My Contract Marriage

Agatha's pov

"Agy Wake up"

I jolt up from my bed, knocking heads with my roommate who stood above me "Oww" "shit" we both mutter at the same time.

"why is it so bright? I ask my voice groggy from sleep, while rubbing my throbbing head. The bright atmosphere outside the apartment complex was contributing to my building headache.

Our apartment wasn't as big as we had wanted it, but it was the best we'd come across when apartment hunting, it had a small kitchen a sitting room, two bedrooms, and one bathroom which we shared.

it's 6:29" she says, I process the information for a second," Oh shit. shit" The sound of horns blaring and people's voices indicated the hustle and bustle that is New York City.

I hurriedly make my way to the bathroom."o my god my alarm did not go off" I state while tossing my shorts and tank top into a hamper.

"I think it's broken," Claire says picking it up from the ground beside my bed while holding an ice pack to her head

"What….how? I ask, she shrugs "I'm going to be late," I say while slipping into the shower. In hindsight, I still had 31 minutes till my shift at the hotel, but I like to be punctual.

Turning off the shower, I wrap a towel around my body and step into the room "You're one of their best employees they're not going to fire you because you are late" Claire states I move toward our shared closet and picked a black pencil skirt and paired it with a blue blouse " that doesn't mean I should be late" I pointed out, while buttoning my blouse.

Claire sighed, already knowing what she was going to say, I reach inside the closet to grab my black pumps " No it means you're a workaholic" she mutters.

Claire was my best friend and roommate, but we were like two sides of a coin, where she was witty, outspoken and the life of the party, while I was reserved, kept my opinions to myself, and had a non-existent social life, but we got along just fine.

I don't give her a response, picking up my bag and phone I walk towards her bed where she sits, and place a kiss on her cheek " Thank you for waking me" She rolls her eyes "You don't need to thank me" "yh yh I know" I say smiling down at her, she returns my smile

"and please pick up Rocky from the vet" I add she groans and my smile broadens, "you know I hate dog duty" she mutters shoulders slumped, I laugh, she has a soft spot for my brown bichon frise but she has never admitted it.

I hurry out of the house to catch the bus "Don't forget to eat something" Claire calls out as I hurry down the stairs "Yes ma'am" I reply.

I make it to work with two minutes to spare, I make my way toward the receptionist desk, slipping behind and getting ready for a busy day.

The Blackwell Hotel had the most sophisticated New York billionaires and celebrities as clients so it was always buzzing with activities.

"Good morning Agatha" I look up to see Josh one of the waiters at the hotel's restaurant, "hi josh" I greet back, "you look beautiful today," he says smiling with mischief in his eyes.

Josh was a tall guy with blonde hair and pretty blue eyes he had this boy-next-door vibe about him, he was cute but I wasn't interested.

Between paying hospital bills for my little sister's chemotherapy and juggling two jobs I didn't have time for dating and fun as Claire would put it.

"thank you," I say blushing "Don't you have dishes to serve and clients to attend to? "nah.…I'm avoiding mr houghlin, the kitchen is in a frenzy and he's barking orders at the kitchen staff"

Mr houghlin was the head chef at the restaurant and he was a very nice man, I'd never seen him angry before, granted I only started working here 5 months ago, I wonder what happened.

"Is there a reason he's that way? I ask "Meh" he shrugs leaning on the desk "Something about the boss showing up today" My brows shot up "Really? I asked "Yh" he replies "Even Mr Fleming looks like he's one second from combusting with how red his face was when I saw him" he adds

"Isn't that the more reason you should be in the kitchen? where you are supposed to be" I state giving him a pointed stare, " oh shit… you're right" he mutters rushing towards the restaurant.

I smile at his retreating form then turned to attend to an approaching customer. Work continued like that till Karen my colleague who worked at the hotel spa came up to my desk with a box of donuts, "Here agy I brought you some, I know you haven't had breakfast and it's currently lunch period"

I smile at her full of gratitude and took the box "Thank you Karen I love donuts" I say selecting one with chocolate glazing, she snickers as I take a bite and released a satisfied moan "I know I also got you coffee...iced latte" she says winking.

Karen had always been nice to me since I started work at Blackwell Hotels, she's also invited me to hang out with her and her friends but my anxiety with crowds won't let me accept her invitations beside I already had a tight schedule, I couldn't afford that luxury.

"thank you," I say again, and she waves me off "It's alright I had leftovers from baking this weekend and decided to share," she says.

Then she leans in like she wants to share a secret, and I give her an apprehensive look I was conscious of my space, I did not like being crowded.

"Did you hear about the boss's arrival? she asks, I nod my head "Yes, Josh mentioned it" I say. "Josh the waiter? I nod "You're friends with him? She asks "Not really he just seems to like flirting with me," I say

"Honey he's like that with all the female staff at this hotel," she says rolling her eyes. I giggle at her pissed-off tone. "Anyways I heard he's hot like Calvin Klein model hot," she says "Who? I ask already losing track of the conversation.

She rolls her eyes "The boss Agatha keep up" she mutters. " isn't he like married or something" I ask. "no but I heard he has to get a wife now that he is 30, if not he'll lose the properties to his little brother"

I nod like I understood even if I didn't, I didn't care who owned the hotel as far as I got paid.

Someone calls Karen from the spa, "okay duty calls I'll see you later" she says as she turns to leave.

Just as she leaves the double doors at the entrance of the hotel open and I straighten as a man approaches my desk.

I freeze when he stops at the desk, I don't know why but he looked so tall and intimidating with his three-piece suit, his grey eyes looked like he was accessing and sizing me up.

"Good day sir welcome to Blackwell Hotels what can we do to help you," I say my voice shaky from the nerves I was feeling from his silent perusal. I had to stay professional.

After one last glance at my face and what part of my body the desk didn't cover. He opens his mouth his deep baritone reaching my ears.

"Marry me"
