Chapter 3: The Chairman's Will

last update Last Updated: 2022-01-27 18:54:06

In Lucas's Office.

"You're here CEO Jade!" Lucas walked to Jade for a handshake, but he ignored and jerked off.

They took their seats on an executive table to discuss whatever it was.

"Awwwwn... I'm not your friend right now. I'm BB Company's legal Consultant." Lucas explained.

"What is this about that you even used the red call to contact me?"

"How-dare-you-use-the-red-call-to-call-us-when-he's-a-mere-attorney?" Lucas mimicked Jade's voice which was very funny. This time, Jade couldn't help but to fall for his trick as he blushed.

"Exactly." Jade replied him. "How dare some lawyers tell me, the CEO to come and go as he pleases."

"The chairman changed his will." Lucas explained.

He brought out a file from a brown envelope, handling Jade the documents to read.

A frown appeared on Jade's face as he collected it from him, going through the will, word for word.

It was a confidential document, signed and stamped by the chairman, Stephen Dixon Alejandro. Going through it was heartbreaking.

'Why would the chairman ever change his will?' the question strike Jade's head like thunder, making his heart shatter.

He threw the will away out of frustration, tired of all the melodrama happening around him of late.

"How I wish there was a better way to live life! Fuck!" He annoyingly cursed.

"Jade! This isn't a joke." Lucas explained.

"This is grandpa's fortune, so he should be free to do so with it the way he wants. This has nothing to do with me." Jade whooshed to Lucas.

"Fine, but first, take a seat." Lucas persuaded while Jade sat down.

"Don't you understand what this means? If you get the chairman's shares on top of the ones you already have, you can completely take over BB Company!"

"But in exchange, I have to marry the woman he wants me to marry?" Jade's thick eyebrows knotted in disgust.

"That's fucking crazy, dude! What kind of condition is that? I have no intention of getting married!" Jade hissed. "Not now, not soon, not ever!"

"Aren't you curious about whom this woman is, at least?!" Lucas begged.

"No... I don't know, and I don't want to know!" Jade spat. "Because I know who it is even before asking. It's not like this is the first time it has happened. Even when he has written his will the very first time, three years ago..."

"It's not Chloe Charles." Lucas explained. "Which is so very odd of your grandpa."

Hearing this, Jade couldn't help but to imagine who this new lady is.

"What? You mean it's not Koko?" Jade quirked an eyebrow.

"No... She's not the one. This lady is a different person entirely."

"Well, regardless of who it is, I have no interest in any of this. This has nothing to do with me, even if he said he'd hand over his entire fortune. I'm perfectly satisfied with what I have now... It's not as if I'm complaining anyway. And even if he disowns me today, I can get back on my feet with my own power. If grandpa built all of these but himself, so can I." Jade explained to his friend.

"This woman is someone that neither of us know, dude. And I'm sure that others don't know who she is either. You may not want to be forced into a relationship, but that may not be the case with this woman!"

"So what? What are you insinuating?" He hissed. Thinking about getting into a relationship was just unimaginable for him.

"All relationships are hell! All ladies are devils!! I wouldn't marry her, okay?! When I said this has nothing to do with me, I mean it!"

"Ugh! I'm speechless right now but let me advise you as a friend. You're not taking the right decision right now. I don't think this is the right choice. Meet the lady and get to know her first." Lucas advised.

Jade turned to his friend, dumbfounded.

***

Later that night, Jade couldn't go home, he couldn't eat, or sleep or even think properly. All on his mind was grandpa's new will about him marrying a stranger. Going through it page after page for the hundredth time as I read again;

Official Will

The one to marry this woman will inherit the fortune. The chairman doesn't care which guy she marries. With Ace Damien included, whoever marries that woman first would become the owner of BB Company.

Reading this made him think of Lucas and his encouraging words to accept the will. Jade closed his eyes and let out and heavy sigh.

"Damn it all!" He hissed, turning to the transparent window. Staring at other skyscrapers with neon lights highlighting how beautiful the city of Los Angeles was... He felt like breaking through. Not through the window of course, but through all of these. Sometimes, he feels the weight placed upon his shoulders are just too much... He wished things were better.

"Alright grandpa, let's do this. I don't enjoy losing in games, either."

After marking her pupil's notebooks, Sapphire handed their books back to them with their homework in it. However, the children who scored high marks, got stamps on their books with a well-done, good job remarks.

"What about me, teacher? You didn't stamp my book." A girl complained. Sapphire walked to her desk and gave her a stamp.

"Great job, my dear!" She caresses the girl's blonde hair gently.

"I'll give stamps to those who do their best during the next health education test so, study hard and do your best, okay?!"

