He’s Coming

It’s been a week since Mike passed, a week of numbness and suffocating pain. The news of his death hit Alexis hard like a blow. She cried as her father broke the news to her, “It’s not true. He promised me he’d be back, he promised me that he’d be fucking back!!!” Alexis cried out and hastily ran to her room sobbing uncontrollably. Mr. Hill never knew why his daughter cared about Mike this way so he simply dismissed his thoughts. Meanwhile, when Cox heard it on the news, she mumbled, “Oh Mike, why did you have to be so goddamn heroic.” She swirled her cup of wine and gulped it all.

At Mr. Hill’s company, the air was somber. Whispers and chatters rippled through the air. Co-workers gossiped amongst themselves saying, “I just can’t believe he’s gone.” “I wonder how Delacy’s holding up.” “How could he give his life up for a fucking prostitute.”
