SERENA'S POV

"What exactly do you plan to do?" Dad asks, glancing at Luna with a skeptical expression, his sword already raised in anticipation, the polished blade catching the dim hallway light. His knuckles whiten around the ornate hilt, betraying the tension coursing through his body despite his controlled exterior. "These aren't ordinary wolves we're dealing with. They're something... else."

But she doesn't get a chance to respond.

A deafening snarl rips through the air—low, guttural, and far more savage than the ones before. The sound vibrates through the walls, making the fine hairs on my arms stand on end, my pulse quickening in primal fear.

We all whip our heads around just in time to see it.

Another black wolf.

Only this one is larger. Meaner. Its fur is slick with something dark—blood? Mud? Magic? I don't know. But its eyes burn a deeper, more intense green, wild and hateful like pools of toxic waste. Each breath it takes expands its massive ribcage, muscles rippling beneath

  • My Hatred, My Soulmate    Chapter 165: The Stranger Who Is My Mother

SERENA'S POV"Mom?" I whisper, taking a cautious step forward, my voice barely audible over the thundering of my own heartbeat. The marble floor feels ice-cold beneath my feet, as if responding to the unnatural chill spreading through the corridor. "Mom, can you hear me? Please, just say something."But before I can reach her, Dad throws out his arm, stopping me cold. His muscles are tense beneath his shirt, his forearm like iron against my chest."Don't," he warns, fingers splayed wide in a desperate gesture of protection. His voice is sharp. Final. Edged with a fear I've never heard from him before."She's... it's too late."Too late?I whip around to face him, disbelief and panic colliding in my chest. "What do you mean 'too late'? Too late for what?" My voice cracks, higher than I intend, thick with emotions I can't even name. "Dad, what the hell is happening to her?"But he doesn't answer. He's staring at her like he's watching something ancient come back to life—something terrif

  • My Hatred, My Soulmate    Chapter 164: The Woman I Thought I Knew

SERENA'S POVNone of us move.We just stare. Frozen in place. The air around us seems to crystallize with tension, making each breath a conscious effort. What we've just witnessed—it doesn't make sense. It can't be real, yet the evidence plays out before our disbelieving eyes.Mom, the woman who tucks me in when I'm sick with gentle hands and a soothing voice, who hums soft melodies while she cooks Sunday breakfast, who always knows when something's wrong with me before I even say a word—has just frozen time itself. The very fabric of reality bent to her will. And then—BOOM!A violent, invisible wave bursts from her body. It's like a shockwave of raw, ancient power, crashing into everything in its path. The force knocks us back several feet—Luna stumbles into the wall with a pained gasp, her slender frame crumpling against the ornate paneling. Damon throws a protective arm around me to steady my swaying body, his fingers digging into my shoulder with urgent pressure. Cassidy nearly h

  • My Hatred, My Soulmate    Chapter 163: The Stillness Before the Storm

SERENA'S POVThere's no time to ask questions. No time to scream, to cry, or even think coherently as adrenaline floods my system, turning my blood to liquid electricity that hums beneath my skin.Dad grabs my arm with battlefield urgency and yanks me upright, his fingers digging into my flesh with enough force to leave bruises. His eyes, normally warm amber, have hardened to flint—the eyes of a warrior who's seen too much death to be surprised by chaos. Meanwhile, Luna spins toward the approaching threat, arms raised in an ancient stance I've never seen her practice, her normally gentle voice rising in sharp, slicing syllables that feel like they're cutting through the very fabric of reality. The hallway around us explodes with blinding light as a shimmering dome erupts outward from her trembling fingertips—a forcefield of magic crackling with intricate runes and pure white fire that dances across its surface like living lightning. The sudden illumination casts our terrified faces i

