Aurora,

December 1, 2025

My heart froze for a second, and instinctively, my hand flew to the side of my neck where Leon had bitten me that night.

I had always assumed it was just a bite and nothing more, but the mark hadn't healed, and recently, it had taken on a more defined shape. It was sharper at the edges, almost like a crescent with tiny branching lines spreading outward. I had no idea what any of that meant, and when people saw it, they told me they loved my tattoo, which was why I didn't bother hiding it.

"I have no idea what you actually meant by that," I told her.

Rina's eyes widened, and she immediately apologized. "I am so sorry. I didn't mean to assume. Forget I said anything. There is a small house prepared for you, and everything is already arranged, so I hope you enjoy your stay in our beautiful city."

I nodded quietly, but my mind was spinning with so many thoughts. I tried to focus as Rina began explaining my schedule—daily shots, evening events, private royal sessions, the theme for this year's Christmas festival, the central installations I would document, and the important people I'd need to photograph.

I listened carefully, memorizing details while Noel suckled peacefully, his tiny fingers curled into the fabric of my sweater.

While listening to Rina, I lifted my gaze to the window and stared at the city that opened around us in a swirl of white flakes dancing across the skyline.

A massive billboard hung over the main avenue, glowing brightly even in the snow. It displayed the Aerne Christmas Festival in all its grandeur. There were lights, royalty, even wolves on the billboard. It was the kind of spectacle people talked about all year long.

Aerne City was breathtaking. There were ancient stone architecture mixed with modern glass buildings, all of which were covered in a soft blanket of snow that made everything look like a living Christmas card.

Through the car window, Aerne unfolded like a dream painted in snow and lights—wrapped in garlands, streets dusted in white, shops lined with glowing lanterns, and banners announcing the upcoming Christmas festival fluttering like ribbons in the wind. It was beautiful in a way that made my breath catch, and I still couldn't believe I would be spending my Christmas here, working and living throughout the Christmas season while trying to rebuild my life for Noel's sake.

The rest of the ride passed in silence except for Noel's soft breaths and the occasional shuffle of his tiny feet against my chest. I kept my hand on his back the whole time, partly to soothe him and partly because the reality of everything still felt overwhelming.

"We are almost there," Rina said, her tone polite but efficient as she typed something on her tablet.

I nodded and held Noel a little tighter, watching as the car pulled into the large circular driveway of a building that looked far too expensive and far too official to be anything I should usually walk into. It was enormous, sleek, decorated with gold-trimmed wreaths and winter lights that draped the exterior like a crystal curtain.

When the car stopped, I stepped out carefully with Noel strapped to my chest, adjusting his blanket as cold air brushed against his face. "This building belongs to the royal family," Rina explained as she guided us toward the entrance, "but it's primarily used for festival operations and is directly managed by the Crown Prince."

I blinked, startled. Royal family? Crown Prince? What did any of that have to do with me or a photography job? Before I could form a question, she added,

"His Highness won't be joining us today. He has other matters to attend to in the company."

I didn't know why a strange pinch of emotion hit my chest. Maybe it was nerves, or perhaps exhaustion, or maybe it was something I didn't want to name—but I just nodded and followed her through the pristine glass doors.

Inside, the lobby was warm and breathtaking—filled with polished marble floors, towering Christmas trees, garlands draped along balconies, and staff members dressed in coordinating winter uniforms. People glanced at me—well, at Noel mostly—as we followed behind Rina.

She walked briskly toward the elevators, expecting me to follow, and I stepped in beside her, trying to shake the uneasy feeling tugging at me. Just before the elevator doors closed, something made me look back into the lobby.

A figure was standing near the far windows—tall and broad and familiar enough to punch the air out of my lungs.

Golden hair, straight posture, hands in his pockets, and talking to someone. For a heartbeat, everything inside me stilled, and my first thought was of him.

Leon, or someone who looked so much like him that my mind couldn't separate the two for a full second.

My throat tightened, and I shook my head quickly. No, it was impossible. There was no way. I didn't know where he lived, what he did for a living, or anything about him at all, because I had run away and chosen not to look back. The man I met that night could be anywhere in the world. He wouldn't just… appear here, not in this place, not in this city, and not now.

The elevator doors slid shut before I could look back again. By the time we reached the top floor, my pulse hadn't fully calmed, and Noel stirred against my chest again like he sensed something hanging around us.

Rina led me down a hallway decorated with portraits and sparkling lights before pushing open a large conference room.

"Everyone," she announced with cheerful professionalism, "our lead photographer has finally arrived."

Every head in the room shifted toward me. I smiled and waved at them, looking at their faces until my eyes landed on her.

Among the group standing near the front with her arms crossed and her expression tightening the instant she saw me was Clara, my former best friend. The person who ruined last Christmas. The last face I wanted anywhere near my new beginning.

Her eyes widened in utter disbelief before narrowing into something sharp and ugly. She lifted her hand and pointed directly at me, her voice cutting through the room like glass.

"You!" she nearly spat the word. "What are you doing here, Aurora?"

A shiver went down my spine as every gaze snapped between us, and in that moment, Noel probably sensed the tension and began to fuss softly against my chest.

I held him and rubbed his back as my eyes didn't leave clara’s. Out of all the people in the world, Clara was the last person I ever expected to face here.

