EMMELINE'S POV

The crowd held its collective breath as the figure stumbled out of the cage. It resembled a werewolf, but its body was grotesquely twisted, with half of it rotting away. The creature's shriek was like nothing we'd ever heard before - it sent shivers down our spines.

Cedric stepped forward, his eyes devoid of emotion. "What are you?" he asked, his voice firm but laced with a hint of curiosity.

The creature lifted its head, making strange, inhuman noises. Cedric called out to Marci, who promptly handed him a sword. Blood oozed from the creature's eyes as it mouthed a word to Grace, who looked like she was about to collapse.

"What is it saying?" Cedric asked, his curiosity getting the better of him. Tears streamed down Grace's face as she struggled to answer.

"It's a rogue wolf, my lord... Lord Santo's experiments turned him into this..." Grace muttered, her voice trembling as she looked at me with sadness.

I felt a lump form in my throat as I bit my lip to hold back tear

  • My Enemy, My Mate   Chapter Ninety Six

Cedric POV Three Months LaterIt’s been three months since the war, and the werewolves are still recovering. The witches’ and Devlin’s attack left a scar across Elton that only time can heal. Many packs dissolved. There were barely any Alphas left standing. That brought me into the picture.More werewolves than I expected joined my pack, making it the largest in Elton. Even the ones who weren’t under my direct command still answered to me.I was the leader.Because I’m the strongest wolf.Everyone’s still mourning the loss of their loved ones. Even Lord Venus and General Lal were killed during the witches’ siege. And Grace… she was paraded through Elgin as a traitor before the rogues tore her apart.I felt no sympathy. She got what she deserved.I made a tombstone for Aurora. The demons killed her, but at least she died fighting for something good. Something worth remembering.Over the past few months, I’ve searched far and wide for help—Emmeline is still unconscious. The physician s

  • My Enemy, My Mate   Chapter Ninety Five

*****Cedric POV*****I watched her eyes flutter shut, and her chest fall still. No rise. No breath. No heartbeat. This couldn’t be happening.“Emmeline!” I shouted, my voice cracking as I shook her limp body. “Wake up. Baby, please... wake up.”Nothing.Her skin was already cooling, her lips turning pale. The silence where her heartbeat used to be tore something loose inside me.“Don’t do this. Not now. Not like this,” I whispered, pressing my forehead against hers. “We were supposed to raise him together. You promised…”But she was still. Cold. Gone.Lucian’s cries pierced the air behind me—sharp, helpless little sounds. My baby boy. Barely a day old, and already bathed in death. And it was all because of him.I turned slowly, my jaw clenched so tight it hurt.Devlin stood a few feet away, casually watching like it meant nothing. His face was blank. Not a flicker of remorse.“If you’d just given me the baby,” he said, shrugging, “I would’ve let her live.”A grin played on his lips. M

  • My Enemy, My Mate   Chapter Ninety Four

***EMMELINE'S POV***My baby boy was just yanked away from me before I even had the chance to look at his face.He had such a cruel fate. Barely born, and already marked for death.Hot tears streamed down my face.“Emmeline, please pull yourself together,” Juliet begged as she dragged me to the bathtub. She helped wash the blood off my body, but I was too shaken and exhausted to even move.“My baby…” I sobbed, clutching my stomach. Grace hadn't even let me hold him.Oh, the heavens were so cruel to me.Juliet rubbed my back tenderly, trying to console me. “I promise we’ll get him back.”It was impossible. Devlin had him already.“Our lives are over!” I pushed her hands away.Grace stormed into the bathroom. “Enough of the drama. Get your asses up!”Juliet stepped in front of me protectively. “One more step and I’ll rip you apart. Don’t test me.”Grace chuckled darkly. “Try me, Juliet. I’ll make sure your body is scattered across Elton for the vultures.”I scoffed bitterly and pushed m

CEDRIC POV Emmeline’s body collapsed to the floor as Devlin lifted his mouth, smeared with my mate’s blood. He had the nerve to grin at me.I lunged forward, but Grace met me halfway with a bone-crushing kick to the side of my head.Bloody hell! How did she become so strong?“Stay down, Cedric!” she hissed, spitting my name like it disgusted her. Her voice, once warm and comforting, was now cold and venomous. There was no trace of the woman I once trusted.Never in a million years would I have believed Grace would betray us.She helped protect the baby.So why?“Ahhhhhh!” Emmeline screamed, clutching her stomach in agony.“You bastard!” I yelled, trying to crawl to her. “What did you do to my mate?!”Grace drove her foot into my head, pinning me down. The air reeked of wolfsbane—thick, choking, weakening every breath I took.“Shhh.” Devlin lifted a finger to his lips, mocking. “The long-awaited child is arriving.”Did I just hear him right? The baby still had two weeks left. Unless…

*****CEDRIC*** “Ready?” I asked Juliet, who nodded fiercely. Today was the deadline Kareena had given us.We didn’t have a plan or any strategy on how to attack the witches. But one thing was clear: I must save my mate.“Let’s go!” I shouted to the warriors. Some were stationed all around the pack house. Most werewolves sought sanctuary in my pack. Not that I minded.I climbed onto my horse as Juliet led the way. Marci and Grace rode by my side as we followed her.“The moment we arrive at Archane, find Emmeline and get her to safety,” I instructed Grace, who nodded. “Yes, my lord.”The journey was a lot longer than we expected. Before we could even calculate the time, night had already fallen.Luckily, the moon wasn’t out yet.We could still save them.“How much further?” Ava asked Juliet, panting heavily.Juliet scoffed but didn’t reply. She led us into a dark forest, and before I could question her,I saw the castle.Archane.It was covered in spells, and I could feel the demons lu

  • My Enemy, My Mate   Chapter Ninety one

EMMELINE'S POV I felt water droplets hit my face. I stirred awake but was unable to move.My body was strapped to the bed in a room I couldn't recognize. My head ached so badly that I could barely keep my eyes open. My limbs felt heavy, and every inch of me throbbed in pain.Kareena.Where was she?“It looks like you're awake, sister-in-law,” I heard a snarl, and I turned to the side.Anastasia was sitting there with a smug look—but she looked like a ghost of herself. Her red eyes looked even more soulless than the last time I had seen her. She looked ghostly pale, her skin clinging to bone like she hadn't slept or eaten in weeks.“Why are you doing this?” I asked, genuinely concerned.Cedric was her blood.Anastasia stood from the chair beside me with a shrug. “I want to be Alpha.”I chuckled at her words. She’s so stupid…dumb. Did she really think Kareena would let any wolf live long enough for her to even rule as Alpha?“Maybe you can be Alpha in your dreams!” I spat mockingly,
