Chapter 6

"So your pack got attacked by humans?" He nodded. "And you ran away just in time before you were killed?" He nodded again. "But what happened to you parents?"

"Mom tried to fight the humans while dad helped me hide. He told me to run and he'll come find me. But right before I ran I saw dad getting shot. Mom was already dead."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that."

"But I'm grateful for Keylan. Keylan helped Lupus." He smiled. Wow, he's kinda hot...and cute at the same time. I notice now how long his hair is. It's around his shoulders "Thank you."

I think I blushed a little. "It's-you're welcome. But what's your real name?"

"Mom never gave me a name. Giving names to pups is not common to werewolves. That's why I was happy when Keylan named me Lupus."

"Okay. That must be confusing though. Do you-or did you have siblings?" He nodded. "Were they also unable to escape the attack?"

"I don't know. They were hunting when the humans attacked."

"Well, I hope they're okay too." He nodded now with a frown. "But I still don't get how a wolf can turn into a human." He brought his forearm close to me. "What?"

"Just look." I allowed my eyes to fall onto his hairy arm. It suddenly grew even hairier and turn into a paw. 

"Wow." Without noticing I held his arm/paw and softly caressed it. It suddenly turned back into a normal human arm.

Our eyes locked for a second before I let his arm go. I still really love his eyes. They're gorgeous.

"How does that even work?"

"I never got to learn about how it works. But mom taught me the human language and how to act like a human when I'm in human form."

"Human language?" He nodded. So they have their own language? "Your true form is a wolf?" He nodded again. "Then, is turning into human painful?"

He shook his head. "But it is exhausting. If I stay in human form for more than 30 hours I won't be able to turn into human for at least 2 days."

"Oh." That actually explains a lot of things. "The day you came to my yard covered in blood, two guys followed after you. Are they the ones that attacked your pack?" He nodded again with a frown.

That also explains why they were talking about a pup.

"So, I guess you don't have a place to go to at the moment." He nodded still frowning. "Then~ you can stay with me." His face immediately brightened up. 

"Really?" I nodded with a soft grin. "Thank you." He suddenly hugged my waist. 

"Um sure." I awkwardly patted his back. He took my hand then put it on his head. I still find this weird. "But we need to set some ground rules." He let me go still having a huge smile on his face. He nodded. "First, when I go to classes," he immediately frowned again, "you have to control yourself and stop making a mess." He nodded then faced his fidgety fingers still pouting. "Second, you have to teach yourself how to be around humans. I won't be able to take you on nightly walks often. During daylight we could take walks with you in human form." He nodded again. "I promise not all humans are bad.

"I will try, for Keylan." He grinned again. I avoided his eyes though

"O-kay. Oh, I forgot one thing. How old are you?"

He started counting on his fingers like a toddler. "In human age, I am this many years old."

"You're four?!*" He nodded excitedly. "Wow. You're younger than I thought you would be."

(*Human age he is around 30-32)

"How old is Keylan?"

"I'm turning 20 this year."

"Wow! Keylan old!"

"I'm not old. In human years I'm young. Very young. When someone is old they are around 60+ years old, respectfully of course."

"Wow. Humans really live long."

"How long do werewolves live?"

"20 years? I don't know. I never met anyone over 20. But I remember mom telling me werewolves don't live for as long as humans. How long do humans live?"

"It kinda depends. Some people live for over 100 years."

"WOW!" He does act toddler. I guess he really is four. His reactions are cute though.

Suddenly my stomach started rumbling. "Oh, I guess I'm hungry. You hungry too?" He nodded excitedly again. "Then I'll prepare your dinner and order pizza for me."

"Pizza? What is that?"

"It's really delicious. You'll see it when it gets here."

After 20 minutes food was on the table. "Oh~" he was staring at the pizza. "That looks delicious. Can I eat it?" He took one slice. Right before he took a bite I remembered things dogs can't have. Pizza has yeast dough and cheese which is a dairy product.

"No, wait!" I took the slice away from him. He looked at me surprised. "Y-you can't have this. It's not safe for you."

"But I wanna try pizza~" he pouted.

"No, you really can't have this. Just eat your stake." I put the stake on his side of the table. He pouted even more. He may be angry but he should know I'm looking out for him.

After eating he went to the bedroom while I was still eating. I followed after. I found him sleeping in wolf form. I'm not used to having another person in this house who's not me. I'm used to only having one person and a wolf.

I took a quick shower before climbing into bed next to him. I stared at him sleeping peacefully until I fell asleep.

"We're going out today."

"But it's the middle of the day. There are people outside."

"That's the point. You need to get used to people as fast as possible."

"But, but...I'm scared." He gave me the sad puppy eyes. Why does it actually work? Is it because he's part canine? Because his eyes are radiating a lot of cuteness.

I avoided looking at his eyes. "Y-you don't have to be. The people that attacked your pack are not here. These are normal people and they won't do anything to you. I promise. Plus they won't recognise you as werewolf since you look human."

"What if I turn back into wolf form while outside? I can't control it when I'm feeling strong emotions."

"Are you really that scared?" He nodded. How do I help him? Then I remembered how you would help a toddler that was afraid of some small silly thing. "Then, how about you hold my hand?" He raised his brows. "It always helped me when I was afraid of something. My mom and dad would hold my hands to comfort me."

He grinned softly before nodding. "Okay." I held out my hand.  He locked his big hand with mine before opening the door to the outside world.

Wow, it's more packed than I thought it would be at this time. It's already 11am so I thought people would be at their jobs. Then I remembered that it's Sunday.

He tightened his grip on me while we were walking out. Even in the way he kept his guard on high alert. "Calm down. No one is going to do anything to you. Just calm down." He let out a sigh of relief before slowly calming down. "That's it. You're doing good." He smiled at me. Wow, I still can't get used to that innocent smile.

We got to the woods after around an hour of walking. He wondered off again in wolf form. He left his clothes with me. It's weird that he has to be naked when changing forms. I feel embarrassed looking at his naked body even after two weeks of living together.
