Devon’s hand never leaves mine as we walk back from the clearing. My legs still feel weak after the shift, my skin hot and tingling like the fire hasn’t completely left me. He keeps glancing down at me, protective, worried, but there’s something else burning in his eyes too something I know too well.

By the time we reach our room, the tension is thick between us. He closes the door behind us, locks it, and before I can even catch my breath, he pulls me into him. His mouth crashes against mine like he’s been holding back for far too long. I moan into his lips, gripping his shirt and yanking it off him because I don’t have patience anymore. Not tonight.

“Addy,” he growls, pressing me to the wall. “You’re driving me insane.”

“Then stop holding back,” I whisper, tugging his hair, meeting his hunger with my own.

His eyes darken at my challenge. Normally, he tries to control himself, to hold back like I’ll break. But I’m not weak, not anymore, and tonight I’m going to prove it.

I push him b

When I stepped out of the daycare, the sound of children’s laughter still clung to me like sunlight. My heart felt lighter than it had in a long time, and I realized I was smiling without forcing it. The air outside was crisp, carrying the smell of pine and fresh bread from the nearby houses. For once, I wasn’t rushing anywhere, and no one was glaring at me as though I didn’t belong.I walked down the dirt path, and to my surprise, two women waved at me from a bench where they were shelling peas into a wide basket. One of them stood quickly, brushing her hands on her apron.“Luna,” she said with a small smile. “Would you like to join us for a while?”Her voice didn’t carry hesitation, not the usual cold politeness I had grown used to. Genuine warmth touched her tone, and for a second, I wasn’t sure if I had heard right.I glanced around, almost expecting someone to step in and pull me away, but no one did. So I nodded and walked over.“I’d love to,” I said softly. The second woman, ol

The morning sunlight spilled through the tall windows of the pack house, soft and golden, painting everything in a warm glow. I sat at the edge of the bed for a long time after Devon left for his meeting, my fingers resting lightly on my stomach. My thoughts wandered, as they always seemed to these days, to the small flicker of life growing inside me.A child. Our child. The thought still startled me sometimes. It terrified me too. What if I wasn’t ready? What if my body failed me again?I swallowed hard, memories pressing against me. That awful moment when I discovered the truth that the life I had unknowingly carried with Kyle had been snuffed out before I ever had a chance to hope. Betrayal. Pain. A hollow emptiness that had left me wondering if I was broken.I shook my head and pressed my palm firmer to my stomach. No. I wouldn’t let those memories destroy this moment. Not again. This child was not tied to the pain of my past. This child was tied to Devon, to us, to love.I wanted

The morning sun cast a golden glow across the room, highlighting the soft curve of Devon’s shoulders and the faint rise and fall of his chest as he slept beside me. I couldn’t bring myself to move, not yet. Every time I looked at him, a wave of warmth rushed through me. Even after everything the attacks, the fear, the pack’s hostility this calm felt like a gift I didn’t deserve.I ran my fingers along his arm, tracing the muscles I knew so well, memorizing every detail like it was a secret I could keep locked inside me. His skin was warm under my touch, and I could feel the gentle tremor of his breath against mine. “Devon,” I whispered, brushing my lips against the edge of his shoulder, “wake up.”He stirred immediately, his eyes fluttering open to reveal that smoldering, half-asleep look I loved. “Morning already?” His voice was husky, rough with sleep, and it made my heart thump faster.“Yes,” I said softly, pressing my hand against his chest. “And I think you need some attention.”

The morning light was soft, spilling through the curtains in golden strips. I rested against Devon, my head tucked under his chin, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. Even after everything that had happened, that moment felt sacred. It felt like nothing could touch us here.“Good morning,” he murmured, voice rough with sleep but gentle.I lifted my head slightly and smiled, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead. “Morning, you.”He tightened his arms around me, pulling me closer. “You slept well?”“I think so,” I whispered, leaning into him. “But it felt too short.”He chuckled low, the sound vibrating against my chest. “Yeah, mornings with you always feel too short.” His hand stroked the back of my neck, and I shivered. “You’re warm,” he said, almost to himself. “Too warm. It’s distracting.”I laughed softly, nuzzling into him. “Good,” I teased. “I like distracting you.”His grin was lazy but dangerous, that look that always made my pulse race. “I don’t think you un

I woke slowly to the soft warmth of Devon’s chest beneath me, his hand resting possessively on the curve of my waist. The sunlight peeked through the curtains, scattering gold across our sheets, but it did nothing to calm the storm in my chest. My baby shifted inside me, a small, fluttering reminder of everything I had to protect. I swallowed hard, remembering the miscarriage I’d endured long ago, and the fear twisted tight around my ribs. I’d been scared then, scared now, but the difference was Devon he was here, and he would never let anything happen to me.“Good morning, Luna,” he murmured, his voice rough and deep with sleep. His hand traced lazy patterns along my side, sending shivers down my spine despite the weight of my worry.I turned my head, catching his gaze. “Morning,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “I didn’t sleep well…thinking.”“You were dreaming again,” he said knowingly, brushing a strand of hair from my face. “About Levi?”I flinched, but nodded. “Yes. I can’

I could still feel the burn of the battle, the raw heat of our powers intertwining, lingering across my skin. Devon’s chest pressed against mine as we sank onto the bed, and for the first time since Levi and Patricia had attacked, I let myself breathe. Just for a moment. “You’re shaking,” Devon murmured, lips brushing my temple, his hand warm against my back. “Addy, tell me you’re okay. Please.” I swallowed hard, trying to push back the tremor that had nothing to do with fear. “I’m fine,” I whispered, but my body still pulsed with adrenaline, every nerve ending alive. Devon’s hand slid over my hip, pulling me closer, and I couldn’t stop the shiver that ran through me. “Just… a lot happened today.” He groaned low in his throat, and I could feel the tension in his body, the way he held himself like he was trying to contain something fierce. “You’re mine, Addy. Do you understand? Mine. And I’m not letting anyone, anyone touch you again.” His teeth grazed my earlobe, and I moaned with
