Chapter 5: The Conversation

Aaron Covaci’s POV

I did not know how long I have been here. I think my craving was going stronger day by day as I was looking at the sunlight that was coming into my cell. I was looking around before I saw a flash of whites in front of my cell.

That bastard was coming to visit me.

“So, how was it to be inside the cell?” He asked as he was leaning closer to the bars. I was glaring at him before I was smirking at him.

“Well, it was a world-class service so I guess it was okay,” I said as I was looking at him. The bastard was smirking at me before he was pacing back and forth in front of me.

“You know, Covaci, I used to like you like a lot. But after that stunt was being pulled your cousin on my father—“

“I hardly believe that Vladislaus De Ville was your father,”

“—I cannot help but to take revenge on your clan,’’ he said as he was gripping the iron bar. It bent as I was smirking. It seems that it has been forever since I saw this bastard was letting his demon controlled him.

“So, how it feels to be in power?” I asked as the bastard was smirking at me as he was crossing his hands and looked at me in the eyes.

“It has been awesome. One: you’re inside the cage and Two: I have the complete trust of the Huntress. I must say she did have a very delicious body,” the bastard said as I was tugging at the chain.

He laughed wickedly before I was taking a deep breath. I counted to ten to control my demon from tearing this motherfucker apart with my true power. I cannot play my wild card just yet.

“Tut, tut. I don’t think that you would like to have the Huntress to kill you on sight when you go berserk right,” he said as he was wiggling his finger at me. I smirked.

“Even if I did, she would not kill me once she learned the truth,” I said as I was looking at the bastard. He was amused as he was smiling at me.

“My, what a tragedy then if you did die on the spot. After all, she listens to me rather than you,” the bastard said as he was pointing at himself then pointing his finger at me. I felt a slight pain inside my body as I was yelling.

“Now, we don’t want you to be loud. I don’t want to tell people that I have been keeping a very deep, dark secret and be found guilty by the Huntress,” he said as I was breathing heavily after he lifted the pain from me. I smirked at him as I was looking up from the floor.

“Well, I like to see that day come and I will tear you apart when the Huntress took my side,”

“You can only wish, Covaci, for she was loyal to me, her Master,” the bastard said before he was turning to go now. I chuckled before I called after him.

“Your Holiness,” I said before he stopped as if he has embraced the title.

“Ah, but I won’t call you that since you were the Prince of Darkness, am I right? So, sorry, my prince,” I said before I felt the pain was sucking my breath. I was out of breath as the prince was gripping my neck with his power.

“Next time you say that word, I will kill you by myself,” he said before he released me and I was taking a deep breath. The prince was gone before I was smirking at him. I turned to look at the CCTV and I think I have the evidence to show to the Huntress that she was playing with fire.

“Man, that hurt like a bitch,” I mumbled before I was waiting for my Huntress, no my Astrid, to come and play with me today. I think it will be a great distraction than the threat that I got from the Prince of Darkness.

Astrid Larsen’s POV

I was looking at the document before someone told me that His Holiness wanted to meet me. I went to find him as he was leaning against the balcony, looking thoughtful in his stance before I was clearing my throat. He turned to look at me as his black eyes were smiling at me.

“Ah, Huntress, I thought I heard you coming,”

“You call, sir?” I asked him as he nodded. He was looking outside before I was looking at his side profile. If anything, I would say that His Holiness was a handsome man.

That high cheekbone, aristocratic nose.

Full, kissable lips.

Eyes like the night that can see your soul.

I blinked before I saw that His Holiness was talking to me. I was not in the moment before I was smiling at him.

“I’m sorry, did you say something, sir?” I asked him as he chuckled.

“I ask if you want to be my wife,’’ he said before all the movement inside me stopped. Did—did His Holiness asked me to be his wife?

Holy crap, this is awesome!

I was looking at him before he took my hands. His were warmth as he gripped my hands. I was looking at his face before he smiled at me.

“I must say, I did not expect you to say yes since you might be thinking that why a person of my status was asking you, my best Vampire Hunter to be my wife. My honest answer is that I have been in love with you when I first saw you,” he said as he was looking at me. I was looking into his black eyes as he smiled and his eyes reflected his sincerity.

“I…I don’t—“

“It’s alright. I don’t expect you to say anything but I was hoping that you will give me the right answer,” he said before he was kissing my hands. I looked at him as his eyes were staying at my face.

“Just think about it?” He asked as I nodded, unable to form words. He smiled.

“Then, I will leave you to your duty then, Huntress,” he said before he was smiling. He chuckled before he shook his head.

“I should stop calling you that. I should use your given name, Astrid,” he said as I was blushing. I never heard His Holiness said my given or any given name beside the code names that we used. But he did say my name just now.

So, why do I felt empty when he said it?

“I will give you 3 days to decide. I don’t usually wait but for you, I will, Astrid,” he said before he kissed my knuckles before went away. I was speechless before I was smiling like an idiot.

His Holiness asked me to be his wife and he said my name. Ah, I think I can die and be happy with that.

I was smiling still when I was inside the cell to develop the sample of the blue blood for the research before I heard Aaron said something, “So, did I miss anything fun?”
