Masuk"I will take her in exchange," Alpha Dante declared, and the ball room instantly quieted down, and all eyes turned to the said girl. Whispers filled the ballroom, although it was rather useless since everyone could hear them clearly with their heightened senses. Rhea, the object of discussion, stood there in tattered clothes, confused and seemingly lost. She never wanted to draw so much attention to herself, but here she was with everyone's eyes on her because of a single statement from one man. "I am sorry, Alpha Dante, you must be mistaken, that is not my daughter..." Alpha Collins said but was rudely interrupted by Alpha Dante. "She is the one I want,” Alpha Dante said coldly. “Give her to me or forget about our deal.” ***** Born a mix of blood, half vampire, and half werewolf, Rhea was neither considered a werewolf nor a vampire. Just someone who wasn't needed. Someone who shouldn't exist. Someone whose existence was an abomination. Her father's absence in her life and her mother's passing rendered Rhea homeless, nowhere to go, and no one to turn to. She is forced to fend for herself from an early age, serving as a maid in the packhouse despite being hated and scorned by all. Dante, an alpha whose path had always been painted Scarlet, cursed by the moon goddess, walked a lone and bloodied path. He never asked for a mate and never wanted one after all. He was cursed by the very entity their race worships. He never thought he needed one until he met her. For the first time, he felt his heart waver, his silent beast stirred in the presence of another and definitely not out of hostility.

Then suddenly, it became silent. The moonlight glimmered through the thick leaves of the trees. Underneath were blood stains, brown leaves painted red and pained groans and coughs rang through the night as more blood spilled from the unfortunate victims. "Why did you attack my pack?" A cold yet restrained voice came. Eyes glimmering a bright ember. The moon cast a dark shadow upon his features, making him appear more menacing. Blood dripped to the ground from the claws of his half shifted right hand. "Answer me," he commanded, his voice reverberating. As if the wind was on his side, the leaves rattled and the dead ones around were blown away in that instant. A visible shudder ran through the man on the ground, clutching his abdomen. Around them lay piles of dead bodies. Shifters in the human and beast forms sprawled, lifeless, torn limb from limb. "P…par… pardon, p..please," the man stuttered. Blood spilling from his mouth with every word he uttered. "Not only did you trespass into my territory, you killed members of my pack," he said through clenched jaws. "Yet you have the guts to ask for pardon?" He squatted down, his hand clamped on the man's throat. "Do you think you deserve it?" He asked. The man's hands quickly shot to his wrist, holding on to dear life. His feet flailed as the tips of his toes tried to remain grounded. Uneven breaths escaped him, and color began to drain from his eyes. "I'll ask you one last time, and you better answer carefully," he said if he wasn't talking to a man who could barely breathe. "Who sent you?" "N…no one," the man managed to say. "Do you take me for a fool?" he asked. As difficult as it was for him, the man shook his head and then said, "It's…for…re…venge." The sound of bones cracking echoed, and before a second passed, the man's body was thrown lifeless on the ground. His gaze lingeared on the corpse, cold and distant. "Alpha," another voice came from behind. He didn't turn, just glanced over his shoulder, and the new arrival understood that that was the only response he'd get. "We have subdued every last one of those who attempted an escape," they reported. "Mm," he nodded. "Clean up this mess and find out who they are," he said and walked away. "Yes, Alpha," his subordinate replied with a bow of his head. Once he was gone, they looked around and couldn't help but shudder. "This is gruesome, even for us," one of them said. "I am still not used to this even after so long," another muttered. *** Far from the gruesome scene in the woods, a girl lay curled on the ground. Her back aching from being struck with the cane over and again. Blood dripped from open wounds, tears streamed down her eyes, but she didn't dare make a sound despite the pain. Her tail was tucked between her legs and face buried between her knees. It was even a wonder how she could assume such a position even while lying down. Suddenly, her beast ears perked up and nose sniffed the air, then she stilled, her body shaking. Out of instinct, she crawled under the little bed at the corner. "No," she uttered, voice trembling. "Not here, please." But the footsteps kept on approaching, closing the distance slowly like a stalker in a nightmare. Before long, the door to the basement was pushed open, and a head poked inside. Blonde hair and brown eyes was all she could see but that was enough to send fear into the girl on the ground and she tried as much as possible to lower her breathing, turning the already silent room more silent. Seconds seemed longer than minutes and every second that passed pressed down on her mind. "Rhea…?" the blonde girl called, stepping into the room. "I know you're in here, I can smell your stench. There's no point hiding. Save me the trouble and show yourself," she said. But silence was all that greeted her ears. "You know what would happen if I get angry, right?" she warned, her voice still maintaining its sweetness as if she were giving praises and not threats. She pushed down the small stool that exists as the only furniture in there, and it hit the ground causing Rhea to tremble in fear where she hid. "Just where could you be hiding?" the girl said, taking slow steps towards the bed. She stopped once she stood before it, her hands resting on the worn down frame. "Could be hiding…." she squatted, knees and palms pressed on the ground, her eyes searching underneath, "...in here?" She completed her sentence. Rhea jolted but the sudden movement sent pain throughout her body, and her head banged on the bed frame. "Got you," the girl said, smiling like she just found a lost favorite toy. She grabbed Rhea's leg