THE PAST CONTINUED

Jonathina had been planning Arden’s humiliation for three decades, ever since the night his rejected her marriage proposal in front of the entire court and told her he’d rather mate with a rabid wolf than touch her.

Jonathina arrived at Arden’s court with an entourage of fifty vampires, all of them dressed in ceremonial white that was supposed to signal peaceful intent but somehow just made them look like they were already dressed for a funeral.

Arden watched her approach from where he sat with his advisors flanking him, and felt his wolf snarl inside his chest because she’d been telling people they were engaged, spreading rumors that he was just being coy, and he’d heard whispers that she believed herself destined to rule at his side.

“Supreme Alpha,” Jonathina said, stopping at the base of the dais and executing a bow that. “Thank you for granting me an audience.”

“You requested a peace delegation,” Arden said flatly. “State your business.”

Jonathina smiled and it

  • My Arch Nemesis in my Bed   Chapter 163

Luca sat behind the desk that still didn’t feel like his and tried to focus on the document in front of him even though the words kept blurring together. He’d managed maybe four hours of sleep total for the past few days and his body was making it very clear that it didn’t appreciate being pushed this hard. The passing ceremony was scheduled for tomorrow and had to happen on schedule or the pack would see it as disrespectful to his father’s memory, which would just add fuel to the political fires already burning. His mother was still locked in the holding cells and half the pack thought he was being too harsh on her while the other half thought he should have exiled her entirely. Maya’s father kept making pointed comments about his missing daughter and how concerning it was that the new alpha couldn’t keep track of people, though Luca was fairly certain Samuel knew exactly where Maya was hiding. He had eighteen hours to finalize ceremony arrangements, deal with political challenges an

  • My Arch Nemesis in my Bed   Chapter 162

I stood there staring at Jessica like my brain had completely stopped working, because none of this made any sense. My bubbly, cheerful roommate who talked about reality TV shows and always had boy drama was standing in a werewolf compound in the middle of nowhere like it was the most normal thing in the world.“How did you even find this place?” I asked, because that seemed like the most immediate question even though I had about a thousand others fighting for attention in my head.“That’s kind of a long story,” Jessica said. “Why don’t we sit down and I’ll explain everything?”I glanced at the guard who was still standing by the door watching us, and I really didn’t want to have whatever conversation this was going to be with an audience. “Can you give us some privacy?” I asked him. “I’d like to talk to my friend alone.”He guard didn’t move or even acknowledge that I’d spoken. He just kept staring straight ahead with that same unfriendly expression he’d been wearing since I met him

  • My Arch Nemesis in my Bed   Chapter 161

Cain drove back toward pack territory with his hands gripping the steering wheel hard enough to make the leather squeak, his mind wouldn’t stop replaying the look on Naomi’s face when Jonathan told her what he has been hiding from her. When he told her what he was. He can’t get the look of fear and betrayal in her eyes when she’d realized he’d been lying to her about everything, that he was a werewolf and everyone she trusted had been keeping secrets. His wolf was going absolutely feral in his head, throwing itself against his control and howling loud enough to give him a splitting headache. “MATE. GO BACK. PROTECT MATE,” it kept screaming, over and over until Cain wanted to pull over and shift just to let run it out.But he couldn’t go back, not yet at least because deep down he knows he is not strong enough to fight Jonathan and his coven , not until he figured out what the hell he was going to do about Jonathan’s ultimatum. Bring Lily to the vampires within forty-eight hours or Nao

  • My Arch Nemesis in my Bed   Chapter 160

I woke up alone in Luca’s bed with his side of the mattress cold enough that he’d clearly been gone for a while. I lay there staring at the ceiling and trying not to feel abandoned, even though logically I knew he had responsibilities now and couldn’t just spend all day in bed with me no matter how much we both might want that. There was a note on the nightstand in his handwriting and I picked it up to read it. Had to leave early. Didn’t want to wake you - you needed the rest. There’s breakfast waiting for you in the main dining hall whenever you’re ready, just ask anyone to show you where. I’ll come find you as soon as I can. - L I read it twice and then set it back down. The thought of going to some dining hall and sitting there while an entire pack of people who hated me stared and whispered made my stomach turn over, so I looked around the room to see if there were any other options. That’s when I noticed the mini fridge tucked into the corner near what looked like a small kitc

  • My Arch Nemesis in my Bed   Chapter 159

I stood there for a second feeling humiliated and angry and scared, and then I went to the window because at least I could look outside. The room overlooked a courtyard where pack members were walking around and talking in groups, and as I watched one of them pointed up at my window. The others turned to look with expressions that ranged from suspicious to outright hostile. I stepped back from the window and let the curtain fall closed, I let the curtain fall closed and stepped back from the window, feeling suddenly very alone in a building full of people who apparently thought I was the worst thing that had ever happened to them. I sat down on the bed and pulled my knees up to my chest, making myself as small as possible, and tried to reach through the bond to let Luca know I was awake and needed him. I sat there in the locked room with spilled water soaking into carpet and food I couldn’t eat getting cold on the tray, and I waited for someone to decide what was going to happe

  • My Arch Nemesis in my Bed   Chapter 158

Lily I opened my eyes and the first thing I noticed was that the ceiling was way too nice for the cell I was in the last time I was conscious. It had these crown moldings and recessed lighting that is definitely not my dorm room’s, when I turned my head I saw the walls were painted this soft cream color with artwork hanging on them. The bed I was lying in felt like it cost about ten thousand dollars, all memory foam and Egyptian cotton sheets, and there was a flat screen TV mounted on the wall across from me. Through a doorway I could see what looked like a private bathroom with marble counters. I sat up slowly and my head spun for a second before settling. I don’t know where I was or what had happened, and panic spiked sharp enough to make my heart race. But then Luca and his face came to me immediately, clear and perfect, and I felt relief flood through me so intense I almost started crying. I did a quick mental inventory to make sure everything important was still there.