  • My Baby Daddy wants me for Christmas    The truth

Rina December 15, 2025The first thing I felt was the throbbing. It was a rhythmic, agonizing pulse that seemed to beat in time with my heart, radiating from my shoulder where Leon had bitten down to my very fingertips.I woke up with a strangled gasp, my lips quivering as the cold air of the room hit my skin. I tried to move, but a sharp, white-hot bolt of pain shot against the rough mattress. My breath came in shallow hitches, and I could taste the metallic tang of dried blood on my tongue.I didn’t know where I was, neither did I care, and slowly I turned my head to look at my shoulder. It was wrapped in thick, white bandages, but the red stain seeping through the gauze told the story of the damage Leon’s wolf had done. His teeth had sunk deep, like he wanted me paralyzed or dead.I closed my eyes as a single tear slid down my temple. I didn’t want to do any of this. I was supposed to be the Royal Female Beta who was to be a protector, a shield for the Royal Family; instead, I h

  • My Baby Daddy wants me for Christmas    Forgiveness

AuroraThe room was painfully quiet except from the soft snores of Noel against my chest. I never imagined that Clara would get on her knees and beg for my forgiveness. It was something I had never seen coming. This was the girl who had always been so poised, so sharp-tongued, and now she was reduced to a trembling heap on the floor.I clenched my fists and heaved a deep sigh. It was so easy for her to get on her knees and beg for forgiveness when all along she had been poking me, throwing shades at my son and me.Does she think it was that easy to forgive and forget?I tried to speak to tell her to shut up but I couldn’t; instead, I just watched her and didn’t stop her when she continued speaking.“I should have reached out to you,” Clara choked out, her voice muffled by the floor. “I even tried to call you... so many times. Everyday after that night, I’d pull up your number and just stare at it until the screen went dark because my pride got the best of me,” she raised her head and

Aurora“Turn on the news right away!” the Queen commanded, her voice trembling with an emotion I couldn’t quite place. “Turn on the television. Now.”Sasha didn’t hesitate. She grabbed the remote from the bedside table and flicked the screen to life. It was a breaking news report, which meant it was happening live, and the image on the screen was a nightmare.A highway bypass not far from the hospital was littered with the wreckage of a royal ambulance. The vehicle was overturned, its back doors torn off their hinges, and surrounding it were the bodies of the royal guards who had been accompanying him.“An unprecedented ambush just moments ago,” the reporter’s voice was frantic, barely audible over the wailing sirens in the background. “The ambulance transporting the injured Royal Beta, Tristan, has been intercepted. Initial reports indicate all guards on board were killed instantly, but Beta Tristan is missing. Authorities believe he has been kidnapped by the Black Spots…”“Kidnapp

  • My Baby Daddy wants me for Christmas    She is not the Enemy

AuroraI was halfway to the door, my heart already racing toward Clara’s room, when the heavy sound of a baby’s wailing echoed down the hallway.I stopped in my tracks as Miss Hart rounded the corner, looking frazzled and exhausted. In her arms, Noel was wailing loudly, his tiny fists bunching as he let out a heartbroken sob that seemed too large for his small body.“I am so sorry, Your Highness,” Miss Hart panted, looking toward the Queen. “He wouldn’t stop crying in the lobby. I’ve tried everything—I rocked him, fed him—but he’s been inconsolable for the last hour.”As soon as she reached me, I reached out. The moment I took him into my arms, the change was instant. The piercing cries died down into a small, shuddering hiccup. Noel pressed his face against my chest, his hands grabbing onto my shirt as he let out a long, shaky sigh.Silence fell over the room.“Well,” Queen Seraphina said softly, a sad but knowing smile touching her lips. “I think he just wanted his mother. Or maybe

  • My Baby Daddy wants me for Christmas    No one is safe

AuroraDecember 14, 2025I just stared blankly at him, listening to the rhythmic, haunting beep... beep... beep of the heart monitor and the heavy silence of Leon's room. I sat in a hard plastic chair, my hands resting in my lap. They were scrubbed clean of the soot and blood, but I still remembered the sight of the silver dagger buried in Leon's arm as he lay unconscious on the ground when I had found him. My own leg was still in a cast, but I didn't feel the pain in my bone anymore. I only felt the hollow ache in my chest as I stared at Leon's still body. Under the heavy white blankets, he looked so small—nothing like the prince who had carried me through a dark tunnel, and certainly not like the wolf who had lunged to protect me."The surgery was successful," Queen Seraphina whispered, her voice cracking for the first time since I'd known her.I wondered what she was feeling as she stood at the foot of the bed. Did she also think Leon wasn't going to make it, just like I did?"

  • My Baby Daddy wants me for Christmas    Rina 2

Leon“Rina?” I repeated, the name tasting foreign in my mouth. It was the last name I expected Aurora to say. I searched her face for any sign that this was just shock from the explosion. “Are you sure? Aurora, there is no way Rina would ever do something like that.”Aurora didn’t blink. Her gaze was locked on mine. “Are you sure about what you are saying, Leon? Truly sure?”I nodded immediately. “Rina had been part of our family for years. We’ve known her since we were kids. Her family has been loyal to the Crown for generations. Her parents were even victims of the Black Spots years ago, Aurora. They lost everything to the same people we are fighting. Why would she ever align herself with them?”It didn't make sense. Rina was the backbone of our social circle. To think she was the hand behind the chaos felt like realizing the floor beneath me was a trapdoor.“Leon, listen to me,” she leaned closer, seeking support. “Think about the ice. The skating shoes she gave me—why those speci
