(THIS STORY IS PURELY FICTIONAL. ANY CHARACTERS OR SITUATION SOUNDING SIMILAR IS PURELY COINCIDENTAL. I DID NOT FIND THE CURE FOR AIDS.)

Elaine's POV

My son Jean was in critical condition.

I've been dialling his father and my mate for two hours. He was busy taking care of the pack.

I was with Jean as he breathed ruggedly.

He was diagnosed with AIDS seven months ago. A simple flu was going to kill him.

I couldn't look at the time on my phone because of how blurry my eyes became.

But there was a message from my mate's mobile.

[Have fun caring for the sick, weak child you birthed, Elaine! XoXo]

I knew who it was.

It was the human who gave my child the deadly disease.

It was unfair.

Humans discovered a cure for this fatal disease, but the same principles, when used on us werewolves, worsened the effect.

There was a time when Logan Fenris, my mate, would leave everything to attend to my needs. When I was pregnant with Jean and until when Jean turned three.

Logan's attitude changed when he met the human girl, several years younger than him, on a business trip. She was Canadian. She moved closer to our pack. My pack, despite her being a different species, accepted her.

Why?

Because she could bear the fruit of an alpha.

She had resilience.

What about me and my son?

We were cast away by our own pack.

We were no longer a part of Waterstone.

"Mrs Fenris." I stood up at the doctor's call.

"Ms Elaine would be fine." I corrected. He nodded curtly.

"I'm sorry, but your son's infection has progressed. His immunity isn't suppressing the virus." He said. He looked at the nurse and continued again.

"He's contracted pneumonia." He said. My heart sank.

"What are the chances of his survival...?" I asked, tears rolling down my cheeks already.

"Less than 12%. I recommend you involve healers of your kind to treat Jean. I'm sorry." He spoke briefly and left.

What do I even do?

I've been ostracized from Waterstone. No healer would come to my aid.

That's when I took matters into my own hands.

I was barely 19 when Jean was born to me. I was 24 when I was holding both my palms close and generating healing waves from my palms, at that moment. I was born a healer. But I was never given a chance to grow.

I channelled energy to heal my son, but it was of no use.

That's when I decided to drive back to the pack, four hours away, just to beg a healer to come and help my son. Their future alpha.

Waterstone packhouse at midnight was vibrant. I didn't know what was going on.

I walked into the crowd. They were repulsed by my presence soiling their festive mood.

"Where is Logan?" I asked in a croaky voice. I hadn't eaten in five days.

"Alpha Logan? He's celebrating, Luna. I wouldn't tell you to go to him." A member of my pack suggested. I didn't listen to him and went in anyway.

I should've realized.

There he was on the lifted platform, throwing confetti and popping champagne bottles. He was clearly drunk.

"My love!" He slurred. He drunkenly strutted to me and kissed my cheek.

"It's our anniversary! Where were you!?" He asked, feigning care for me. We've been together for six years, ever since I turned 18.

"Out for weeks. Taking care of our son." I said. I was eager to get permission to take two or more healers with me. Logan Fenris is Waterstone's alpha.

"Aw~ You missed the party!" He said.

"A party without the partner present? How flaky-" I was to insult him but Logan cut me off.

"Noooo! You got it all wrong!

We are celebrating Leah's 100th day of pregnancy!" He said. My eyes widened.

"Leah? The Canadian Human? She's pregnant?" I asked. He nodded giddily.

"Oh, I'm going to be a father again!~"

My stomach churned.

My whole world went blank.

"What...?" I asked to confirm. Who was I kidding?

"That's right, Sweet Cheeks! I'm gonna be a father again! With Leah's baby!" Saying, Logan started laughing loudly with the crowd. I gazed around, embarrassment flooding my body.

"I- I don't care what's going on, but You two should get a grip and help my son." I said, shaking and in tears. Logan leaned in, his eyes an ice-cold gaze.

"Get a grip and help your son? Jean is my son too, Elaine. You don't see me caring so much about him. He was always a weak child, unworthy to be my son. I don't care what happens to him..."

Those words from Logan reminded me of the mistake I made. I shouldn't have let Logan make me a mother. I shouldn't have let him plant his seed in me when we mated, seven years ago.

I held in the anger and turned around. Suddenly, I grew incredibly dizzy and fell to my knees.

"Fuck..." I cursed; my knees had scrapped. However, my wolf Jea helped me get a grip. I stood back up and barged into the healers' hut.

"You two," I pointed to two healers randomly.

"You're coming with me," I said. Just then, it thundered outside as they jolted at the noise.

"L-Luna...we were told not to take orders from you." One responded. I raised an eyebrow.

"By who?" I inquired.

"By Alpha Logan." My world shattered again.

"Um...because you aren't our Luna anymore from this day forth, Healer Elaine..." another older woman said. I was confused.

"What do you mean? Who's the Luna then?" I asked sternly. I thought they'd answer that filthy human was the Luna. But the answer was beyond my expectations...

"It's...Mother Olga."

Mother Olga...?

Logan's Mother, the one who took care of the pack ever since her husband and mate left the pack to attain 'penance'.

I let out a shaky breath. The atmosphere grew cold very suddenly.

Jean was the last thing on my mind before I lost consciousness and fell to the ground.

