Zayne's POV“Hello, Ava,” I said again, slowly, gently. She froze. She just stood there and stared at me like I was some ghost. For one year and a half we have been searching for this girl; we had combed every nook and cranny of every neighboring pack, both far and wide in search of her. We have spent every money we had paying people for information about her whereabouts, and every time we either get a lead that won't be anything.I was the only one who knew the amount of pain I went through, the torture and anxiety my wolf had going on, the sleepless night, the haunted dreams I had about her being in danger but faraway and can't even save or help her, the memories that filled my heart and probably was the one that carried me through all these while of her absence. She didn't know what she did to us, how we had to continue pushing with life, like a part of us didn't just go missing out of our lives. Like we were not hurt and worried by her disappearance at the same time. But here she
Ava’s POVOne and a half years later. That night was cold. The sky was dark. Clouds everywhere. Thunder too. Lightning shines here and there. The rain gave no sign as it came fast. I had just come back from my evening class. Zach dropped me off as usual. I didn't know how I would have fared in the rain if not for Zach.“Goodnight,” he said as I got out of the car.“Goodnight,” I said.I waved and ran inside, my hands a stupid shield for the drizzling rain. The rain started the moment I closed the door. I was so tired. The cool weather made me sleepy. I didn’t change my clothes. I didn’t touch my books. I didn’t eat anything. I just lay down on my bed and slept.I had a dream. In my dream, I heard voices. Three voices. They were calling my name.“Ava…”“Ava…”“Ava, where are you?”The voices were familiar. I knew them. I knew all three.Zayne. Irish. Steve. They stood in front of me in the dream. I wanted to run, but my legs wouldn’t move. I just stood there, shaking. They looked at me
Ava’s POVMy first class the following day was an evening class. I tried not to think about yesterday evening. I just wanted the day to go fast. I tried not to think, I saw my worst enemy in the same school as me. Although I had forgiven him, it doesn't mean I have forgotten all the evil he did to me. How he hurt my feelings. How he made me cry. I wanted to sit, listen, and leave when class ended. Nothing more. I don't want to bump into him. I want no conversation with him, else I would be forced to hurt himI picked the seat near the window like I always did. I brought out my notebook and placed my pen on it. I didn’t look around. I didn’t want to see anyone. I didn't want anyone to notice me. I want to stay invisible in this class till I am done with my school. I didn’t want to think about Zach. Then I heard footsteps and the chair beside me moved. I didn’t turn my head. I turned to see who was approaching me. Zach's eyes stared right into my soul. I cursed under my breath and turn
Author’s POV“Watch where you’re.." Ava snapped but stopped midway when her eyes landed on the person she had bumped into.Fucking Zach. Her worst enemy. Her biggest regret. The walking disaster she tried to avoid like a plague. The one she thought she had finally escaped, but how wrong she was, because standing right in front of her was her walking nemesis.“Great,” she hissed. “Just wonderful! What a perfect day to be ruined by perfect nonsense,” she muttered under her breath as her eyes narrowed down on him and irritation crossed her features. But Zach, unfazed by her comment, knelt down to gather the books that fell. She snatched it from his hand without giving her thanks and prepar
Ava’s POVTwo months later,It’s been two months since I saw my result. I had passed the required cut-off mark for my course, but I was still unsure if I would be admitted or not. Each day passed in a blur as I was neck deep in uncertainty. One morning, I decided to get something to eat when I noticed a brown envelope in my mailbox on my way out. Curious, I took it in to examine what was inside. When I saw the university seal on it, my heartbeat kicked up, and my arms trembled as I brought the letter out.I scanned through it and screamed when I saw the last line. “Dear Ava, after reviewing your application and test results, the university is delighted to inform you that you have been admitted to study marketing and business administration.”All my hard work had paid off. I could actually excel on my own. The feeling was liberating. I didn’t have to depend on anyone for my success. My determination and resilience had paid off, and this I said aloud as I shook the paper in the air. Thi
Ava's POV After travelling all night in a night bus, I finally arrived at my destination. I was exhausted but more excited than ever. This was a new pack and I was glad to be here. As I stepped out of the bus, I took a few minutes to suck it all in. I could smell my fresh start already. This place was just as established as the pack I just left. Luckily for me, I was able to find an inn to spend the night. The next morning, I spent a few minutes taking in the new scenery before I went house hunting. After asking for a few directions, I was able to locate an apartment near a university. I got in touch with the owner, and she showed me around.“The last tenant was a sweet girl just like you. She used the room quite nicely if you ask me.” She said as she opened the door and ushered me in.She opened the windows to let fresh air into the room as I inspected the place. It was pretty decent. Smaller than the room I was given in the mansion, but at least it was mine.It would require a lo