  • My Hatred, My Soulmate    Chapter 161: When the Howls Multiply

SERENA'S POVThe wait is unbearable.Cassidy, Luna, Mom, and I linger in the hallway just outside Dad's bedroom, our bodies rigid with tension, hearts pounding like war drums against our ribs, breaths shallow and quick in the oppressive silence between us. The sounds from downstairs are growing louder by the second—savage growls that vibrate through the floorboards, violent crashes that make the walls shudder, fine crystal glasses shattering into deadly shards, razor-sharp claws scraping against polished marble with a sound that crawls up my spine like electricity. It's getting worse.Too much worse.I clench my fists so tightly that my nails bite crescents into my palms as I pace a few restless feet before turning to Mom, my eyes desperately searching her face for anything—answers, fear, hesitation, a glimmer of the woman I've known my entire life. But all I see is stone where warmth should be. Her usual gentleness, the soft compassion that always shines through even in the tensest m

  • My Hatred, My Soulmate    Chapter 160: Unleashed

DAMON'S POVOh thank the good goddess. She's alive. My heart is still pounding against my ribcage with such force I can feel each violent thud resonating through my entire body—a chaotic rhythm born from the shift, the battle, the blood that still clings to my skin in dried flecks. The metallic taste lingers on my tongue, a savage reminder of what I've just done, what I am. But the second I lock eyes with her across the debris-strewn hallway, everything else fades into insignificance. Serena. Her crystal-blue irises shimmer under the dim, flickering hallway light, wide and wet with a relief so profound it pierces straight through my chest. There's a luminous glow in them I haven't seen in days—perhaps weeks—a light I feared might have been extinguished forever. She looks at me like I'm the only thing in the world that matters. And damn it—she's the only thing that matters to me too. The only reason I tore through those iron gates, the only thought that propelled me through miles, the

  • My Hatred, My Soulmate    Chapter 159: He Came For Me

SERENA'S POV"I want answers," I snap, my voice ricocheting off the walls, louder and sharper than I intended. My fingernails dig crescents into my palms as frustration courses through my veins like wildfire. "I'm not moving, I'm not hiding, and I'm not backing down until someone tells me what the hell is going on."My mom and dad exchange that same infuriating look again—the one packed with decades of secrets and silent understandings I'm clearly not privy to. It's a language developed over years of shared dangers, one that excludes me entirely despite the fact that I'm standing right here, my heart hammering against my ribcage. I open my mouth to argue again, to demand the truth they've kept locked away for so long, but Dad lifts a weathered hand, his eyes flashing with an urgency I've rarely seen."Not now," he says sharply, his tone leaving no room for debate. The lines around his eyes deepen as he scans the hallway, muscles tensed like a coiled spring. "We don't have the time, Se

  • My Hatred, My Soulmate    Chapter 158: Secrets Behind the Silence

SERENA'S POVWe're trapped.Cornered by death with nowhere to go.The hallway feels impossibly narrow now, the walls pressing in on us like a closing tomb. The lingering dust from the ceiling's collapse hangs in the air, tiny particles catching what little light remains, creating a hazy veil between us and the predator before us.Mom's arm stretches out in front of us, shielding me, Cassidy, and Luna like she's made of iron instead of skin and bone. Her stance is calm, unwavering, but why? There's a massive, snarling wolf standing just feet away from us, its toxic green eyes locked on me with such focused hatred it feels like a physical force pushing against my chest. Its claws scratch against the wooden floor like fingernails on a chalkboard, leaving deep gouges in the polished surface as if it's marking its kill.We should be running. We should be screaming. But we aren't.Because Mom won't move. And we're all staring at her, frozen with one loud thought pounding inside our skulls:

  • My Hatred, My Soulmate    Chapter 157: Fangs in the Ceiling

SERENA'S POVTime feels like it's crawling.Everything around me is moving in slow motion—the way the black wolf's claws slice through the air like obsidian blades, the snarl ripping from its throat like thunder rolling across a midnight sky, the malicious glow in its toxic green eyes pulsing with ancient hatred. I want to move. I need to move. Every cell in my body screams for flight, for survival, for the most basic instinct of self-preservation to kick in.But I can't.My body is frozen.Paralyzed by a fear so deep it feels like it's wrapped around my bones, constricting with each passing second. My muscles have turned to stone, my blood to ice in my veins. I can't even scream. The sound is trapped in my throat, a prisoner of terror. All I can do is stare as death charges straight at me in the form of fangs and fury, a nightmare made flesh and bone and murderous intent. This is it. This is the end.I shut my eyes tightly, bracing for the searing pain of teeth tearing through flesh,