and and roughly pulled her from under the bed. Rhea cried out in pain but it was as if the girl was deaf to it all and continued dragging her around the room. "I'm sorry," Rhea began apologizing even though she had done nothing wrong. "Please, spare me." "You should have shown yourself when I was asking nicely," she said. "You have no one but yourself to blame." Letting go of Rhea's leg, she went around and gripped a hand full of her hair. "Please, let me go," Rhea pleaded, her hands shot up to the girl's hand that held her hair. "Please, Gemma." "Because of you, father is in a bad mood…" the girl, Gemma said, eyes glaring sharply at Rhea. She slapped off her hands as if it were a parasite. "Do you know what that means…?" "That's enough, Gemma," a male's voice came from the door, interrupting Gemma. She frowned and glanced at the person by the door. He leaned against the frame, hands folded crossed his chest, his expression that of boredom. "What?" She hissed, but still didn't let go of Rhea's hair. "Father wants everyone in the study," he said, his eyes then shifted to Rhea, "She needs to heal too if she is to be put to use again." Gemma growled, displeased that her fun was interrupted. "You're quite lucky today," she said and roughly released Rhea's hair. "Let's go, Julian." Once the door slammed shut, Rhea cried, unable to hold it back anymore. At the Crimson Claw Pack, Stella sat inside the drawing room, her back to the door. Her eyes stared thoughtfully into the distance through the open window. A faint crease settled between her brows. When she heard footsteps approaching and the familiar scent of her Alpha draw near, she turned towards the door, rising to her feet. “She is sleeping,” Dante said before she could even voice her question, already able to read her thoughts.“That's good,” Stella breathed out, relief flooding her. She turned and returned to the couch.“You said something earlier about her fur,” Dante said.Stella paused briefly, and then she smiled and sank into the couch. “I did,” she said, and Dante’s eyes narrowed slightly. “It was snow white. That's rare.”“You didn't sound like it was just rare,” he pointed out, and she nodded. “Then…?”“Have you seen a white wolf anywhere in your many travels?” she asked, but his frown only deepened as he shook his head. Stella's smile was warm as she said, “that's be
Back inside the packhouse, Rhea moved around the room, still mesmerized by everything. She came to stand in front of the full-length mirror. She looked at her clothes, they didn't match the luxury of the room. Then there was her washed off scarf still tied around her head. Her hand reached for it, and she loosened it. Long, dark hair with fiery red tips fell down her back and shoulders framing her face. On her head were a pair of white wolf ears. Rhea took a moment to look at her own reflection. Her eyes that were a dark red shade were now dual color of red and blue. The colors receded whenever she wanted to keep her features hidden as if responding to her silent wish. And whenever she lets out her ears and tail like this, they will take back their original colors. She moved sideways so she could see her own back, and her eyes trailed down to her butt where an oversized baggy pants had been worn and a long, oversized sweater was worn over it. Underneath it was her tail. Rhea gl
The Crimson Claw packhouse was a huge mansion. From where Rhea stood and how far she could see, there were tall trees all around and gardens on either side. The people here smiled when they welcomed their alpha, and she didn't feel any negative energy from them, unlike at the Winter Pack. They looked at her, not with anger, annoyance, and hatred, but with pure curiosity. Especially the old lady who looked at her with eyes so bright that Rhea could see the sparks in them.“Who is this lovely young lady with you, Alpha?” The woman asked, her expression softening when their eyes met. Rhea's grip on Dante’s sleeve tightened, not from fear but because what she felt at that moment was foreign to her, and she didn't know how to react appropriately. Dante looked at her when he felt her grip. She poked out from his side like a little rabbit coming out of its hole for the first time. He smiled, his hand going behind her and circling her waist before gently tugging her forward to stand beside
The ride back to the Crimson Claw Pack was long and filled with a heavy silence. The incident from earlier still fresh on the minds of everyone. Even Rhea had her mind occupied with the happening, but sometimes, a different thought slipped in.Her eyes would occasionally drift to Dante’s face, and she would find him with a frown. The longer the frown persisted, the more uncomfortable and guilty she felt, thinking she had done something wrong that angered him.“...Alpha,” she called, her voice low, barely above a whisper.Dante looked at her briefly, his dark eyes meeting hers, and she shifted where she sat. Her hands clutched the hem of her skirt.“I…I didn't mean to offend you,” she said, “I just…” Rhea was beginning to stammer under his gaze.Meanwhile, Dante’s eyes remained on her for a few seconds longer, and then he sighed inwardly, his thumb went up his face and rubbed the space between his brows. “Do you know what you did wrong?” He asked, his voice still clipped despite tryin
Rhea followed Dante to the cars parked outside, her eyes blinking at the sight of the expensive cars. She looked at him, her eyes silent asking if she was allowed inside something like that.Reid and Kael stood beside the car, and Kael held the door open.“Get inside,” Dante said. His hand was plac

A few minutes earlier, Reid and Kael were outside with warriors from their pack and those from other packs, just chatting and drinking away when they felt their alpha’s rage through the pack link.It wasn't just them, but all of the Crimson Claw Pack warriors nearby felt it. They ran inside, knowi
“Who the f*ck did this to you?” Dante’s growl vibrated through the room, low and dangerous, the kind that made the air feel heavier. For a moment, no one spoke.Julian stiffened.Rhea instinctively took a small step back. Not because she thought Dante would hurt her. It was just instincts and the
