77. Home Again

Laughter, a gun firing off, and Chase's dead body falling limp to the floor were all part of the images hunting my brain. It woke me up with a jerk, and I felt disoriented and lost.

Fluorescent light hit my eyes, and I groaned.

Where the heck was I?

I blinked life into my eyes, freezing once seeing Adrian's more giant hand engulfing mine. He was behind me, acting like my large spoon, probably against his will.

I realized Adrian was sleeping in my room again.

One by one, the memories crept back. I was back at the house, and now, I was at home, safe. And Adrian tried to comfort me at every chance he got. He was always bringing me my favorite snacks or books I liked.

It had been a week since I was kidnapped, and now it seemed I was stuck with a stepbrother that forcefully cared for me.
