21: Trouble in a not so Paradise

AURORA

My morning alarm went off for the third time, and I was about to hit snooze when my mom barged in and threw a pillow at me. I stretched, trying to get up, but my whole body ached.

“You have a visitor!”

“What? It’s so early in the morning,” I yawned, turning to the other side of the bed and covering myself with my duvet.

“It’s 11 a.m. What do you mean too early?” my mom yelled, dragging the duvet off me. I tried to grab it back, but she threw it to the other side of the room. I rolled my eyes and stood up.

“I can’t wait to leave your house,” I said jokingly, and she burst into laughter.

“Me too. Emilia is in the living room,” she said as she walked off. How could she just drop a bombshell like that and leave? Emilia? I jumped out of bed and ran to the living room. Emilia was back?

She had taken a long leave when she got married, and a few weeks later, I was thrown into prison. I hadn’t seen her since then, though she always sent messages when I

Chapter 23: Might Be a Bad IdeaAURORAI wasn’t sure if I was making the right decision, but I had no choice. I needed to get them off my neck. The threats were scary and it kept on coming . I couldn’t just sit back and do nothing, especially after Bryan’s mother announced on the company platform that I was the new owner. I knew this was a trap, but I was willingly falling into it.For someone who said she didn’t want to involve Damon in her life anymore, he was the first person I called and that was only because I needed advice. I just wanted his help, not friendship or whatever that was. I needed professional legal advice. I know i told him to stay out of my path but he was the one who titled himself as “my legal guardian “ and if i needed help _ Legal help , i could go to him right ? afterall he wasn’t just my ex fiancee , he was a lawyer too , a good one at that . “So… you’ve decided to accept it?” Emilia asked, an eyebrow raised and her eyes searching mine. I nodded. My mom scof

  • My Husband Faked His Death, So I Moved on    LEGAL GUIDE

22: LEGAL GUIDE. DAMONI was checking my phone every minute to see if Rora had responded to my offer, but it was still left on read. Maybe I was doing too much. Maybe she didn’t want me around and it was making her uncomfortable. But I had no intentions of getting back together or letting my actions be mistaken for affection. I was just repaying an old debt.“You haven’t touched your food…” Elsa spoke.I turned. She was seated opposite me, stuffing her face with pancakes. I was beginning to regret letting her stay with me during weekends, it only meant she was going to be in my business.“I don’t eat breakfast.”“Well, good for you. It tastes good.”I pushed the chair back and stood, heading to my room.“I called Rora…”Elsa’s words made me pause mid-step. I waited for her to continue, and when she didn’t, I turned back to the dining area.“You guys spoke? How was it? Did you plan on meeting?”“No. It wasn’t even long enough to plan a meeting,” she scoffed, her face hardening.“What

  • My Husband Faked His Death, So I Moved on    A Heart Like Stone

20: A Heart Like StoneAURORAMy mom chasing me out of the house was not the reaction I had expected. There was no way I could talk her out of it especially after I had embarrassed her like that. For someone who valued her ego so much, I could only imagine what it must have felt like when Bryan’s mom called.“I just wanted to see my son. I never knew things would escalate…” I muttered, my head bowed to the floor.“He doesn’t want to see you! What part of that do you not understand? I told you! Didn’t I?” she yelled.“I just wanted to see him…” I repeated, doing my best to hold back my tears.“What is your problem? Haven’t you suffered enough? Why can’t you come back to your senses? I told you I was going to handle it! You just got out of prison, and you went there? Didn’t Damon tell you about the court order?” She paused, then turned to Damon.“Didn’t you tell her they now have custody and she can only see him when they permit it?”“I did,” he replied, his voice barely above a whispe

  • My Husband Faked His Death, So I Moved on    Walk Of Shame

19: Walk of ShameAURORAMy mom was probably still sleeping. I prayed I wasn’t wrong. I turned to Damon, who was focused on the road, refusing to make eye contact with me.“You can stop me at that drugstore over there. I need to get an ointment for my wound, and I’ll walk home. My house is just a few walks away from there,” I murmured, fixing my eyes outside the window.“I’ll take you home. Stay in the car, I’ll get you the drugs, and we can go from there.”“No! I don’t need your help, and I’d appreciate it if you don’t stress it. With that being said, please stop the car!”“Okay,” he said immediately, and the car came to a halt.I was shocked he didn’t press on. He switched off the engine and let me out. Before I could say anything else, he drove off.“Uhmm… that was quick.” I scoffed. My forehead had stopped bleeding, but I needed ointment for it and maybe pain relief, because my ankle was hurting. I started limping toward the store when I suddenly realized I was walking into a sto

Chapter 18: Your SideDAMON“Whose side are you on, Damon?”Her eyes met mine; she was searching for answers. My heart spoke, but my mouth didn’t. My heart was racing; I took a deep breath but didn’t respond.“Your side. I am on your side. If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t have tried to get you out, I said in my head, but I didn’t tell her.”“You should go home and change,” I said, looking away. Her body was still on mine; I cleared my throat and she helped herself up.“You are bleeding. We should get you cleaned up and take you home.”“I asked you a question. Don’t try to change the topic. I am aware I’m soaked and bleeding. You haven’t answered my question.”I took a deep breath, avoiding her eyes. I stood up. It wasn’t easy to say what my heart wanted to say. I didn’t want to complicate things further for her. What she wanted me to confirm would make everything messy.“I am on nobody’s side. What you did was embarrassing and uncalled for, and that’s why I asked you to leave and took you out
