MasukI slowly got up from my bed heading straight to the bathroom, I let the tap run as I stared at myself in the mirror, I looked quite different, paler in complexion, eyes draped low. I tried fixing a smile on my face but it looked completely fake, "a bath would solve this," I muttered softly, turning to the bathtub. I lowered myself into the bath, letting the steam dissolve my stress. But as my body relaxed, my conscience betrayed me; guilt crawled back into my mind, bringing with it the one person I was trying to forget. "Fuck..." I muttered softly, letting a tired breath, "what spell have you placed on me that I just can't forget you?" I couldn't even stay in the bathtub for long, I left the bathroom straight to the bed, suddenly my phone rang loudly, I groaned slightly stretching to the corner, dragging my phone off the table. I sluggishly answered, placing the phone on my ear, "You've reached Addison's phone line, she's about to sleep, let this be important else I'll be suing
I stood stunned trying to let Conrad's words sink, what did he mean by that? Maybe he was just trying to help Glen or something, but he sounded quite too serious to be joking.I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist gently startling me a bit, "you're a bit jumpy," I turned, seeing him smile softly."Can you guys stop being all cuddling and come eat," Lovina groaned. We made our way to the dining room, both Jake and Conrad sat at each of my sides."The queen and her two bodyguards, what a beautiful sight," Leslie said in a mocking tone, "be warned, I'm coming to sink that ship.""This isn't the first time you're saying that and honestly it won't be your last," Lovina rolled her eyes."Can we just skip all these crazy things and just eat, I've already missed my time for my meds," I smiled softly eating my mashed potatoes. We ate in silence, talking here and there while Jake kept the pretense of making us look like the perfect couple. Finally, we left, Lovina and Caleb still stayed a
ADDISON's POVPRESENT TIMEHis words still rang loudly in my ears, I was no longer feeling safe around him anymore but some part of me felt like I was overthinking while the other part wanted me to cut out of this completely.I slowly made my way to the living room where a cheerful cackle was heard, "isn't that fruits and chocolates for the patient, why are you eating it?" I could hear Leslie nagging at someone, my thoughts... Conrad."Sharing is caring, besides she won't care, she looks a bit too much," I chuckled softly as I heard Conrad, I could literally see that cocky grin plastered on his face.I was about to enter the room when my phone rang with a notification, "hope you love the fruits and chocolate, get well soon, la mia piccola zucca," I smiled at the message Romeo sent.I translated the Italian part, "my little pumpkin," I chuckled softly then entered the room when my face felt a splash of cold water. The whole room went still, even their breath suddenly seized, I slowly
GLEN POV EARLIER THAT MORNING "What?!" I yelled, squeezing the papers underneath my fingers hard, "why are you still here? Aren't you supposed to be with her?" Conrad rolled his eyes, "I had something to do that's why I had to leave, besides her girls are with her, Jake won't do anything stupid." "That doesn't mean anything, she needs you by her side," my voice cracked with anger boiling, "how the hell did she get sick in the first place? Fucking Jake..." "Glen..." Conrad groaned, dragging a fistful of hair, "can you just stop, you keep lying to yourself that by separating yourself from Addidon you are protecting her but instead, you're losing yourself." My grip released slightly, my eyes averting from his gaze, Conrad let out a shaky breath then turned his face to mine, "your wedding is in two weeks, get her off your mind." "It's not that easy," I mumbled under my breath. I pressed the call button to Romeo, "get me white roses, be here in ten minutes." "White roses?" Conrad
I didn't know if I should be scared about his character or I shouldn't be too paranoid about it, I shook my head off these thoughts especially since I was still recovering. After finishing the bowl of soup, I slowly made my way back to my room. Leslie hadn't moved an inch but I noticed how she was shivering, "I'm so sorry." I looked for something to cover her up with because waking her up would be evil. I checked the wardrobe and saw a thick jacket there. I brought it out immediately, and a picture dropped on the floor. I noticed it, bending down to slowly check it. It was a childhood photo with a torn piece of the man's side, a beautiful woman and a child. I turned to the back of the photo, seeing a French writing at the back. I held the photo then placed the jacket over Leslie. I didn't know where my phone was so I folded the photo and placed it into my pocket heading back to bed, "let's wait for tomorrow before playing Sherlock." I closed my eyes, slowly sleep took over me aga
I slowly opened my eyes, feeling very sore in every part of my body. My throat felt dry, and I could barely move, but my lips found a way to move gently, "hmm..." A soft moan escaped my lips. "Guys... she's awake," I heard Leslie scream on the top of her lungs then turned back to me, my mind was still in a haze, everything still looked blurry but I was able to put two together. "Water..." The word barely left my lips, but Leslie heard rushing to get a cup of water, placing the straw between my lips, "here... drink slowly." I slowly drank the water, the taste felt weird in my mouth, like I was drinking a bitter capsule, my throat tightened at each sip, I moved my head slightly then Leslie took the cup away. "You gave us quite a scare," she said softly, her hands intertwined with mine. She softly adjusted my pillow, relaxing my body against the bed. The others came into the room gently, their faces completely drained with worry. I wanted to reassure them that I was okay, but my bo
“Addison…” I blinked at him, still frozen in the middle of the mall, of all the people I could have bumped into while secretly trailing Glenn’s secretary, Jack was probably the last person I expected to see. “You?” he added, his brows pulling together slightly. “What are you doing here?” His wo
Glen straightened slowly, “I have a meeting.” His voice was calm as he reached for a stack of documents on the desk, flipping through them carefully. My chest tightened. I watched his hands closely, he gathered the papers, slid them into a slim folder, and tucked it under his arm. I searched his
"Is that my gift for helping?"I looked at his text, rolled my eyes and entered the cab. Leslie kept giggling as she replied to the texts on her phone."Who got you feeling like a high schooler?" I teased."Oh please," she let out a soft laugh, "like every guy I flirt with can make me feel like a h
"I'll call you when I get there," Leslie said while entering the guy's car"Sure," I waved at her as the car zoomed off, I exhaled softly and went back into the big mansion.I went straight to my room, taking out the novels that I had gotten a few weeks ago but never got the time to read. Before I