[Time - 8:49 am]The seats were cushioned just like corruption. My ass hurt. They didn't even give us water bottles. Imagine waiting for 2 hours because the CEO of Fenris&Co decided to attend a 'surgery'. A life-saving one, indeed. When he came up on stage, his tousled hair and an almost buttoned-down shirt with creases were photographed. Excessively. In a way, the flashes could blind any ordinary man up there. But he was Jacob Fenris. The man was used to it all.I kept staring at a few things in particular. The shade of pink and red smeared across his lips was barely noticeable. When he walked in, he carried a whiff of air smelling like 'cheese' with him. Needless to mention—he just made his secretary smile ear to ear, holding the clipboard. I could see her behind the curtains from where I was seated. Pathetic. "Today..." he announced loudly, breathing sharply with that annoying old man's snot inhale sound, "We will be a witness to one of the best, most powerful chemical miracles.

Elaine's POV I've been in my room for Goddess knows how long. Jean's health was declining. My ego, pride, and revenge were on the line. Which one weighed more?My son's life or my ego? What kind of a mother was I? Having that question pop into my mind was foolish in itself. "I'm such a loser..." I said to myself. A loser mother who can't even decide what to do. Just then, I got a call from Dr. Rayleigh. "Hello..." My voice was hoarse. I'd been crying. Again. I was also breaking my promise to Jean by crying and accepting my weakness. "I'm outside your room, Elaine. I've been knocking." He said calmly. "O-oh..." I scrambled to my feet, wiping tears away and patting my cheeks. Shouldn't look like I've been crying. "Sorry, it's just...I've been scrolling on the phone, haha." I lied, dangling the phone between us. I invited him in. "I heard what Dr. Taylor suggested. You should listen to her, but the decision is yours. I understand you." His kind words carried me away. Just last

  • Mommy, Daddy Doesn't Want Us Back?   Stalking

The poet was happy. I never thought I'd be swayed with words ever again. But my son's doctor had me feeling some kind of way~ The breeze was gentle. The walk up the small hill to reach Fenris Mansion was brief and quiet. Yet it felt like a milestone. "Now we get to put our acting masks on." Said Dr. Rayleigh. I pulled up my black mask. The soft tissue, which mimicked the softness of linen, hugged my face. This small piece of cloth alone would be as expensive as the locket that hung on my neck all the time. Dr. Rayleigh truly believed in comfort. But just a little differently than I. "...yeah, yeah, I heard that. Just cancel the deal if they're not bringing profits, you bastard!" I was appalled to listen to the old, balding man so fluent with profanities. That was out of nowhere. As he exited the house for a walk, there was a young lady under his arm. Wait... "Wow, dude's full on cheating on his broad." Dr. Rayleigh said as he took pictures silently. I couldn't help but chuckl

  • Mommy, Daddy Doesn't Want Us Back?   Wanna Be The Reason

The day was going bright. I was allowed to volunteer and follow around the top doctors for the day. It was part of my onboarding and training. I was allowed to pick whoever I wanted. I chose to observe Dr. Rayleigh. He's always on his feet. He had a seven-hour-long surgery today, and I was replacing an OR nurse. Precision was his strongest suit. I liked how he had the OR under control, too. The patient almost bled out. But the man behind the surgical mask had everything under control. Everything. Including me. "Dr. Rayleigh," I approached him near the sink. He was washing off blood from his forearms, sanitising. "You're an amazing doctor," I said first, to get him in a better mood. "Tell me something I don't know, Elaine." I could see his smirk from beneath his mask. "Of course, but maybe we should just call it a day after work. You've had a major surgery today." I said. "Is this about me having no energy for stalking Jacon Fenris today, Elaine?" He turned to me, eyebrow cocked

  • Mommy, Daddy Doesn't Want Us Back?   Leah Fenris

My body convulsed. Anger I didn't know I had in me for so long, bottled up, brewing and explosive, came bubbling when I saw her name. Leah Fenris. Daughter of Jacob Fenris, CEO of pharmaceutical company, Fenris&Co. "Does that file interest you so much, Ms. Elaine?" Dr. Rayleigh was interested in my interest. He stared at me silently for as long as I stared at the file, reading each word until I memorised the whole report. "What...is the patient's name?" He asked,"Leah Fenris..." Silence ensued. "Ms. Elaine, I'd like to ask you to keep the file down. Or, give it to me." He said. "You don't look so good." Of course, I wouldn't look any good! The woman who gave my child the deadly disease, slept with my husband so many times got a cure and my son couldn't!? I was angry beyond belief! "I...I'll see you tomorrow, doctor. Please let me borrow this file." I asked naively."Ms. Elaine, I can't give patient files to unauthorized persons—""I'm his mother..." Voice rough, eyes blood

  • Mommy, Daddy Doesn't Want Us Back?   Loan And Interest

Elaine's POV Several days flew by. I was busy with work and I was happy that I was busy. It kept me distracted. Engaged. On my toes. Dr. Rayleigh provided a nurse uniform for me even though I was a doctor and a healer there. The quarters provided for me and Jean were safe and tidy. Jean was in his isolation ward. I was in my accommodation, praying to the Goddess everyday to reunite me with my baby. *Knock knock!* I shut the books softly, went to answer the door that was just five steps away."Dr. Rayleigh," I welcomed him inside. His eyes darted around every nook and corner like a surgeon observing the body, and he smiled. "You make a modest home out of anything, Ms. Elaine." He said. The blush crept on my face like fire. Made my cheeks warm and chest warmer. "P-Please sit down. It makes me feel like I'm punishing you like in school." I said, offering him my chair. My options were the study chair or the bed. "I was wondering if you'd help me out at my place tomorrow evening b
