I stare at my reflection in the full-length mirror, barely recognizing the girl in the glass.

The dress is even more stunning on me. The deep royal blue hugs my body in all the right places, the fabric shimmering under the soft glow of the room’s chandelier. The embroidery along the hem catches the light, intricate and delicate, like silver filigree woven into the fabric. The neckline is elegant, dipping just enough to be flattering without feeling too revealing, and the way the skirt flows when I move makes me feel like I belong in some kind of royal court.

I lift my hands, smoothing them down my sides, feeling the luxurious material beneath my fingers. It feels right. Like this dress was meant for me.

And yet, my hands won’t stop shaking.

I’m supposed to walk out there soon. Supposed to stand beside Elijah as my dress and presence by his side wordlessly announces to the entire Summit that I am his. That we belong together. That what we have isn’t just some mere teen fling romance—bu

Luca leaves after that, claiming he has a few things to take care off. Though we suspect he might have gone to his room to take a nap.The dorm feels overbearing after that conversation. I keep trying to shove the thought away, that breaking the bond might be the only way out, but it slithers back every time.Just thinking about it hurts, not just in my head or my heart, but all the way down to my bones. And I’m not the only one struggling. We’re all restless and on edge and incredibly sleep-deprived.Nate—who has nodded off more than a couple of times, then physically shook himself awake—suddenly jumps to his feet, grabbing his jacket.“Alright. Time to grab some caffeine and sugar,” he declares.I raise an eyebrow. “The cafeteria’s closed. I doubt the kitchen staff will hand out treats this long after curfew.”Nate smirks, wagging a finger. “You underestimate me. Do you really think I’d let something like a little rule stop me? I may have… made an arrangement.”Celeste tilts her hea

The words land like a blade to the gut.“No.” Nate’s voice snaps, looking like he himself has been personally offended. “Absolutely not.”“Seconded,” Celeste says instantly, arms crossing over her chest. “We’re not breaking the bond. Besides, it seems Elijah sent Hailey some kind of protection charm.”“Some kind of protection. But will it protect them during dreamwalking? How sure are you that will work for it?” Luca just shrugs, the movement casual, but his gaze razor-sharp. “Any better suggestions to keep Hailey awake this time around? No? So, we just wait until we all eventually pass out of exhaustion and lead Alpha-Jerkface straight to Elijah? They’ll kill him, you all know that.”My pulse spikes. “No. Absolutely not. There has to be another way.”“Well, if you come up with anything better, let me know,” Luca shoots back, his voice like flint. “We’re sitting here pretending this is fine, pretending it’s manageable. It’s not. If they’re tracing him through you, this only ends two w

I can still feel his hands on my face. The ghost of his grip lingers along my jaw, and every time I blink, I see that glint in Mr. Ledger’s eyes, like he’s already found a way to pry Elijah out of me. The truth serum left a sour aftertaste in my mouth, and I’m convinced my blood is still buzzing with it.But I force myself to sit in the cafeteria like everything is fine, like I’m not one wrong look away from bolting.“Okay,” Nate says, waving his fork like it’s a sword. “Hear me out. Lemon pants. It’s the future. Bright, bold, citrusy—Ben would look amazing.”I blink at him, completely lost. “Who’s Ben?”“The current student council president.” He gives me a dramatic flourish, fork still in hand. “Imagine him showing up to class looking like a walking piece of fruit. Instant respect.”Normally, I’d laugh at Nate’s randomness. Instead, I stab at my food and fail to taste anything. Across from me, Adrian shifts in his seat, fiddling with his water cup, looking anywhere but at Nate. He’s

The shadows seem to thicken around us, pulsing as if alive, stretching into clawed shapes that reach from the dark. The air grows colder with every step Diana takes, and part of me is screaming at me to turn back. But my feet betray me. They move anyway, crunching over soil that doesn’t sound like soil, following her into the dark.“Great. So there’s something I need to see,” I mutter under my breath, trying to keep my voice steady. At the rate things are going, I’m not sure I want to know.Diana pauses for a second, peering over her shoulder with a slight smile. She lifts her hand and presses her finger to her lips, signaling for me to remain quiet.I sigh and continue to follow her.The mist clings tighter the further we go. My lungs feel heavier, like I’m breathing in smoke instead of air. I keep glancing sideways at the shadows, sure something is moving just out of sight, circling us, and waiting to pounce.Diana doesn’t seem bothered by it. She kept walking on, her cloak dragging

Nate scrambles. I intercept Hailey again, trying to guide her back toward the bed without actually hurting her. She’s not listening, not seeing us, really. Her mouth keeps moving, her face tight with panic. “Elijah—he’s not okay—I know it—dammit, Celeste, let go of me—!”The sleeping bag hits me in the shoulder.“Thanks,” I mutter, yanking it open on the floor. “Hailey, I’m really sorry about this.”“What are you—don’t you dare—” she tries to make another beeline for the door.Nate tackles her low while I pull the fabric around her in one swoop, dropping to my knees as we wrestle her inside. It’s messy. Limbs are everywhere. At one point I think she almost bites me.But eventually, she’s rolled up like a rogue cinnamon bun, zipped to her shoulders and still squirming. “This is so undignified,” she grumbles from inside the fleece, trying—and failing, thankfully—from getting herself free.“Yeah, well,” I say, collapsing next to her, “you were two seconds away from punching a window.”Na

Celeste.Keeping Hailey awake turned out to be way harder than any of us expected. We didn’t plan it properly, but it’s not like we had time to spare to come up with a better solution. And now that Dreamwalking is being directly monitored, things have gone from bad to worse. Hailey is in more danger than she’s willing to admit, and if she slips up, it won’t end with just her. They’ll find Elijah too. When that happens, well—we already knew what they did with hybrids around here, and Hailey will be punished for mere association.I didn’t even want to think about what they would do to Elijah.I refuse to sit back and watch that moron that is supposed to be out alpha, destroy the lives of my best friends.I let out a slow breath, my eyes fixed on the potion in my hand. It was midnight-blue, laced with threads of silver and gold, shimmering like it was alive—restless, waiting. Now, the worst part wasn’t the lack of sleep or the way Hailey’s hands kept shaking like her bones were rattling
