Noah's POV

I glanced at her, clenching my jaw tightly to avoid lashing out.

Layla noticed her mistake and instantly retracted her hand, holding it firm with the other one. "I only ask that you tell me how long you would be gone for when next you travel. Please... I get so worried about that..."

"It's none of your business." I spat coldly. "Now, if you would excuse me."

Without waiting for her to get another word out, I turned and walked away.

Joshua followed behind me. I could tell that he had a lot on his mind.

This was the first time he was seeing Layla now... Or wasn't it?

He said nothing until we arrived at my study.

I went straight to my desk, taking off my shit jacket.

Joshua hesitated, but eventually, he spoke. "Boss, what about this lady?" He asked, his tone skeptical.

I raised a brow and stared at him. "Do you know her?"

"No." Joshua shook his head, but..."

"She's the real Layla Campbell."

That was good enough.

"I met with her father days ago to confirm. She said sh

Layla's POV That was why I didn't want her to spend much time with Noah. I was afraid she was going to use her charms on him and convince him that everything was a lie. Thankfully Noah didn't fall for her cheap tricks. He was immune to her. Probably because all he could feel for her was rage. I shook my head... Letting out all the crazy thoughts. This wasn't why I came here. Elena made me stray from my original mission. Letting out a loud breath, I looked at her again. "You look disgusting," I remarked, my face serious. It was the truth, and I wasn't going to coat it. Not if I wanted her to agree to this deal I was about to make her. Also, it felt good to say that. "And I know you're starving," I added with a small shrug, bringing my nails to my line of sight. "Noah would leave you here to starve... And die." "What do you want Layla?" Elena sighed already getting tired. "Where are you getting to with this" I turned towards Elena again. "I would get you out of here... On on

Layla's POV The stairs were also almost invisible in the darkness, but I kept pressing forward. Stepping slowly on each step, my heart pounding in my chest. This... This was cruel. How could a person do this to another? A smirk formed on my face... Perfect. Where Noah had put Elena in... I thought it was going to be in a crazy place, a prison probably. Thinking of what he thought she did... It was only right. Then, after keeping her here for a while, he was going to kill her. But I didn't imagine it was going to be worse. It wasn't a prison, it was a freaking dungeon! After my call with Alfonso... That man gave me no choice. I couldn't risk going against him, he wasn't one to make empty threats. I thought about my next move for days, trying to see if I could bypass Alfonso's order... I couldn't. I had to talk to Elena... She wasn't going to forgive me, no shit. I wasn't going to ask for her forgiveness either. I was going to make her a deal. It took over twenty minutes

Layla's POV After contemplating for a while... After about five minutes, I decided to follow Joshua and Elena. It wouldn't be a crime if I knew where she was locked up. That way I could visit her, and she wouldn't be lonely. The thought was pure mockery... But I followed it anyways. It took a while to catch up to them, but I did eventually... Watching as Joshua took Elena down something that looked like a hatch. It looked narrow. Joshua would notice if I followed him now. So I didn't. I hid behind a wall, staring at the place. Why was he still keeping her alive? Shouldn't he just kill her now? Elena was too sly a bitch to be kept alive for too long. She was to be struck when she was down. Now that she felt unsure about everything and was close to giving up.But Noah had other plans for her.And I just had to let it go. After almost thirty minutes, Joshua came out from the hatch... But he was alone. Elena was locked up somewhere down there. I nodded to myself, watching him l

Layla's POV "You..." I turned to see who it was, my eyes going wide as I realized. Her. Someone I hadn't seen in over a fucking year, and the first thing she did as soon as she saw me was to yank my hair? "Argh!" I yelled even harder, struggling to get her away from me. Something told me that she knew. She at least had a feeling that I was the one who told Noah about her, if not... She wouldn't be doing this. Elena cursed, dragging my hair even harder. I could swear that my hair had started pulling from its fucking scalp!"Let me go!" I struggled, tears welling in my eyes. I wanted to reach out and drag her hair too. To force her to calm the shit down, so I could explain. 'Explain what exactly?' my subconscious chipped in that terrible moment. That I had always hated her for constantly stealing my spot in life, so when I saw the chance to take my revenge and get rid of her, I took it? Or that I has to tell Noah something so he wouldn't start suspecting me when his memories

Layla's POV Two days ago. Noah said she was going out a few days ago, and he wasn't joking. He had travelled. Didn't say where, or how long it would take... All he said was that he was getting the betrayer. And that was after I had persuaded and begged him with everything I had. The betrayer... Elena. He already knew where she was. Even if he didn't, I had sent him the venue of the event that was happening the next day. The huge party was organized by the Vasquezes in order to find their daughter. The message was anonymous of course. I wouldn't want him to get too suspicious of me now. I almost felt guilty after doing it. Almost. But then I consoled myself. It wasn't entirely my fault. I was only doing what was necessary to keep my home. Making Elena miserable was just a bonus. After Noah left, I tried keeping myself busy by watching shows. But somehow, the anxiety wouldn't leave. What if the plan failed? Or maybe even backfired? What if Elena somehow manages to convin

  • Mr. Reynolds, your wife is an imposter    Chapter 113 And I'm weak

Elena's POV I had imagined myself several times getting caught by my targets. Sometimes I would imagine myself screaming for help, while begging everything I held dear to save me. Sometimes I would just be indifferent, knowing fully well that Alfonso wouldn't just let his best employee rot. And there were a few times like this that I would imagine going down by betrayal. I didn't think it would be from a friend whom I thought I could entrust my life to. But then... Life never gives you exactly what you think. In those thoughts, I had imagined myself feeling hopeless. Nobody would be there to save me... And before anyone actually noticed... I would be gone. Dead. Probably by suicide. That wasn't the plan Noah had for me. I could tell. He wanted me to live. Live enough so he would remember everything, so he could fully punish me for my crimes. The thing was that... I wasn't going to last that long. Kaila's visit was an eye-opener. Just like Jack, she was being... In her ow
