CHAPTER SEVEN

Nicole clutched her chest coughing and wheezing, dust and smoke clouded her vision. Laura suddenly hefted her up, dragging her to a corner of the room. Laura said something but Nicole couldn't make out what she was saying. The only thing Nicole could hear was a loud ringing in her ears.

Laura set her down and limped to where Larry lay unconscious. Nicole gazed around groggily, Alpha Douglas was nowhere to be found, bits and pieces of Andrew's furniture lay shattered around the room. She staggered towards the door, which was obstructed by a large pile of concrete.

"Help me find Douglas!" Laura rasped, dropping Larry beside her.

Nicole wheezed, the smoke seemed to be increasing. Nodding, she began to look through the rubble closest to her. The building vibrated beneath her feet, causing her to hold on to a rod in fear.

"This building is not going to hold much longer! We have to find him and get out." Laura called out, checking the space where Andrew's bed lay.
