The half–light at dawn seeped into his office. The down chorus of melodic bird chirping drifted in. Jade rubbed his bleary eyes as he raised his head from the heap of papers and documents laying on his table. Wondering what the time is, Jade walked to the window. There was pearly glow in the sky.
'Another day has begun bringing with it new hopes and aspirations.' Jade smiled as he went to take his seat to start his daily activity when he heard a sudden knock on his mirrored door.
"Yes, come in." Jade muttered,as Mr. Tim entered.
"Good morning sir." He started off with a bow. "The first reporter to write this was David Armstrong from The New York Times. But they refused to tell me who gave them the information."
Jade thought about who it might be... Or might likely be but he had no idea. 'Maybe Charles Chemicals.' he thought.
"How much did the prices of Charles Chemical's shares rise
A thunderous frown appeared on Jade's face as he pulled Sapphire away from Ace."What are you doing to Sapphire?" Jade started."What do you mean by that? We're friends." Ace explained."Don't be like that. This is a misunderstanding." Sapphire interfered, trying to stop Jade from causing any argument. "I mean... You don't even know him. Well, he's one of Gabby's spon-sors." She stammered as she explained."Gabby's spon-sors?" Jade looked at him with so much anger burning through but he tried not to show it."Hey, naughty Ace! Since when have you ever sponsored idol singers?" Curiosity laced Jade's eyes as he asked. With this, Sapphire turned to him, surprised."Ace? You mean he's your cousin, the Ace you mentioned to me the other day? So are you Mr. Ace, sir?" She asked with a distrusting look."Yes but..." Ace tried to explain but Sapphire cut into his words, abruptly."Is that why you never gave me your business
"Just do what you want, then!" Lucas muttered as his phone suddenly rang. It scrolled through the screen of his phone and muttered... "Work!"Lucas then grabbed his jacket as he stood up. "I'm leaving now, Jade. It's the chairman. As you know, I'm an attorney. I have a lot of other pressing matters to take care of besides this." Lucas explained. "What do you know about struggles, though?" He asked.About to leave, he walked back. And again... "Just in case! You better not use a flower delivery service. You have to deliver them yourself, okay?!"Jade watched as his friend lecture him."Sheesh! You don't have a single romantic bone in you." Lucas rolled is eyes at Jade and brushed his finger through the side of his dark hair in style before leaving."Flowers? As if!" Jade hissed and took his phone. Dialing Sapphire's contact but she wouldn't ever pick. Instead, she rolled her soft
* * *The sky was freezing with the icy moon that went blurry into the clouds. The pale crescent moon shone like a silvery claw in the night sky. It was already 10:00 p.m. Jade and Sapphire took a seat outside as they stepped out of the warm building. Sitting outside, side by side. The couple watched the moving moon as if it was a boat standing in a ocean of dark shades."Why is your grandfather doing this?" Sapphire broke the silence that had reigned between them for a couple of minutes."What?" Jade replied before turning to her."I mean, why is he doing this to me? Why me of all people?" She pressed. "I wouldn't have been so rudely used by you and Ace if not for his will."Jade gently pinched her cheek which made Sapphire blushed a little."I never used you." We signed a perfectly valid contract."What?" Sapphire scoffed. "Don't fool yourself! Who was t
Despite the fact that some guests were watching, Jade ran out of the hotel and gave Sapphire her hand bag. She collected it and hit him hard with it on his face, he fright a little.Meanwhile, Miss Barbara and Mr. George were peeping through the decorative flowers standing by the corner of the hotel."Is that woman a mermaid or something? How can she hit our boss so hard and he haven't ripped her head apart?" She wondered."Is that really our CEO over there?" Mr. Tim stretched his neck forward and widened his eyes to see clearly. Watching the cat and rat fight between them was unbelievable."I can't believe my eyes. He's going after her like, for real?" It looked as if Miss Barbara wished she was the one in her position."Me too. I feel like we've been really busy as of late." Mr. George replied.***Like a lioness being deprived from feeding on it's prey.
"Allow me to apologize once more. And if I were to offer any excuses at all, it'd be that... I was curious.""You were curious?" Sapphire frowned at his reason while Jade was waiting at a distance."I don't want you admit this, but... Jade feels like an un-breachable wall sometimes. I was curious about the kind of woman he was dating, you see.""Sapphire let out a soft breath of relief.Yes, that understandable. But you know, he may seem like a wall, but he's not un-breachable. He's just stubborn." She explained."Pardon?""What I'm trying to say is... Jade is not as bad as you think. Within his stubbornness is a dives meekness. And... he's not a perfect person, either." She explained. " But anyway, you're acknowledging that you did something wrong, right?""Of course, it was a huge mistake on my part. And I'm sincerely sorry." There was earnesty in his voice.
"I knew something was weird about the fact that Jade was dating a woman like you." Chloe continued. "I should've known it had something to do with money." Sapphire walked closer to her, tired of the annoying words she was spitting out. "Isn't it immature to cling to someone just because of some will?" Chloe asked with a pitiable expression. Sapphire smiled at her for that. "I know, right? Jade is clinging to me because of something so inconsequential." "This is why people like us should not mingle with poor folk. I bet your life has changed for the better since you've started dating." Chloe coiled a stand of her hair with her index finger and heaved heavily on her breath. "Put an end to the contract already. And I'll pay you for it. Cut ties between you and Jade, my dear... I'll give you all the money you'll ever need. So, take the hint and disappear now, sweetheart." Chloe spoke as i
***The Following Morning...Kate went to visit her father-in-law."Did you really introduced that young lady to Jade?""Yeah. Why? Don't you like her?""To be honest, I feel like Chloe Charles would be a better match for my son." She placed the ceramic teacup she was holding, back to the glassy center table."Well, it's true that getting Charles Chemicals would be great but no.""Chloe will definitely be able to help Jade especially with his business growth and all. Marrying out if one's league will cause a lot of complications, you see. Jade may be stoic, but he's a good son to me. He takes good care of his relatives in Canada and even thinks about his late older brother without being too ostentatious about it. So, I don't want to see him suffer because of his wife, on top of what he's been thro
***In the morning, Sapphire stretched like a lazy cat to pick up her phone."Hello..." Her tired voice muttered."What did Jade say? " Zoey asked, arranging some old clothes on the models, in her boutique."Huh? What are you talking about?" Same meowed."Wait, did you two sleep together? Don't tell me that you guys had sex!" Zoey raised her voice over the phone."What?" Sapphire lazily pulled herself out of bed. "Oh, shut it! Bye..." She cuts the call and fell back to sleep. In a twinkle of an eye, Sapphire's sleepy eyes opened as she quickly jumped out of bed, trying to remember what had happened last night. She knew Jade gave her a bottle of water and she rejected it. But what exactly did they discussed about? She wondered."I... definitely feel like we talked about something important." She told herself as she pondered on the thought.Ding-dong! She heard the doorbell, ring.Sapphire checked through a s
