Chapter 2

I was increasingly confident that something serious had happened to the Pack. Since the morning ended, I have yet to see Alpha, Luna, or even Asher. In the large mansion where only Stella and I were left, she was filing her nails and mumbling her displeasure at being forbidden to go out by Luna.

"Is my mother old and out of her mind? How can she order me to be detained here?" Stella raised her eyes to the sky and groaned.

I just looked at her and got yelled at by Stella. "Look again, and I'll gouge your eyes out!"

"I don't want to look at you either," I said and turned away; I wasn't in the mood to argue or get into trouble with her.

After a while, Stella got bored and returned to her room to sleep. The room became much quieter.

Usually, my day would have passed comfortably if my hunch wasn't uneasy. I don't know what's wrong with me, but my heart is constantly pounding. My left eye keeps twitching, and I usually have bad luck when that happens. Asher thinks it's superstitious, but I still can't help thinking about it.

I started to worry; I feared something would happen to Asher.

In the evening, Alpha and Luna finally returned, but without Asher.

Alpha sat down on the chair, his face full of fatigue; in just one day, he seemed ten years older. Right next to it, Luna's state was also wrong.

I hesitated whether I should invite them to dinner or not. Suddenly, outside, there was a series of noises mixed with people's screams. I was confused and quickly stepped outside; I saw people running in the distance. In the air, a jet-black helicopter appeared in the sky, continuously launching small bombs; the impact was not significant but enough to make everyone bewildered.

I shivered; what the hell was going on with our Pack?

After a few minutes, the noise outside stopped. Everything fell silent as if the helicopter had not yet appeared; all left was the sharp smell of smoke and fire.

Alpha sighed, angrily punching the wall. The wall shook, and the picture he was hanging fell to the ground, enough to know how much force he used.

It's the first time I've seen Alpha so helpless. He has always been cold and arrogant, rarely openly showing negative emotions.

Stella also rushed down, she asked fearfully. "Father, mother, what happened?"

I also wanted to ask that question; I looked at Alpha and Luna, waiting for an answer.

Alpha raised his bloodshot eyes; he looked painfully at Stella and then back at Luna. "We're just that far away."

Luna vehemently shook her head and roared. "No, that's my daughter!"

Alpha gritted her teeth in anger. "But it's the last way to save Blue Moon."

Me and Stella froze. We had no idea what was happening, but I guess it wasn’t very pleasant.

"Stella, follow me into the library; I have something to tell you," Alpha said heavily.

I saw Luna's displeasure, but she chose to keep quiet.

When the door closed, Luna covered her face and burst into tears. That confused me even more; my limbs were frantic, and I didn't know what to do. Should I comfort her or not? But Luna would be even more upset if I interfered in her business.

Suddenly Luna looked up, her eyes twinkling as she looked at me. I was startled by her strange gaze; I trembled and asked cautiously. "Luna, did I do something wrong?"

Luna stared at me, the corners of her lips raised, and she asked me in a sweet low voice. "You are an orphan; we raised you. Should you be grateful to us?"

For some reason, I felt a cold wave on my back, a bad premonition surging in my heart, but I nodded reluctantly.

Luna satisfied with my expression, she continued. "If so, when we need help, won't you refuse?"

Her sudden gentle demeanor terrified me. Like in prison, the criminal was also blessed with a good meal before he died. Is it like my situation right now?

"Do you agree?" Luna repeated impatiently.

Under the pressure of her eyes, I nodded, unaware I had made a wrong decision.

Luna gave me a relieved smile and then allowed me to approach; she said softly. "We Pack have been having a terrible time lately. Have you heard of the Blood Moon Pack?"

I shivered when I heard that name. It has been viral in recent times. It's a rogue Pack not recognized by werewolves; it only exists in the dark. Its members are Rogues from all over the world, and its leader is Alpha Elias. Elias is only 20, but his crimes can already span the continent. He slaughtered countless innocent people, including women and children. He invaded the Small Packs, plundered their territories, and enslaved them to serve Blood Moon.

But why are they keeping an eye on us now? Blue Moon is not the most substantial Pack, but we are always on the list of giant Packs. It wasn't elementary for us to be invaded, but now it has happened.

"As you probably already guessed, we are under attack. Asher is resisting at the border, but he's having much trouble. The current force of Blood Moon is too strong; if we continue like this, we will lose the battle. If we want to stop it, we have only one way." Luna said heavily.

I listened silently. What I am most concerned about right now is that Asher is out on the battlefield; he may be in danger. I tightened the hem of my skirt, raised my eyes, and asked. "What is that way, Luna? If I can help, I definitely won't stand by."

"You can help; this is only something you can do." Luna happily held my hand, which had never happened before.

Suddenly, a series of crashing sounds rang out from the second-floor book room.

Stella's shrill scream followed you. "I will not marry that bastard! That never happened, you know? Why do you callously put your daughter in the mouth of a demon?"

Luna and I hurried upstairs. She opened the door; the scene inside was chaotic. Alpha sat helplessly with her head on the chair, and Stella was highly dissatisfied. Everywhere were shards of glass scattered on the floor. Seeing that Luna's foot was about to step on it, I quickly rushed forward, telling her. "There's so much debris under the floor that you can't get in, Luna."

She glanced at me and then pushed me to the ground; accidentally, my hand was pierced by the broken piece. A sharp pain came, but I did not dare to utter a word; I just silently backed away.

Luna rushed to hug her daughter in her arms. Stella also hugged her tightly and cried and sobbed. "Mom, Dad wants me to marry him. Even if I die, I won't marry him; if you force me, I will die for both of you to see."

"Calm down, Stella!" Luna Serena patted her back reassuringly. "I have another solution; you won't need to marry there." Then she glanced at me. "You go out first; I have something to tell Alpha."
