The sharp crash of breaking glass echoed through the balcony..loud.

I froze.

That wasn’t just a dropped glass. That sounded like a whole damn table tipping.

I glanced over the railing, eyes narrowing at the mess below.

And then I saw her.

Hospital robe. Bare feet. Face flushed...

Wine bottles lay shattered around her.

Irene’s voice rang out. “Who let this thing wander in here?” she cooed loud enough for everyone nearby to hear.

The elevator doors slid open, and I stepped out into chaos.
