of me, especially with his aggressive behavior.

I thought Isaac will gonna eat me with those mad eyes earlier. He is like his boss. Staring at me like he was about to swallow the whole of me.

Wait, why do I include Reign in this? I stared at Isaac and immediately noticed his face. He used to be like he was angry and wanted to kill me earlier.

But right now, Isaac was friendly. He didn’t stop licking me. He even put his feet on my legs. Seeing Isaac like this makes me at ease.

I don’t know why Isaac acts like this. He almost ate me, but surprisingly, dogs’ moods can change in a short period, very much like his boss, Reign.

I let out a deep sigh and then tried to move my body upwards but to no avail. I suddenly fell because of unbalancing, but Isaac bit the hem of my dress, which prevents me from falling.

I looked at Isaac. I don’t know how he reacted because the fireflies around him were already gone. Even though it was painful to raise my legs, I stood up straight.

Isaac also took off his mouth on my clothes. The forest is dark again, but I tried my best to stop my body from shaking. I raise my hands.

Even though I felt a little nervous and my body trembling, I still tried to put my hand on his head.

I’m not sure if I touched Isaac’s head since it’s dark, but I don’t care. I just want to pat and give him a reward for pulling me from falling. If it wasn’t for him, I might be hugging molds and the ground.

I felt like he liked what I did because I could feel his fur pressed against my thigh. I was standing while patting this Husky’s head.

I was there standing for a while, patting Isaac’s head. I don’t know why. I’m not sure if this Husky is really Isaac, but that doesn’t matter. I need to put my goal first.

I roamed the place. Without thinking, I started to walk.  Timepass fast. I don’t know what Isaac will do, whether he will follow or stay here.

But I was surprised when he started taking steps following my direction. I can’t see him, but I noticed that his white fur was transparent in this dark forest.

I ignored him and continued walking until I saw some light coming from a fire ahead of us. I stopped, and without knowing the reason, a smile formed on my lips.

I don’t know why but only one thing entered my mind, whoever owns this light will definitely help me get out of this forest.

I positioned my body and endure the pain. I ran towards the light. I heard Isaac running behind me, and he was barking. Maybe because he doesn’t want me to run or because he was excited about running before me.

My mind was excited, and my heart was beating rapidly. My breathing also becomes heavy at the thought that someone will help me out of this place.

I don’t know what time it is. I don’t care. I only care for one thing and nothing more.

I almost reached the location where the light came, and I slowed my pace. I was wondering because Isaac’s movement suddenly disappeared from my back.

From running, I change into walking. I was close to reaching the source of light. But then I stopped when I saw a figure of a man standing and holding a lamp in his right hand.

I can’t move as if my feet were covered in ice. I was staring at the man in front of me. He walks in my direction. I can’t take a glimpse at his reaction.

It might be dark, but this person walking towards me is familiar, and I’m sure that he’s the person I’m thinking, but how?

When he was in front of me, I finally gave up on escaping this place. His eyes heat up while the vein on the side of his forehead can be seen.

I could see them because he was so close to me and because of the light coming from his lamp.

I don’t know what to do. I’m frozen. Why? I thought that he would be out for a week? Does Elliott lie about it?

“I forgot to tell you that wherever you go, you’ll still end up in my arms. Do this escaping one more time, and I’ll let you feel what hell-like,” his baritone voice was dangerous and full of authority.

I can’t seem t understand what he’s saying. Why? Why is he here? Why is Reign here?!
