Chapter 5

When Rosy woke up, she couldn't find Ken in bed anymore, she checked the time and it wasn't morning yet and he never woke her up after she slept off.

She went to the bathroom to check if he was there but he wasn't, she checked the study, the living room, the kitchen and everywhere she could think of but he wasn't there.

She passed Cassandra’s room and she heard voices, it was the voice of a woman whose moan filled the room. She pressed her ear on the door.

“I will always choose you over and over again,” Ken said to Cassandra.

“What about her, ahh…” a moan escaped her lips.

“She is still here because the family won't accept a divorce.”

“Faster and deeper sweet, let's forget about the barren fool,” she laughed loudly.

“That's my girl, that's why I like you, always in the mood. Now spread those legs so wide, my toy,” He commanded her.

“Just to make you happy, I will do it, sweet.” She continued moaning loudly.

‘Kendrick lied to me,’ Rosy murmured to herself. Her legs were getting weak so she ran back to her room with the last strength in them.

The more she cried her eyes out, the lesser the love she had for him became. All the love and trust she had for him gradually turned into hatred.

She wiped her tears after crying for some time, she said to herself, ‘He is not worth my love and trust, he just messed with the wrong person and I am going to give it to him hot, watch your back closely Kendrick Madavaski,’ she grinned wickedly.

“Sir, Mr. Mahon of the Mahon Digitals just terminated his contract and partnership deal with us, and worst of all…” Daniel Kendrick's PA was talking to him about the recent development in the company.

“What is worse than the termination of the contract,” his voice became tense.

“He withdrew all his shares, Sir.”

“What?” He stood up from his office chair pacing back and front. Since he assumed this position as the ceo of Ruserick Enterprises after his mother, nothing of this sort has ever happened.

“When did this happen and did he say why he terminated the contract?” His voice betrays him from speaking in his usual cold and stern voice.

“The secretary received this message from him this morning and when she inquired the reason for this he only said he received a defamatory text about the ceo Sir,” Ken paused in his tracks when he heard that.

“A defamatory text? Mr. Mahon is our biggest partner, he has access to me, and he has always reached me whenever he wants to, why didn't he do the same in this situation,” anger laced his voice and his eyes became red.

“Sir, I think the best thing right now is to schedule a meeting with him and talk things out, perhaps he would have a change of heart,” Daniel suggested to the distressed Ken who couldn't think straight anymore.

“Yes, that's a good idea, tell the secretary to do that now,” He held his forehead, used his other hand to adjust his tie, and slumped on his chair.

‘What could be the defamatory text he received and who on earth sent it to him,’ were his thoughts. He couldn't attend to the files on his desk and the ones sent to his mail by the secretary all day.

There was a soft knock on the door, “Come in,” He didn't even bother to know who was at the door, his secretary, Lisa entered.

“Sir, Mr. Mahon has agreed to have a meeting with you after refusing to all day.”

“When is the meeting?”

“7pm at Hotel de Rico restaurant.”

“Okay, anything else?”

“No sir, just that you haven't signed the documents I sent to you.”

“I will send them to you soon, you may leave.”

Buzz Buzz, his cell phone was ringing. He checked the caller, it was Cassandra, ‘what does she want?’ He murmured to himself.

“Holla honey,” Cassandra’s voice sounded very happy from the phone.

“Hey,” came Ken’s cold voice as a response.

“Ken, are you okay?” Her voice sounded disturbed.

“I'm fine, just having a bad day at work. How's your day going?” He changed the topic quickly. He didn't want anyone to know what was going on till the meeting with Mr. Mahon.

“Oh honey, I didn't know. Can I help?”

“The only way you can help me is for you to stay safe, with my baby,” a smile finally escaped his lips when he said that. At least he has someone who he is looking forward to meeting.

“I will, take care then, bye,” she ended the call.

The office returned to its cold and quiet atmosphere before her call came in and he went back to doing the work he had at hand, anticipating his meeting later in the day.

“Thanks for coming Mr. Mahon,” Ken took his hand for a handshake.

“My pleasure. I couldn't decline anymore seeing your secretary won't take a No for an answer,” He smiled widely in a way that showed he enjoyed the plenty of messages he got from Lisa.

“She is one of our best staff.”

“I see. So what are we having?” Mr. Mahon looked around in search of a waiter.

“Waiter….” Daniel, who came with Kendrick, called out to the waiter close by.

Mr. Mahon and his PA ordered what they wanted while Kendrick and Daniel did the same.

While waiting for their order, they talked about the business world and the current economy of Oxagon City.

The order finally came but Kendrick and Daniel were surprised at the variety of food Mr. Mahon's PA ordered.

‘Is he that hungry or does he barely eat good food,’ Ken murmured under his breath.

“Let's eat,” Mr. Mahon picked up his cutlery ready to devour the food in front of him.

“So Mr. Mahon, I was told you terminated your partnership contract and also withdrew your shares with us.”

“Yes, Mr. Madavaski. I got a more juice offer.”

“Really, from which firm? If I may ask,” Ken was trying to control his anger.

“The great R.B. Conglomerate,” Mr. Mahon exposed excitedly.

“That must really be a nice offer. What about the defamatory text you talked about? Will you mind telling me as a former business partner?”

“The text is of no use to you, it won't have any negative impact on your firm, don't think much about it,” Mahon patted him on his shoulder.

“Besides the juicy offer and the text, is there any other reason why you terminated your contract with Ruserick Enterprises?” Ken knew Mr. Mahon was bottling a lot of information.

Mr. Mahon is one of Ruserick Enterprises' biggest investors and partners. He has been partners with them for three years now and he has never complained about anything until now.

“Well Mr. Madavaski, there is nothing else, your firm is doing well in terms of serving its customers, but you know, everyone will always go for what has much profit and not less.”

“Yes, of course, thank you for your honest response.”

“My pleasure, My pleasure,” Mahon replied joyfully.

They continued with their food in silence. Mr. Mahon got a call, he hesitated for some time before answering the call.

“I will be with you shortly,” He told the caller.

“Well Mr Madavaski, it was my pleasure having dinner with you today, I look forward to more days like this. I will take my leave now, I have urgent matters I need to attend to,” He wiped his mouth and emptied the contents in the cup in front of him.

“Thank you for your time,” Ken stood up, giving him a handshake across the table before he left with his PA.

“Indeed, Mr. Mahon is a rigid man. He refused to spill the actual reason why he terminated the contract and what the text contains,” Daniel blurted out angrily.

“Give him time, he will come around, but first, I need to know who brought the proposal from R.B. to him and also tell the media team to be on alert,” He instructed Daniel who seemed so disturbed by the current situation of things.

The waiter brought the bill, handing it to Daniel.

“What? He exclaimed, getting more furious.

Kendrick collected the bill from him, “ 7 million? For these?” He questioned the waiter.

“I am sorry Sir if the bill seems beyond what you budgeted.” The waiter apologized calmly.

“But we didn't eat much, just the two of us,” Daniel complained bitterly.

“Seems you are getting it wrong sir, the bill there is for everything on this table including that of the two men that left.”

“We will call you back,” Daniel dismissed the waiter.

Kendrick's face turned red, his eyes burning with anger, “Paying 7 million for a meeting that yielded nothing? This is crazy. The company has already lost a lot only today and now this,” He complained to no one in particular as Daniel was on a call.

“Sir, there is a problem,” Daniel turned to Ken shaking, he was scared because he didn't know what his reaction would be.

“What is it this time around?” He asked absent minded.

“Sir, Madam Cassandra has been rushed to the hospital.

“What?!” Kendrick thundered.