"Okay teacher!" They answered her with happy faces.

***

On the other hand, Jade was in Lucas's car. Lucas finally convinced Jade to visit the girl at least.

"I wonder what kind of woman she is that the chairman loves her so much." Lucas retorted.

"Probably a nine-tailed fox!" Jade hissed. "There's no other rational explanation as to how this could have happened."

"Hey, who knows. She might be beautiful just like Kimberly Kardashian." Lucas joked as he drove towards the given address.

"Whatever!" Jade replied him.

Lucas laughed out loud while his friend wore a smirk. "I can wait to meet this woman."

***

Sapphire was playing with the kids on the sport field when a car drove into the school compound. She kicked the ball to the other side, making the children run after her. They were all in colourful jersey... Which was their Physical Education Uniform, also known as P.E. With a bright smile on her face, Sapphire grabbed the ball as they all assembled before her.

"That would be all for Phys Ed today kids! You should wash your hands and get into the class, okay?"

"Okay Teacher." Her pupils chorused and did what they were told. About to get back to her class, a teacher called her that she was having a guest.

A frown formed on her face as she wondered who it might be... A guest?

Walking to the School's guest room, Sapphire saw the two men, dressed in black suits. The ties on their neck made her feel the were of high class but when Jade turned to her, she remembered when she mistakenly bumped into him days ago at Blue Bird Hotel.

Jade turned to her, wondering if she was the one or not. She looked so slim and simple. Not like anyone he'd imagined. Not like Kimberly Kardashian or Chloe Charles.

"Umm... What brings you here?" Sapphire started.

Jade looked at her from head to toe. From her shoulder-length Auburn hair to her dirty, white sneakers. Everything about her was so ordinary. He fixed his hands into his pockets and looked at her closely. Disgustingly.

"Oh, you're here." Lucas muttered. "Please guys, let's have a seat."

Sapphire just wore and empty look. She couldn't understand why he was staring at her like that and what business they have with her.

"It's probably school talk." She thought as she took her seat.

Lucas and Jade sat in front of her on a wooden chair. After that, they gave her their cards, so she would know who they were.

Looking at the cards, Sapphire noticed a tiny blue bird at the edge of both cards which served as the logo. She couldn't understand what was happening... A line of confusion covered her face as she studied the cards.

"Umm... Have you heard about Mr. Stephen Alejandro?" Lucas asked.

"Mr. Stephen Alejandro Mr. Stephen Alejandro... She stuttered, trying to recall the name that sounded familiar.

"I don't have a child by that name in my class. He must be in a different class." She answered.

Jade huffed out at her, as a crooked smirk forms on his lips. Hearing her say that was unbelievable. Lucas just smiled at her.

"We're not talking about your students Miss Blac."

"Then why are you here?" She asked.

"Have you ever heard about BB Company?" Lucas pressed further.

"Yes, sure. Everyone knows Blue Bird Company." She explained with a smile.

"The chairman of BB Company is Mr. Stephen Alejandro." Lucas pointed out.

"Oh... I see." Sapphire replied, trying to connect the dots.

In front of her was Jade's annoying stare. He looked at her with a frustrating look. Sapphire didn't understand why he had so much hate in his eyes, but her smile didn't drop.

"But... What brings you here? I doubt that you came all the way here just to tell me that."

"Yes, of course not. You see Miss Blac. The reason we came here is--" Lucas tried to explain, but Jade cut into his words.

"Because we're curious as to how you wiggled your way into this situation. What exactly did you do to him? Is it by charm or by force? What kind of seductive maneuvers did you use on him... Bitch?!"

"Jade..." Lucas pinched him by the side, but he pushed him away, facing Sapphire with that same annoying face as if she's an evil witch with three horns glued to her forehead.

Unable to fathom what was happening, Sapphire let of a sigh. "OMG!"

"OMG?" He frowned. "OMG what?" He asked her.

"I have no idea about what I did exactly. I mean, I don't know you guys and the so-called chairman. But I'm sure of something. That is why you go around with an attorney." Jade turned to Lucas with a frown. He couldn't believe what she just said to him.

"I'm sure you get into tons of trouble with this nasty temper of yours? And what is that look on your face?" She hissed and turned to Lucas.

"I think it's better you continue speaking instead, Mr. Attorney."

"I apologize." Lucas muttered.

"No, you have nothing to be sorry for. It seems that educated people are different from each other." She folded up her armed and faced Jade with seriousness.

"After all, if not for arrogance and pride, one should apologize if they did something wrong."

Jade looked at her annoyingly, the only reason why he was there at the first place was because of his grandfather's will, else....

He huffed angrily and looked away, making Lucas stare at him uncomfortably.
