I handed Hunter his bill without meeting his eyes.

“We’ll call you when it’s ready.” I muttered.

I didn’t look at him, but I could feel his sharp gaze burning into me. He didn’t argue. He simply walked to a corner booth and sat down.

Every few seconds, I felt the weight of his eyes—before he glanced at his phone and then back at me again.

My pulse spiked. I rushed to the machine. One black coffee. If I gave it fast enough, maybe he’d leave.

But my hands shook. The filter slipped from my grip,

  • My Stepbrother Got Me Pregnant   Chapter one hundred and twenty nine

ChristinaMy lips dragged against his.Ugly and desperate. My hands slid up, fingers locking around the back of his neck.Hunter seized my face and kissed me like he meant to empty me of everything I still carried. His tongue claimed my mouth without mercy. I answered with the same hunger. His mouth was hot. Tasted rain. His hands found the zipper of my dress and dragged it down in one long, rough pull.Cool air rushed over my spine. My fingers fumbled at the buttons of his soaked shirt, tearing them free until the wet fabric slid from his shoulders and hit the floor. He unclasped my bra and stripped it away, leaving me bare from the waist up in front of him.His mouth dropped to my neck.Teeth scraped, then lips sealed over the pulse, sucking hard enough to leave a mark.I gripped his shoulders. My palms sliding over rain-chilled skin that burned beneath my touch.I needed that heat. The grief had turned sharp and unbearable. This was the only way left to bleed it out.His hands clos

  • My Stepbrother Got Me Pregnant   Chapter one hundred and twenty eight

ChristinaI stood alone at the cremation site.Everyone else had already left. Only my mother’s ashes remained and me.My heart felt strangely hollow—like the nightmare I had dreaded for years had finally come true. There was nothing left to lose.Nothing left to fear.I just wanted a few quiet seconds with her before the rest of the world tried to tear off another piece of me.Then the sky cracked open.Cold rain began to fall in heavy sheets, streaking down my face, dripping from my chin onto the ground.I didn’t move.I didn't care if it drowned me.Suddenly, a heavy weight settled over my shoulders—a dark wool coat carrying familiar warmth.I turned.Hunter stood behind me in a white shirt that was already soaked through, clinging to his chest and shoulders.Rain ran down his face, but his eyes never left mine.“When did you come?” I asked, voice barely above the rain.I never thought he would show up here. Not for her. Not for this. His lips curved into that familiar, painful hal

HunterThe floor seemed to disappear beneath me.I stared at Dad as the doctor's words echoed through the hallway. No further treatment. No miracle. No more time."What?" Dad's voice cracked. "No. No, that's impossible."He shook his head violently and reached for his phone."Call someone. Call the best specialist in the country. No—forget that. We'll fly her to the States. We'll get another opinion. We can still—"I grabbed his shoulder."Dad."He wasn't listening. His hands shook so badly he could barely unlock his phone."Dad."Nothing.Finally, I took the phone from him.His eyes met mine. For one second, the fight drained out of him. Then he broke. The strongest man I'd ever known folded in half and collapsed against me.A broken sound tore from his throat. Not a sob.Something worse.Something raw.Something that came from a place no one could survive unchanged.I wrapped my arms around him while he cried. And all I could think about was Chris. How the hell was I supposed to tel

Hunter I stood on the stage in my maroon tuxedo, the white shirt underneath perfectly crisp.Lisa stood beside me in her elaborate wedding gown.Smiling nervously for the guests. The elite of the city packed the grand hall.My eyes cut through the sea of faces, scanning every aisle, every entrance, every shadow.Everyone had come.Politicians, rival CEOs, fake friends, high-society sharks.Everyone except the only two people who mattered.Chris was nowhere to be seen.Neither was Kai.“Congratulations on your upcoming vows, Hunter,” a guest said, shaking my hand.I gave him a razor-thin, practiced nod.Congratulations for a wedding that is never fucking happening."Hunter... Do you think she's actually coming?" Lisa murmured beside me. Her knuckles white as she gripped her bouquet. "It's getting late. The ceremony is supposed to start in ten minute

Christina“Chris…” Lisa started, her voice breaking as heavy sobs wracked her body.“What happened, Lisa?” I asked.Fear gripping my chest.I had never seen her crying. She was always cheerful.“I couldn’t hold it in anymore…” she cried. “I needed someone to talk to.”I stared at her, my heart pounding. “What is it?”“About you and Hunter…” she whispered. The floor seemed to vanish beneath my feet.“You knew…”“Yes,” she said bitterly, tears streaming down her face. “I knew everything. I knew you both were together. I knew you had a past. I knew you used to sleep with him.”She paused. Her eyes filled with pain and accusation.I stood frozen, unable to speak.“Yes, Christina,” she continued, her voice shaking. “I knew everything. Hunter used you for his revenge. And you left. Everything was fine between us… We were happy. We were planning our future together. We were in love.”Her words cut deeper than any knife.“Until you came back,” she sobbed. “You ruined everything.”She sobbed h

  • My Stepbrother Got Me Pregnant   Chapter one hundred and twenty four

Christina“Come with me,” Hunter commanded. My brows shot up.Every single guest in the hall was staring at us.This wasn’t hidden behind closed doors anymore. He was gripping my hand right in front of hundreds of people — in front of his mother. In front of his fiancée.“It’s okay… You don’t need to do that,” I said, trying to pull my hand away.“Shhh…” he hushed me softly but his grip was iron.He took the ice pack and pressed over my bruising skin. His eyes fixed into mine.“If he ever touches you again,” he murmured, loud enough for me to hear, “I will rip his hand off and gift-wrap it for his father.”He whispered and walked away.Like he would actually do that.of course he would. The music resumed and the crowd slowly returned to their conversations. The engagement night eventually ended. The next morning, I stepped onto the balcony with a cup of coffee and froze. But the moment I looked down into the garden, my heart twisted violently. There they were.Hunter and Lisa, in the m
