Malik’s POV

My mother meant the world to me but I couldn't deny that being at her place had always felt heavy, however, tonight the heaviness was unbearable. Perhaps it was just the storm or maybe it was just the weight in my chest that had refused to life no matter how much I tried, every step felt like I was walking into a mud, I hated that it felt like my mother won, Blackthorn always took from me, it always left me dry and empty.

Throughout my journey here, all I thought of was Eve, the memory of her standing in the rain played over and over, the sound of her voice, the tears she had fighting, everything, I remembered the way she called my name and how it sounded like it meant everything to her, I know I told myself leaving was the best thing to do for all of us, at least for a while but now it just felt like I was running away and that was something I hated.

I finally reached the edge of the city where my mothers home stood. Her home looked the same as always, small and hidden

Eve’s POVThe first thing I felt when she returned was relief, warmth…some softness I guess. It had been days since the last time I saw Malik, he had not returned from his mother’s and the situation with the pack had only gotten worse. Somehow when I saw her it felt like some kind of calm in the storm, I just wanted to believe everything would be fine again. “Morwenna? I called, my voice staying between disbelief and gratitude. She stood at the edge of the clearing, her long hair braided into two, her eyes the same as I remembered, she smiled as she walked gracefully towards me.“Eve,” her lips curved into an even wider smile. “You look more beautiful and yes, stronger.” She gave me a hug, surprising me I gave a small laugh, returning the hug. “I was trained by the very best.”She stared at me as we broke apart. “You still carry more than enough in your eyes.”I shifted my gaze, the courtyard had emptied by now the wind no longer blew freely, she quickly wore her veil as we walked,

  • Moonlight Knows My Name    Chapter Sixty

Eve’s POV The storm rolled in before the break of dawn, it felt like it was rubbing my foolery in my face. I absolutely hated myself for how out of control my emotions were becoming. Why was Dorian even an option in my life, why did he have a place, after everything he wasn’t supposed to have such an effect on me. I just wanted to scream but it wasn’t the only reason I hated myself at this moment, it was also because from the corner of my eyes I had seen a figure behind us but it disappeared just as quickly as I looked. I knew who it was but I had been too ashamed to move an inch, I just frozeHow do I even explain? Thunder cracked, shaking the windows of my chamber. My chest already felt heavy before I opened my eyes, something was wrong but it wasn’t in the way I was used to, the usual i-am-hated-by-Blackthorn type of wrong, it felt as though I was about to lose something important to me and my existence, and after my failed attempt at a conversation with him yesterday, I didn’t w

Malik’s POV The very foundation of Blackthorn was built on secrets, it has always been like this, it was something about this place that just knew just when to break you with information you didn’t request for. The old stone held whispers, absorbed grief on days it needed and then when you least wanted them, they just crept back to you. More than ever, I wish the walls had kept quiet, I wish they had protected me , instead it betrayed me, totally threw me under the bus. I didn’t mean to listen, honestly…I didn’t. I came looking for Eve when I saw how intense the conversation between her and Dorian looked, I should have just turned, but I needed to make sure she was safe, I knew I treated her like an egg, like she would break if I didn’t try to hold her together, it was something I had promised to work on.I just wanted to see her even for a minute at least before leaving to attend to my mother’s summon.I didn’t expect to find her where I did, nor did I expect her to find her standi

Dorian’s POV “Alpha , urgent summon from the council.” A guard spoke from behind me I looked at Eve then my gaze shifted the ground, my hands forming fists. All they ever speak about is the respect and power that comes with being the Alpha, no one ever spoke about how much it took from you, here I was in the middle of a conversation that would either make or break me but I was still summoned. “Leave,” I snapped at the guard without giving him a responseMy gaze returned to Eve as silence clung to us. I stared at her and all I saw was the woman who walked into my war room with a mind full of questions and a heart full of hurt. I didn’t matter what any one said before me was the woman who fought death more than even with broken bones but I still could see the woman who looked at her enemies with the same fury with which she used on herselfThere was terror in her, but it wasn’t from knowing she was being chased by enemies , it was from the feeling that she was herself the enemy.“He

THE WARThe world had shaken under the claws of two strong packs : The Harttman and Blackthorn, this was long before Eve saw the world for the very first time, long before Malik or Astrid, long before Dorian’s father became Alpha. No one paid it any attention when it first started, it was a whisper at first, then slowly it became a feud, it was just small and petty Then it became a war for territory, a battle for rights of hunt line then the issue of a single violated border. But pride was at stake, it soon escalated. The first blood draw was in the winter. A Harttman hunter was found dead by Blackthorn river, his throat had been slitted with a blade, his body totally drained of all the warmth and color. Blackthorn however, swore innocence, they claimed rogues had been seen around the area some days ago. Harttman did not buy it. Their retaliation came the next moon and it was bad…homes had been burned to the ground, a newborn had been stolen and killed with the body dropped by th
